Hands-on experience working with no-SQL databases.

Experience working in an Agile development process - Scrum.

Experience working closely with engineers and software cultures.

Ability to think at a high level about product strategy and customer journeys.

Ability to produce low level design considering the paradigm that journeys will be extensible in the future and translate that into components that can be easily extended and reused.

Excellent communication skills to clearly articulate design decisions.

Role Overview

We’re seeking a passionate Backend Developer to join our fast-paced team in Bangalore and help build and scale the core systems powering Pepsales. In this full-time, on-site role, you’ll work on high-impact features that directly influence product innovation, customer success, and business growth. 

You’ll collaborate closely with the founding team and leadership, gaining end-to-end ownership and the chance to bring bold, innovative ideas to life in a rapidly scaling startup environment

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems and microservices.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code in Python.
• Build and optimize RESTful APIs and WebSocket services for high performance.
• Manage and optimize MongoDB databases for speed and scalability.
• Deploy and maintain containerized applications using Docker.
• Work extensively with AWS services (EC2, ALB, S3, Route 53) for robust cloud infrastructure.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for smooth and automated deployments.
• Collaborate closely with frontend engineers, product managers, and leadership on architecture and feature planning.
• Participate in sprint planning, technical discussions, and code reviews.
• Take full ownership of features, embracing uncertainty with a problem-solving mindset.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 2–7 years of backend development experience with a proven track record of building scalable systems.
• Strong proficiency in Python and its ecosystem.
• Hands-on experience with MongoDB, Docker, and Microservice Architecture.

Your main responsibility will be designing and implementing applications that are written in PHP. This means you will work closely with front end developers to integrate backend components with the components they’re creating for users to interact with.

Responsibilities

Skills And Qualifications
• Strong knowledge of PHP web frameworks such as cake php, Laravel, Yii, etc depending on your technology stack
• Understanding the fully synchronous behavior of PHP
• Understanding of MVC design patterns
• Basic understanding of front-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
• Knowledge of object oriented PHP programming

Work as a member of a team responsible for developing a large-scale, highly available and fault-tolerant SaaS based Leasing & Asset management solution in the commercial real estate space in accordance with established processes. You will apply your knowledge of building scalable, distributed applications and have the opportunity to work with technologies & frameworks such as Ruby on Rails, NodeJS, ReactJS, Heroku, AWS, Postgres DB​

Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following. 

You will be expected to:​

• Contribute to all phases in the software lifecycle – requirements analysis, solution design, development, and deployment
• Maintain high quality standards for the work undertaken and be responsible for the quality of deliverables.
• Ensure assigned projects are developed in accordance with established engineering processes, adhering to scope, schedule constraints and agile project plans
• Guide/mentor the less experienced team members
• Participate in code reviews
• Work effectively as part of a distributed team
• Document the features worked by him/her

Key technical expertise areas expected for this role:

• Strong programming skills in Ruby with clear understanding of Object-Oriented and Functional programming. 
• Experience working with Ruby on Rails framework
• Experience on REST API Programming preferably based on a Microservices Architecture
• Good Understanding of Databases (Postgres) and proficiency in database schema designing & writing efficient SQL Queries. 
• Strong troubleshooting skills
• Demonstrable ability to learn new programming languages and frameworks quickly
• Experience with distributed systems with specific focus on security and scalability
• Experience with modern cloud technologies such as AWS

• Experience working with Cloud Service providers & platforms like AWS, Heroku

Qualifications:

- B.Sc/B.Tech in Computer Science or a related field.

- Strong coding, data structures and algorithms.

- 1+ year experience in PHP (Laravel).

- Experience or keen interest to take ownership of code deployment in Linux based servers, Docker, Jenkins.

- Hands-on experience with relational databases like MySQL, Postgres.

Responsibilities:

- Design and develop software for given requirements.

- Involvement in the full software development lifecycle within broadly defined parameters and providing software solutions keeping into consideration the software quality needs.

- Troubleshoot, test and maintain the core product software and databases to ensure strong optimisation and functionality.

- Communicate cross-functionally, collaborate with business teams, engineers to plan, own and deliver solutions on time.
