Strong written/verbal communication skills

·       Minimum 5+ Years of Core Java Programming with Collections Framework, Concurrent Programming, Multi-threading (Good knowledge in Executor service, Fork joins pool and other threading concepts)

·       Good knowledge of the JVM with an understanding of performance and memory optimization.

·       Extensive and expert programming experience in JAVA programming language (strong OO skills preferred).

·       Excellent knowledge on collections like, Array List, Vector, LinkedList, HashMap, Hash Table, HashSet is mandate.

·       Exercised exemplary development practices including design specification, coding standards, unit testing, and code-reviews.

A passionate developer who has a strong working knowledge of OOPS and functional programming

principles. Standard Definitions and abbreviations don't entice us that much.

Key skills:

• Strong Java and J2EE background with 5-7 years of experience.

• Strong working experience in Multi-Threading, Exception Management and the Use of Collections.

• Sound knowledge of working with application aspects i.e., Caching, Asynchronous APIs, Logging etc.

• Experience with web application frameworks like Spring Boot or Dropwizard.

• Unit Testing is an everyday affair and hence demands very good unit testing skills using tools like Junit & TestNG.

• Understanding of relational databases, RESTful services, and build tools like Maven & Gradle

• Knows what and when to mock and has used frameworks like Mockito/Power Mock.

• Understanding of message queues such as ActiveMQ, Kafka, and RabbitMQ.

•  Version Control is treated as important as programming skills. Fluent with version control tools like Git and Bitbucket.

• Exposure to Agile/Scrum, TDD not in theory but in practice.

•  Experience with Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, Static Code Analysis, Jenkins and SonarQube.

• Partner with cloud engineering group to outline the infrastructure provisioning requirements/needs for new product development.
• Design and develop CI/CD tools and process preferably using Jenkins to configure build jobs for APIs and design pipeline to promote artifacts from development all the way to production
• Experience with messaging technologies like kafka is a huge plus
• Work with Test Automation engineering team to integrate test automation scripts as part of the CI/CD process.
• Prior proven experience of utilizing and productionizing container/container orchestration technologies like Docker, kubernetes.
• Participate and Resolve issues related deployments, application performance etc.

How you fit in

Engineering is the executional function of EAGLE's software delivery wing. As a senior server-side developer at Eagle, you will drive complex projects being built from scratch, and lead the junior members of the team. Not only are you expected to write clean, tested, and maintainable code, you will also be a central part of a product team that iterates constantly, ships regularly, and learns continuously. You will have the creative freedom for learning, experimenting, and responsible risk-taking in a startup environment.

What your role consists of:

• Collaborate with engineers, UI/UX designers, and product owners to build & ship new features and maintain/enhance existing ones
• Design & develop software solutions while ensuring the solution is scalable and can handle large data, complex analytics, and multi-tenancy
• Implement best practices of test-driven development, automated deployment, refactoring and code standards
• Tackle complex problems, consider multiple solutions, and determine the best course of action
• Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack
• Help inform product prioritisation and scoping decisions by evaluating technical complexity and risk
• Work on internal tooling to improve the development experience of other engineers and ship faster and safer
• Provide junior engineers with feedback regarding application engineering methodologies, standards, and leading practices when appropriate

What you bring to this role:

• 4+ years of significant experience building scalable web applications in a distributed, collaborative, agile environment while delivering solutions on a regular cadence

• Extensive experience with distributed service architecture
• Extensive experience with modern NoSQL technologies

While the company is registered in the UK, the software delivery wing is built to be remote-first. Whether you prefer to be in situ or a digital nomad (or anything in between), you are welcome.
