Senior Mobile Developer

Job Description

The primary role of this position will be to develop rich Mobile applications for a highly accessed and commercial digital content platform based on a high-performance CE device. We are looking for resources with Android and iOS technology skills for user facing application development using TypeScript and JavaScript FW competency. Your primary focus will be on developing application components and implementing them following well-known mobile development workflows.

Responsibilities:

• As an individual contributor understand the requirements, perform detailed design and coding, debugging, testing and release of the given modules.
• Development of new user-facing features using Mobile technologies, re-usable components and front-end libraries.
• Rapid development ability to build and demonstrate quick Mobile driven solutions.
• Work closely within a small team of experienced engineers to produce high-quality software products on a daring schedule.
• Demonstrate professional engineering practices including alignment to coding standards, producing design documentation, and supporting integration.
• Translating design and wireframes into high quality code, with an eye for performance on specific target devices.
• Write unit test and perform functional verification for the responsible modules
• Perform code reviews and sanity checks for the code developed.

Skills:

• Experience with React JS, React Native, JavaScript including DOM Manipulation and JavaScript object model.
• Thorough understanding of any of React Native and its core principles for developing and maintaining Android or iOS applications.
• Good knowledge of HTML5 and CSS
• Experience with modern front-end build pipelines and tools such as Babel, Webpack, NPM, etc.
• Agile Scrum based Development
• Ability to communicate effectively and make effective Presentations
• Solid understanding of MVC and stateless APIs & building RESTful APIs
• Familiarity with code versioning tools such as Git, SVN.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related field, and Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial software development.
• Expertise in object-oriented design methodologies
• Experience working with medium to large scale code bases in small to large groups
• A passion for front end application development

1. AWS Cloud Solutions: We expect you to have a strong understanding of AWS services and how to architect solutions using them.
2. Use of DynamoDB, S3, Vault, Lambda, or other AWS infrastructure components.
3. Design scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant cloud architectures.
4. Continuous Integration and Deployment (CI/CD): Understanding CI/CD pipelines and tools like AWS CodePipeline, CodeCommit, and CodeDeploy is essential. 
5. Advanced concepts in React Native.

• Hands on experience with React Native is required

• Strong knowledge of Android SDK, different versions of Android, and how to deal with different screen sizes

Key Responsibilities:

• Take part in the development and enhancement of an Open-Source SDK
• Be both an individual contributor with hands-on development responsibility, as well as a mentor and lead for a small developer team
• Contribute to the Open-Source community interaction, including participation in the discussion forums
• Review code contributions, review pull requests
• Create and maintain the documentation for the SDK
• Design and development a usable and functional Android reference app
• Hands-on Android development, including feature development, troubleshooting, debugging, problem solving and bug fixing
• Design and run your own unit test cases, integration test cases and test automation
• Analyze new requirements, investigate feasibility, suggest implementation options and estimate efforts timeline, dependencies and risks
• Collaborate closely with other development team members, including some being located at other parts of the world

Required Skills:

• 9+ years of experience in the software development industry
• 5+ years of experience in Android development
• 5+ years of experience in Java and/or Kotlin, with strong programming and software engineering skills
• Good understanding of Android related programming patterns and OS facilities, including activities, fragments, views, lifecycles and UI components
• Experience with SQLite database development
• Excellent communication skills, especially written
• Experience in creating software architecture and design document, as well as externally-focused technical documentations
• Readiness to work in a global team with contributors from different backgrounds, skills and locations
• Experience in leading small technical teams
• Bachelor’s degree in Software/Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field, or comparable relevant experience

Preferred Bonus Skills:

• Experience in Design and Implementation of RESTful APIs
