Principal Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain full-stack applications using Python and React.
• Collaborate with designers, product managers, and other developers to build user-friendly interfaces and seamless APIs.
• Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• Debug and resolve technical issues promptly.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• 3–5 years of hands-on experience with Python and React.
• Strong understanding of JavaScript, ES6+, and TypeScript (preferred).
• Proficient in building RESTful APIs and integrating with frontend frameworks.
• Experience with state management libraries (e.g., Redux, Context API).
• Familiarity with databases such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
• Experience with modern build tools and package managers like Webpack, Babel, NPM, or Yarn.
• Hands-on experience with version control tools, particularly Git.
• Knowledge of containerization and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.

Primary Responsibilities

• End-to-end ownership of product development, from design, through implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance

• Translating high-level requirements and end-user use cases into design proposals, decomposing complex features into smaller, short-term deliverable tasks

• Maintaining constant focus on scalability, performance and robustness of architecture

• Designing and implementing logging, monitoring and alerting systems for existing and new infrastructure

• Documenting API's and architecture design

• Mentor and guide juniors on their path to become solid developers

   

What we look for?

• 4+ of industry experience in technical leadership roles

• Solid knowledge of Python, SQL, NoSQL, shell scripting and Linux operating environment

• End-to-end experience in design and development of highly scalable enterprise and cloud data products

• Ability to challenge and redefine existing architecture to create robust, scalable and reliable products

• Hands-on experience with design and troubleshooting of scalable web services, queue based systems, distributed databases and streaming services

• Experience with modern DevOps technologies such as kOps, Kubernetes and Docker, CI/CD, monitoring and autoscaling

Key Skills required (Items in Bold are mandatory keywords) :

1. Proficiency in Python  & Django

2. Solid understanding of Python concepts

3. Experience with some form of Machine Learning (ML)

4. Experience in using libraries such as Numpy and Pandas

5. Some form of experience with NLP and Deep Learning using any of Pytorch, Tensorflow, Keras, Scikit-learn or similar

6. Hands on experience with RDBMS such as Postgres or MySQL

7. Experience building REST APIs using DRF or Flask

8. Comfort with Git repositories, branching and deployment using Git

9. Working experience with Docker

10. Experience in deploying Django applications to AWS,Digital Ocean or Heroku

What you’ll do:

• Work closely with the founders and the team to plan, design, and build the next iterations of Dyte’s video-audio APIs.
• You will collaborate closely with other engineers of the team and lend your help in your areas of expertise.
• Build micro-services to support new functionality.
• Build best practices to improve the current API workflow.
• Help us scale our current micro-service framework to support a multi cloud, multi region environment.
• Work closely with the media and the infra team to optimise the performance and reduce the latency of our API framework.
• Help design and develop the next iteration of our observability platform.
• Mentor and hire Junior Developers.
• Ensure that our customer’s experience is the best it can be. You might have to interact with the dev team of our clients.

Who you are:

• 5+ years of experience working as a software engineer in a fast paced environment.
•  Well versed with Golang or Javascript.
• You are intensely curious and passionate about the prospect of diving deep into multiple technologies, platforms, and problem spaces, even if they are currently unfamiliar.
• You embrace uncertainty. Our space is a rapidly growing one and specifications are continuously changing.
• You care about the user experience and know-how to build user-friendly web applications.
• You have experience with continuous delivery. Experience with AWS is a bonus.
• You have a working understanding of object-oriented and functional programming paradigms.
• You care about web technologies, exploring data, and software design (and video calls!).
• You have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and can communicate your ideas.
• Experience with WebRTC, iOS, Android, or C++ development is a bonus.
• A degree in Computer Science or a similar area are bonuses.
