AuxoAI is hiring a Senior Applied Scientist to design and deploy production-grade AI agents capable of structured reasoning, planning, and decision-making.

This role focuses on building intelligent agent systems that combine LLM-based reasoning with classical planning, search algorithms, and optimization techniques. The ideal candidate will develop robust agent architectures that operate reliably in real-world environments with constraints around latency, cost, uncertainty, and limited context windows.

You will work on advanced AI systems that power autonomous workflows, decision engines, and tool-driven agent ecosystems.

You will work on problems where existing architectures may not be sufficient, and will be expected to experiment with new approaches that combine machine learning, graph algorithms, and classical AI techniques to build reliable, production-grade systems.

Location - Mumbai/Bangalore/Hyderabad/Gurgaon (Hybrid - 3 Days a week in Office)

Responsibilities:

• Design and architect modular AI agent frameworks incorporating skill decomposition, tool orchestration, and persistent state tracking.
• Implement planning and search algorithms such as Monte Carlo Tree Search (MCTS), beam search, A search, heuristic search, and graph-based planning approaches* to support complex decision-making tasks.
• Develop decision-making loops that balance trade-offs between exploration vs. exploitation, cost vs. accuracy, and latency vs. reasoning depth.
• Build structured memory systems including episodic memory stores, semantic memory layers, and vector-based memory with optimized retrieval strategies.
• Design tool-calling architectures with strong execution validation, retry mechanisms, and failure recovery strategies.
• Develop evaluation frameworks to measure agent performance using task success metrics, rollout simulations, and multi-sample validation approaches.
• Improve agent performance through techniques such as distillation, synthetic trajectory generation, prompt compression, and context pruning.
• Deliver production-ready agent systems that meet operational requirements around reliability, cost efficiency, throughput, and observability.

Requirements

• 2-5 years of experience building machine learning or AI systems in production environments.
• Strong experience implementing search or planning algorithms beyond basic use cases, including tree search or heuristic-based planning approaches.
• Hands-on experience with Monte Carlo Tree Search (MCTS) or related decision-making frameworks.
• Strong understanding of state-space representations, heuristic design, and decision boundary trade-offs.
• Experience building or extensively customizing agent frameworks for real-world applications.
• Hands-on experience designing tool-use or function-calling architectures under practical system constraints.
• Strong Python engineering skills with a focus on scalable and reliable system design.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with reinforcement learning techniques such as policy gradients, value estimation, or reward modeling.
• Experience building multi-agent or collaborative agent systems.
• Experience designing evaluation frameworks for agent robustness and reliability.
• Experience optimizing LLM inference pipelines for latency, throughput, and cost efficiency.

What You Will Do:

• Gather and process raw data at scale (including writing scripts, web scraping, calling APIs, write SQL queries, manage PI data, etc.).
• Devise and deploy the core automated processes that pre-process, clean, and present the required data for further processing.
• Develop and implement standard quality checks/algorithms and continuously improve upon these in collaboration with software and marketing teams.
• Develop and deploy metrics, dashboards, and visualizations characterizing both individual accounts and corporate enterprises in analytically insightful and visually compelling ways
• Apply engineering knowledge in developing data-driven algorithms for anomaly detection, failure prediction, and optimization.
• Work closely with our field sales, marketing, and industry technical consultants to configure data aggregation and visualization platforms and sustain those platforms over time.
• Process unstructured data into a form suitable for analysis – and then do the analysis.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: B.S. (Masters’ preferred) in Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Information Technology or any other technology-related field. An equivalent of this educational requirement in working experience is also acceptable.
• Candidates must have 2 – 5 years of experience working as a PI Developer and/or PI System Manager, in a fast-paced environment and complex business setting.
• Knowledge in: Excel macros & JSON for our Refined Knowledge & CrudeFlex applications, PI AF templates, and PI Cloud Connect, PI WebAPI, C# to send data from OSIsoft PI to Microsoft SQL, APIs and web programming, Python or R languages
• The candidate must have a demonstrated experience in building and maintaining reliable and scalable ETL on big data platforms as well as experience working with varied forms of data infrastructure inclusive of relational databases such as Microsoft SQL (on-prem & Azure), Oracle, & OSIsoft PI.
• The PI Developer must further have exceptional skills in SQL server reporting services, analysis services, Salesforce, integration services, Power BI, or any other data visualization tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in analytics in the oil & gas industry is a plus.
• Experience in the Microsoft Azure stack including data factories, data gateways, & Power BI.  Experience in PI Integrator for Business Analytics is desirable.  Experience in Hadoop, Spark and other analytic technologies is a plus. Digital-enabled technology experience and passion.

The PI Developer works closely with other functional teams in the CDS organization.  Communication skills are also imperative for the PI Developer in his collaborative role where he will have to interact cross-functionally with non-technical departments. To enable effective collaborations, the PI Developer will have an exceptional ability to convey complex messages in a clear, simplified, and understandable manner. The candidate will also be required to draft reports and prepare presentations for Director – Commercial Digital Solutions (CDS) and Director – CDS Operation. These reports and presentations must be clear, concise, unambiguous, engaging, and convincing, which will demand exceptional communication skills on the PI Developer’s part.
