What You'll Do:

At LearnTube, we’re pushing the boundaries of Generative AI to revolutionize how the world learns. As a Backend Engineer, your roles and responsibilities will include:

• Ship Micro-services – Build FastAPI services that handle ≈ 800 req/s today and will triple within a year (sub-200 ms p95).
• Power Real-Time Learning – Drive the quiz-scoring & AI-tutor engines that crunch millions of events daily.
• Design for Scale & Safety – Model data (Postgres, Mongo, Redis, SQS) and craft modular, secure back-end components from scratch.
• Deploy Globally – Roll out Dockerised services behind NGINX on AWS (EC2, S3, SQS) and GCP (GKE) via Kubernetes.
• Automate Releases – GitLab CI/CD + blue-green / canary = multiple safe prod deploys each week.
• Own Reliability – Instrument with Prometheus / Grafana, chase 99.9 % uptime, trim infra spend.
• Expose Gen-AI at Scale – Publish LLM inference & vector-search endpoints in partnership with the AI team.
• Ship Fast, Learn Fast – Work with founders, PMs, and designers in weekly ship rooms; take a feature from Figma to prod in < 2 weeks.

What makes you a great fit?

Must-Haves:

• 2+ yrs Python back-end experience (FastAPI)
• Strong with Docker & container orchestration
• Hands-on with GitLab CI/CD, AWS (EC2, S3, SQS) or GCP (GKE / Compute) in production
• SQL/NoSQL (Postgres, MongoDB) + You’ve built systems from scratch & have solid system-design fundamentals

Nice-to-Haves

• k8s at scale, Terraform,

Role

You will develop and maintain the key backend code and infrastructure of the company stack. You will implement AI solutions like LLMs for various tasks such as voice-based interactive systems, chatbots, and AI web apps. Ability to see projects through from start to finish with good organizational skills and attention to detail. This is a perfect role for someone who likes to build state-of-the-art AI products and work with cutting-edge AI technologies like GPT, LLAMA, etc

Qualifications 

• BS or MS in Computer Science or relevant field.
• 4+ years experience in backend software development
• Be able to design high-throughput scalable backend systems
• Eagerness to learn applied AI technologies like LLMs, prompt engineering, etc
• Proficiency in Python.
• Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP) and technologies like Docker
• Knowledge of Rest APIs, databases (mysql, mongo, vectorDB)

• Lead the development of the backend systems for our first product
• Build reliable, secure and performant backend systems
• Drive test coverage and continuous delivery automation within the team
• Mentor and provide feedback to teammates

Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience
• Strong computer science fundamentals
• Deep and wide knowledge of Python ecosystem
• Can write code that is readable, maintainable, secure and performant
• Know the importance of tests and how to approach writing different types of tests
• Good intuition for REST API design
• Deep understanding of relational databases, transactions, entity-relationship modeling
• Comfortable writing highly concurrent systems
• Experienced in using profilers, tuning garbage collection, optimizing SQL queries

• Deliver features in an end-to-end manner: technical design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Provide technical leadership and own specific areas of the platform.
• Work closely with Product Managers to translate product requirements to engineering specifications.
• Lead code review efforts and quality efforts in your area of ownership.
• Participate in product discussions, taking ownership and initiative.
• Work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Mentored and guide junior engineers.

Must Haves:

• Minimum 2 years of working experience in Ruby on Rails/ Python/ Node.JS.
• Strong problem-solving skills, data structures, and algorithms.
• Excellent experience on databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.
• Familiarity with tools for code reviews, version control (GIT).
• A knack for writing clean, readable Ruby/ Python/Node.JS code.
• Experience in application server hosting and monitoring.
• Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application.

Nice to Have:

• Hands-on with search platforms (Solr, Elasticsearch, etc).
• Prior experience with microservices-based architecture/SOA/distributed systems.
• Able to implement automated testing platforms and unit tests.
• Experience with common AWS service EC2, RDS, S3, SES, etc.

This person MUST have:

• B.E Computer Science or equivalent
• 5 years experience with the Django framework
• Experience with building APIs (REST or GraphQL)

• React.js knowledge would be an added bonus 
• Understanding on how to use a database like Postgres (prefered choice), SQLite, MongoDB, MySQL.
• Sound knowledge of object-oriented design and analysis.
• A strong passion for writing simple, clean and efficient code.
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools Git.
• Strong communication skills.

Timings:

• 40 hours a week but with 4 hours a day overlapping with client timezone.  Typically clients are in California PST Timezone.

• Design and build the system which enables the logistics team to store and deliver 15 million products per month to customers across 20 cities in India
• Work on the vision, roadmap, and processes that make customer delivery experience more delightful
• Work across teams to design a platform that scales and is flexible enough for various kinds of future scenarios
• Work on optimizing the whole logistics supply chain from warehouse to customer
• Innovate to improve the efficiency of the existing supply chain systems
  Desired skills & abilities:
• 3-6 years of experience in software development
• B.Tech. / B.E. degree in Computer Science or equivalent software engineering degree/experience
