Key Responsibilities:

- Monitor for, triage, and resolve live issues in mission critical enterprise environments.

-Active Customer engagements: Work daily with customers in a proactive manner providing full lifecycle support and implementing solutions to maximize value to the customer.

-Debug issues and propose solutions: Understand the domain, product, key customer use-cases, and success-criteria, work towards these by implementing solutions the current issues and in time propose new solutions.

-Agile Development: Collaborate within an agile development environment to deliver on aggressive schedules, maintaining a high standard of quality in communications, documentation and tracking various issues.

-Feature Ownership: Take ownership of features, customers ask from inception to delivery, working with Product Management, Engineering stakeholders, Ensuring product meets the customers’ requirements and align with the overall product vision.

-Problem Solving and Optimization: Tackle complex technical challenges related to data processing, storage, and real-time monitoring, and optimize backend systems for high throughput and low latency.

-Implement Best Practices & focus on automation: In cross geo, multi-product support org, propose and implement Support centric best practices on collaboration, documentation, tracking and measuring success, and automate the repetitive tasks to ensure efficiency.

-Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including UI/UX designers, product managers, and QA engineers, to ensure smooth integration and alignment with product goals.

-Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, including system architecture, design decisions, and API documentation, to facilitate knowledge sharing and onboarding.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

- Strong domain knowledge in Networking and/or Storage Networking technologies and practices.

- 5+ years of practical experience in networking domain (an additional storage networking experience is a plus), with a focus on supporting enterprise customers.

-Strong Linux system administration skills with focus on Full-Stack troubleshooting, LAMP style hosted applications, shell scripting and performance tuning.

-Experience with Windows administration including but not limited to AD, Group Policy administration, performance monitoring, and performance tuning

- Broad experience with monitoring fundamentals and familiarity with data collection methods for key infrastructure technologies from AJAX to Xenserver

- Proven experience in troubleshooting and debugging enterprise products deployed in AWS, Cloud, and Kubernetes environments.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with customers and internal teams across geographies and time zones.

-Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and a systematic approach to issue resolution

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.

Role Overview:

Virtana is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our R&D Infrastructure team. In this role, you won't just follow conventions — you'll help redefine them. You will own the architecture, build, and day-to-day operations of the GCP-based cloud platform that powers Virtana's SaaS products and the AI-driven observability experience our Global 2000 customers depend on. This is a hands-on senior individual contributor role with meaningful technical leadership scope, working alongside engineers and architects on a unified observability platform.

Role Responsibilities:

• GCP Cloud Operations: Develop, deploy, operate, and support production cloud infrastructure primarily on GCP — leveraging GKE, BigTable, BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Storage, IAM, and core networking services.
• Reliability & SLAs: Ensure production systems are running at all times with multiple levels of redundancy to meet committed SLAs; lead incident response, root cause analysis, and post-incident reviews.
• Build & Release Automation: Design, implement, and continuously improve scalable CI/CD pipelines and test frameworks leveraged by QA and development teams across the company.
• Infrastructure as Code: Manage large-scale, repeatable deployments using Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or SaltStack; champion Git-based workflows and version control standards for distributed engineering teams.
• Security & Availability: Maintain the ongoing maintenance, security, patching, and availability of services in line with tight operations, security, and procedural models.
• Monitoring & Alerting: Plan and deliver high-value monitoring and alerting features to support operations, support, and customer-facing reliability — eating our own dog food with the Virtana Platform wherever possible.
• Capacity & Cost: Forecast capacity, plan upgrades, patches, and migrations, and drive cloud cost efficiency across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
• Cross-Functional Partnership: Work with development, operations, and support personnel to identify, isolate, and diagnose issues; handle support escalations and drive permanent fixes.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science / Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
• 5–7 years of professional hands-on DevOps / SRE experience supporting production cloud environments.
• Strong, demonstrable production experience on GCP — including GKE, BigTable, BigQuery, Dataflow, IAM, and core GCP networking services.
• Deep, hands-on expertise with container orchestration (Kubernetes) and Docker in production.
• Advanced proficiency with at least one infrastructure-as-code / configuration management tool: Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or SaltStack.
• Solid understanding of networking, firewalls, load balancers, DNS, and database operations.
• Strong working knowledge of Git-based workflows and version control standards for distributed engineering teams.
• Comfort operating hybrid environments that include both Linux and Windows ecosystems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain highly technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and within a globally distributed team.

Good to Have:

• Strong scripting skills and a demonstrated ability to automate operational toil — Python preferred; Bash, Go, or Groovy a plus.
• Hands-on experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins (Spinnaker, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI also welcome).
• Exposure to AWS or other public clouds in addition to GCP.
• Experience operating SaaS platforms built on microservices architectures.

Role Responsibilities: 

• The engineer will be primarily responsible for architecture, design and development of software solutions for the Virtana Platform 
• Partner and work closely with cross functional teams and with other engineers and product managers to architect, design and implement new features and solutions for the Virtana Platform. 
• Communicate effectively across the departments and R&D organization having differing levels of technical knowledge.  
• Work closely with UX Design, Quality Assurance, DevOps and Documentation teams. Assist with functional and system test design and deployment automation 
• Provide customers with complex and end-to-end application support, problem diagnosis and problem resolution 
• Learn new technologies quickly and leverage 3rd party libraries and tools as necessary to expedite delivery 

Required Qualifications:    

• Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience with back-end development in a Client Server Application development environment focused on Systems Management, Systems Monitoring and Performance Management Software. 
• Deep experience in public cloud environment using Kubernetes and other distributed managed services like Kafka etc (Google Cloud and/or AWS) 
• Experience with CI/CD and cloud-based software development and delivery 
• Deep experience with integrated infrastructure platforms and experience working with one or more data collection technologies like SNMP, REST, OTEL, WMI, WBEM. 
• Minimum of 6 years of development experience with one or more of these high level languages like GO, Python, Java. Deep experience with one of these languages is required. 
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering or equivalent 
• Highly effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to lead and participate in multiple projects 
• Well versed with identifying opportunities and risks in a fast-paced environment and ability to adjust to changing business priorities 
• Must be results-focused, team-oriented and with a strong work ethic 

Desired Qualifications: 

• Prior experience with other virtualization platforms like OpenShift is a plus 
• Prior experience as a contributor to engineering and integration efforts with strong attention to detail and exposure to Open-Source software is a plus 
• Demonstrated ability as a lead engineer who can architect, design and code with strong communication and teaming skills 
• Deep development experience with the development of Systems, Network and performance Management Software and/or Solutions is a plus
