Job Description Back-End Developer, Portfolio Management System Dedicated Engagement — Hurricane Capital Role Snapshot Engagement: Dedicated resource, employed/contracted through Transient.AI, invoiced to Hurricane Capital. 100% committed to Hurricane's work — not shared across accounts. Level: Mid-Level back-end developer (not junior, not principal). Location: Remote. Onshore or offshore, but must work U.S. East Coast hours. Type: Full-time, dedicated. Start: As soon as possible. MVP target: end of year. Works with: Rob and Rehan (Hurricane), plus Transient-side engineering for code review. The Work Hurricane Capital is building a portfolio management system from the ground up. This is fully Greenfield — the infrastructure does not exist yet, so you are building it, not maintaining someone else's. The immediate focus is Bloomberg connectivity and the Python back-end that market data flows through. You will be a dedicated engineer for Hurricane, working alongside Rob and Rehan in real time. Because the codebase lives on the Transient side and is reviewed before merge, you will also coordinate directly with Transient engineering. What You'll Own ● Build back-end services and APIs in Python from scratch for the portfolio management system. ● Implement and troubleshoot Bloomberg API connectivity for market data ingestion. ● Design and maintain the data layer — Postgres and SQL, with Snowflake as the cloud data warehouse. ● Work with Azure cloud infrastructure as the system requires. ● Collaborate live over Teams during East Coast hours to co-work and troubleshoot with Rob and Rehan. ● Coordinate with Transient engineering on code review and merges into the shared codebase. What Good Looks Like ● A working MVP of the portfolio management system is delivered by end of year, built in parallel with existing workstreams. ● Bloomberg connectivity is completed and stable, with market data flowing reliably through the Python APIs. ● Hurricane's work moves in real time — no waiting on cross-account turnaround, because this capacity is dedicated. ● Code clears Transient-side review cleanly, with trust established during hiring so there is no gating delay. Must Have ● Strong Python for back-end and API development. ● Hands-on Bloomberg API experience. ● Ability to work U.S. East Coast hours consistently (non-negotiable — daily live collaboration depends on it). ● Database experience: SQL and Postgres. Strong Plus ● Snowflake (cloud data warehouse). ● Azure cloud experience. ● JavaScript. ● Familiarity with capital markets or market data products. Nice for Later The MVP does not require AI/ML work. Over time the system is expected to move in that direction, so appetite to learn and grow into AI-enabled features is a genuine plus — and part of what makes this role interesting. We are seeking a highly skilled C++ Developer with 6–9 years of experience to design,

develop, and maintain high-performance software applications. The ideal candidate will

have a strong foundation in object-oriented programming, data structures, and

system-level programming, with a focus on delivering efficient and scalable

solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

 Design, develop, and maintain robust and efficient applications using C++.

 Write clean, maintainable, and optimized code following best practices.

 Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve performance bottlenecks and issues.

 Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including QA, DevOps, and Product

Management, to deliver high-quality software solutions.

 Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving coding standards.

 Prepare and maintain technical documentation for development processes and

modules.

 Work on integrating software components and third-party libraries.

 Optimize application performance and scalability for large-scale systems.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

 6–9 years of hands-on development experience in C++.

 Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming, STL, and design

patterns.

 Experience with multithreading, memory management, and performance

tuning.

 Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.

 Good understanding of network programming and socket-level communication.

 Experience working with version control systems like Git.

 Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.

 Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

 Experience with modern C++ standards (C++11/14/17 or later).

 Knowledge of database systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or NoSQL

As a Lead Backend Engineer, you will

• Build out and help scale our Django (+ReactJS / VueJS) based web application as we add new features and customers

• Help us transition from monolithic system architecture to microservices and serverless system architecture to help meet our future scaling requirements

• Collaborate on a daily basis with a small, nimble team of product managers, engineers, and UX designers to understand business requirements and user experience goals and pain points.
• Build out features to enable multi-channel customer acquisition include partner channels, enterprise channels, and government channels
• Integrate third-party plugins to enhance customer experience and internal tooling build internal tooling to improve internal team efficiencies.
• Actively participate in code reviews
• Work with our quality assurance team to improve coverage on our automated testing suites

• We will be flexible for the rest of the pandemic and work remotely; however, we are not a remote-first company, and the work location would be Bangalore when things settle.
• Our backend tech stack includes Django, FastAPI, Postgres, Redis, Clickhouse, and TigerGraph. Our environments are managed through Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
