Job Title: Backend Engineer – Python / Golang / Rust

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate Backend Engineer to join our growing engineering team. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in building enterprise-grade, scalable backend systems using microservices architecture. You will work closely with product, frontend, and DevOps teams to design, develop, and optimize robust backend solutions that can handle high traffic and ensure system reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs.

• Architect and implement microservices-based systems ensuring modularity and resilience.

Required Skills & Experience

• Programming Expertise:

• Advanced proficiency in Python (Django, FastAPI, or Flask), OR

• Strong experience in Golang or Rust for backend development.

• Microservices Architecture: Hands-on experience in designing and maintaining distributed systems.

• Database Management: Expertise in PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, including schema design and optimization.

• API Development: Strong experience in RESTful APIs and GraphQL.

• Cloud Platforms: Proficiency with AWS, GCP, or Azure for deployment and scaling.

• Containerization & Orchestration: Solid knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.

• Messaging & Caching: Experience with Redis, RabbitMQ, Kafka, and caching strategies (Redis, Memcached).

• Version Control: Strong Git workflows and collaboration in team environments.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and cloud-native deployments.

• Proven experience working on production-grade, high-traffic applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of software architecture patterns (event-driven, CQRS, hexagonal, etc.).

• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.

• Contributions to open-source projects or strong personal backend projects.

• Experience with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Jaeger).

Our core customer-facing product today is a native Android application. In addition to this, we are building internal tools for customer support, investment management, marketing analytics and business management. In the future, we plan to hugely expand the features in our core product, build iOS and web products, and continuously improve our internal tools to better serve our customers.

For our back-end, we use Node.js / MySQL / AWS. We are currently a 3-member engineering team (1 back-end, 1 Android, 1 full stack) led by our founding engineer and advised by a senior technology executive from a leading fintech company.

Key Responsibilities of the Role

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve our software applications
• Build reusable libraries and frameworks that support complex web applications
• Set-up our technology infrastructure and integrate with 3rd party applications
• Contribute to internal discussions around product features, roadmap and technologies used
• Mentor & recruit engineers to the team
• Set up processes related to engineering & product

Skills / Required Experience:

• B.Tech / M.Tech in Computer Science or equivalent, with solid foundational knowledge in at least two general programming languages, data structures, algorithms, system architecture, security and networking protocols.
• At least 6 years of back-end development experience in a software product company is required for this role.
• Exposure to modern software development processes, multiple front-end and back-end technologies, and open-source software.
• Proficiency with tools like Gitlab/Jira/Firebase, as well as AWS and commonly used database systems etc. is required
• Experience in an early-stage startup or having founded your own startup would be good to have (but not necessary).

What we are looking for:

• 2+ years of industry experience with the Python and Django framework.
• Degree in Computer Science or related field
• Good analytical skills with strong fundamentals of data structures and algorithms
• Experience building backend services with hands-on experience through all stages of Agile software development life cycle. 
• Ability to write optimized codes,debug programs, and integrate applications with third party tools by developing various APIs
• Experience with Databases.
• Experience with writing REST-APIs.
• Prototyping initial collection and leveraging existing tools and/or creating new tools
• Experience working different types of datasets (e.g. unstructured, semi-structured, with missing information)
• Ability to think critically and creatively in a dynamic environment, while picking up new tools and domain knowledge along the way
• A positive attitude, and a growth mindset

Bonus:

• Experience with relevant Python libraries such as Requests, sklearn, Selenium
• Hands on experience in Machine learning implementations
• Experience with Cloud infrastructure (e.g. AWS) and relevant microservices

• 2+ years of experience on Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate in medium to large-scale projects
• Must have experience with at least some flavours of both SQL (MySQL, Postgres) and NoSQL (Kafka, MongoDB, ElasticSearch, NoSQL distributed cache system, DynamoDB etc), datastores in production
• Must have experience with Kafka or similar message queue systems in production
• Stellar problem solving skills
• Hunger to learn new things and ability to grasp new concepts quickly
• Ability to move quickly without breaking things too much (we are dreamers)
• Ability to work under immense pressure which is balanced by a sense of responsibility and ownership

We are looking for Django Developers who will  work on a wide range of industries namely automobile, banking, education, fashion, etc.

Skills Required: 

• Professional and precise communication skills.
• Creating self-contained, reusable, testable modules and components..
• Extensive knowledge of CSS and JS methods for providing performance visual effects and keeping the frame rate above 30fps at all times.
• Thorough understanding of the responsibilities of the platform,  database, API, caching layer, proxies, and other web services used in the system.
• Validating user actions on the client side and providing responsive  feedback.
• Writing non-blocking code, and resorting to advanced techniques such as multithreading, when needed.
• Experience with all levels of operation available to the front-end, such as from creating XHRs in vanilla JS to using a custom wrapper around resources.
• Experience with building the infrastructure for serving the front-end app and assets.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience in Backend Development
