ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a skilled Mid-Level Python Developer & Test Automation Engineer with 3 to 5 years of experience. In this dual role, you will design and develop robust backend systems while building scalable, automated testing frameworks for both UI and backend application. You will bridge the gap between development and quality assurance, ensuring our software is both highly functional and rigorously tested.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

• Backend Development: Design, write, and maintain clean, scalable Python code for backend services and microservices.
• API Engineering: Build, integrate, and document secure RESTful or GraphQL APIs.
• Automation Frameworks: Design and maintain UI/Backend automated testing suites for unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• CI/CD Integration: Integrate automated test scripts into DevOps pipelines to enable continuous deployment.
• Bug Detection: Identify, log, and track software defects while collaborating with teams to resolve them quickly.
• Code Quality: Participate in code reviews to enforce PEP 8 standards, maintainability, and security best practices.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:

• Python Expertise: 3+ years of professional software development experience using core Python and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
• Web Frameworks: Hands-on experience with at least one major Python web framework (FastAPI, Django, or Flask).
• Testing Frameworks: Strong proficiency with automated testing tools like pytest, unittest, Selenium. Knowledge in Playwright is nice to have.
• AI assisted testing tools/frameworks: Nice to have experience with AI assisted testing tools or framework.
• Database Management: Solid experience writing complex queries for relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) or NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.
• DevOps & Tools: Proficient with Git version control and CI/CD platforms like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
• Agile Methodology: Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment with tools like Jira or Confluence.

SRE Engineer

Role Overview 

As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the availability and performance of our customer-facing platform. You will work closely with DevOps, DBA, and Development teams to provision and maintain infrastructure, deploy and monitor our applications, and automate workflows. Your contributions will have a direct impact on customer satisfaction and overall experience.

Responsibilities and Deliverables

• Manage, monitor, and maintain highly available systems (Windows and Linux)

• Analyze metrics and trends to ensure rapid scalability.

• Address routine service requests while identifying ways to automate and simplify.

• Create infrastructure as code using Terraform, ARM Templates, Cloud Formation.

• Maintain data backups and disaster recovery plans.

• Design and deploy CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Octopus, Ansible, Jenkins, Azure DevOps.

• Adhere to security best practices through all stages of the software development lifecycle

• Follow and champion ITIL best practices and standards.

• Become a resource for emerging and existing cloud technologies with a focus on AWS.

Organizational Alignment

• This role involves close collaboration with DevOps, DBA, and security teams.

Technical Proficiencies

• Hands-on experience with AWS is a must-have.

• Proficiency analyzing application, IIS, system, security logs and CloudTrail events

• Practical experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Octopus

• Experience with observability tools such as New Relic, Application Insights, AppDynamics, or DataDog.

• Experience maintaining and administering Windows, Linux, and Kubernetes.

• Experience in automation using scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, or Python.

• Configuration management experience using Ansible, Terraform, Azure Automation Run book or similar.

• Experience with SQL Server database maintenance and administration is preferred.

• Good Understanding of networking (VNET, subnet, private link, VNET peering).

• Familiarity with cloud concepts including certificates, Oauth, AzureAD, ASE, ASP, AKS, Azure Apps, 

Load Balancers, Application Gateway, Firewall, Load Balancer, API Management, SQL Server, Databases on Azure

Experience

• 7+ years of experience in SRE or System Administration role

• Demonstrated ability building and supporting high availability Windows/Linux servers, with emphasis on the WISA stack (Windows/IIS/SQL Server/ASP.net)

• 3+ years of experience working with cloud technologies including AWS, Azure.

• 1+ years of experience working with container technology including Docker and Kubernetes.

• Comfortable using Scrum, Kanban, or Lean methodologies.

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent 

experience.

I would need someone with DevOps experience, to ensure that the project is undertaken with the highest standards possible. I have had many experiences where ‘completed’ software after years of development was filled with bugs and it would be more cost-effective to start from scratch than to attempt to find and correct all the bugs.

I have attempted to learn as much as possible, but I now have an opportunity and it would better serve the venture to have someone handle the management of the project to ensure that;

• We choose the most appropriate technology
• We choose competent developers in those technologies
• The architecture and data modeling are clearly defined in a ‘blueprint’ plan
• A DevOps environment and processes are set up and the developers understand what is required
• Proper tests are carried out to ensure everything works as intended
• There are processes for testers to follow and competent testers are selected to follow them
• Accessibility, localization, and internationalization are planned ahead of time
• Security, scalability, and other future probabilities that I may not even be aware of are considered and planned ahead of time
• Documentation and code reviews, refactoring and other quality assurance processes are undertaken
• Working software is produced and systems that enable new developers or teams of people to easily take over and/or contribute new modules or updates in a controlled and organized fashion
• Cost estimates or budgets/projections or use of SaaS, hosting and other 3rd party services and applications

I am more concerned with a professional and world-class organizational system than with any particular type of software been produced as the strong foundation will enable anything to be creating with efficacy and precision.
