Product Manager

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Operations Research (OR) and Optimization Engineer to design and develop an intelligent crew rostering optimizer for rail operations. The role involves applying advanced optimization techniques—including metaheuristics and mathematical programming—to generate efficient, compliant, and cost-optimized crew schedules. The candidate will also develop production-grade Python code for the optimizer and expose it via APIs for integration with operational systems.

This role combines algorithm design, applied optimization, and production software development.

Key Responsibilities

Optimization Model Design & Development

• Design and implement optimization models for rail crew rostering, considering operational, regulatory, and contractual constraints.
• Apply appropriate optimization techniques such as:
• Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP)
• Constraint Programming (CP)
• Metaheuristics (Genetic Algorithm, Simulated Annealing, Tabu Search, Large Neighborhood Search, etc.)
• Hybrid OR + metaheuristic approaches for large-scale optimization
• Model constraints including:
• Duty time limits, rest rules, and labor regulations
• Crew qualifications, route familiarity, and skill requirements
• Shift continuity, fairness, and crew preferences
• Coverage requirements and operational robustness
• Develop objective functions to optimize for cost, utilization, fairness, robustness, and operational efficiency.

Algorithm Engineering & Performance Optimization

• Design scalable and efficient optimization algorithms capable of handling real-world rail network scale.
• Implement solution heuristics and decomposition strategies to improve performance.
• Perform benchmarking, tuning, and performance optimization.

Python Development & API Integration

• Develop modular, production-quality Python code for the optimization engine.
• Expose optimizer functionality via REST APIs (using FastAPI, Flask, or similar frameworks).
• Ensure clean architecture, modular design, and extensibility.
• Package and deploy optimization services for integration with enterprise systems.

Integration & Deployment

• Integrate optimizer with upstream data systems and downstream applications.
• Support deployment in cloud or on-prem environments.
• Ensure robustness, logging, monitoring, and error handling.

Validation & Continuous Improvement

• Validate optimization outputs with domain stakeholders.
• Improve algorithms based on real-world operational feedback.
• Document models, assumptions, and system architecture.

Required Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in one of the following:
• Operations Research
• Industrial Engineering
• Computer Science (with optimization focus)

• Transportation Engineering
• Artificial Intelligence (with optimization focus)

Technical Skills

• Planning, scheduling & coordinating appointments & meetings, providing reminders, maintaining & updating diary of daily commitments & weekly calendar on a proactive basis. 

• Interacting with & rendering assistance to select HNI & VIP customers, coordinating certain critical Outdoor Catering & Party Orders, VIP reservations, etc. 

• Receiving calls, taking messages, screening & prioritizing calls & mails. 

• Taking down dictations & appropriately drafting data points & correspondences, proactively responding to queries received through calls/mails based on feedback & preferences conveyed by the Managing Director. 

• Preparing, editing & compiling agendas, minutes, correspondences & presentations. 

• Organizing & maintaining files, documents as well as other office records, both offline & online, preserving & safeguarding confidential data & documents in an efficient manner. 

• Making travel arrangements (ticketing, hotel reservations, etc.) on behalf of the Managing Director & other senior executives, coordinating with outstation visitors & proactively looking after their boarding & lodging arrangements, based on preferences conveyed by the Managing Director. 

• Undertaking primary as well as secondary research & accordingly, developing briefs, reports & presentations as per pre-determined timelines. 

• Proactively observing & recording various discussions/conversations undertaken by the Managing Director from time to time & accordingly, framing action plans. 

• Managing communication pertaining to projects, new launches as well as other such expansion & diversification undertakings that directly come under the purview of the Managing Director. 

• Imparting induction & training to select employees hired for functions that are directly or indirectly associated to those of the Managing Director’s office. 

• Coordinating with outstations suppliers & vendors (China, Italy, etc.) quotations, purchase orders, purchase/ delivery payments.  

• Responding to various inquiries - internal as well as external, acting as a point of contact between the Managing Director & other employees, tracking the work plan allocated to certain employees by the Managing Director & monitoring timelines with regard to the same. 

• Organizing & maintaining files, documents as well as other office records, both offline & online, preserving & safeguarding confidential data & documents in an efficient manner. 

• Negotiating with various suppliers, vendors & contractors, receiving competitive quotations, making comparisons, making purchases of materials & supplies based on feedback received from the Managing Director. 

• Spearheading all coordination pertaining to maintenance, upkeep & repair of corporate as well as outlet & store infrastructure (on a case to case basis), as per directions & preferences issued by the Managing Director from time to time. 

• Undertaking primary as well as secondary research & accordingly, developing briefs, reports & presentations as per pre-determined timelines. 

• Proactively observing & recording various discussions/conversations undertaken by the Managing Director from time to time & accordingly, framing action plans. 

Strong Senior Full Stack Engineer profiles

Mandatory (Experience 1) – Must have 4+ years of hands-on full stack engineering experience (avoid frontend-heavy only profiles, backend heavy will work)

Mandatory (Experience 2) – Must have strong backend engineering experience using Python, including designing and owning APIs, services, and data models in production environments

Mandatory (Experience 3) – Must have strong frontend development experience using React (or equivalent), including component architecture, state management, and building production-grade user interfaces

Mandatory (Experience 4) – Must have end-to-end ownership experience, building and shipping features across the full stack (UI + API + database) without clear handoff boundaries

Mandatory (Experience 5) – Must have strong web fundamentals, including understanding of browser rendering, performance optimization, and accessibility best practices

Mandatory (Experience 6) – Must be able to demonstrate solving complex problems on both frontend and backend, clearly articulating trade-offs, decisions, and outcomes

Mandatory (Experience 7) – Must have solid experience with databases (SQL/NoSQL), including schema design, query optimization, and handling performance bottlenecks

Mandatory (Company) - Must have worked in product-based companies, (preferred early-stage startups with Seed to Series C/D with fast-paced shipping culture)

Mandatory (Education) - Strong CS fundamentals required (CS degree or equivalent). Candidates from Tier-1 institutes (IITs, BITS, IIITs) are preferred but not mandatory

AI Agent Builder – Internal Functions and Data Platform Development Tools

About the Role:

We are seeking a forward-thinking AI Agent Builder to lead the design, development, and deployment, and usage reporting of Microsoft Copilot and other AI-powered agents across our data platform development tools and internal business functions. This role will be instrumental in driving automation, improving onboarding, and enhancing operational efficiency through intelligent, context-aware assistants.

This role is central to our GenAI transformation strategy. You will help shape the future of how our teams interact with data, reduce administrative burden, and unlock new efficiencies across the organization. Your work will directly contribute to our “Art of the Possible” initiative—demonstrating tangible business value through AI.

You Will:

•                 Copilot Agent Development: Use Microsoft Copilot Studio and Agent Builder to create, test, and deploy AI agents that automate workflows, answer queries, and support internal teams.

•                 Data Engineering Enablement: Build agents that assist with data connector scaffolding, pipeline generation, and onboarding support for engineers.

•                 Knowledge Base Integration: Curate and integrate documentation (e.g., ERDs, connector specs) into Copilot-accessible repositories (SharePoint, Confluence) to support contextual AI responses.

•                 Prompt Engineering: Design reusable prompt templates and conversational flows to streamline repeated tasks and improve agent usability.

•                 Tool Evaluation & Integration: Assess and integrate complementary AI tools (e.g., GitLab Duo, Databricks AI, Notebook LM) to extend Copilot capabilities.

•                 Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product, delivery, PMO, and security teams to identify high-value use cases and scale successful agent implementations.

•                 Governance & Monitoring: Ensure agents align with Responsible AI principles, monitor performance, and iterate based on feedback and evolving business needs.

•                 Adoption and Usage Reporting: Use Microsoft Viva Insights and other tools to report on user adoption, usage and business value delivered.

What We're Looking For:

•                 Proven experience with Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Studio, or similar AI platforms, ChatGPT, Claude, etc.

•                 Strong understanding of data engineering workflows, tools (e.g., Git, Databricks, Unity Catalog), and documentation practices.

•                 Familiarity with SharePoint, Confluence, and Microsoft Graph connectors.

•                 Experience in prompt engineering and conversational UX design.

•                 Ability to translate business needs into scalable AI solutions.

•                 Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical

Bonus Points:

•                 Experience with GitLab Duo, Notebook LM, or other AI developer tools.
