Role Summary:
We are looking for a Java Lead to join Deqode’s backend engineering team. This role requires deep hands-on expertise in Java technologies along with the ability to lead a team and drive complex technical implementations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take ownership as Lead Developer for backend services.
- Manage a team of 5-7 Java developers; mentor and guide juniors.
- Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to coding best practices.
- Contribute in writing clean, testable, scalable code using Java and Spring Boot.
- Own and drive technical design discussions and implementations.
- Work with cross-functional teams: Frontend, QA, DevOps, Product, and 3rd parties.
- Ensure robust unit testing, code coverage, and maintain high quality deliverables.
- Troubleshoot defects and support production deployments.
Required Skills:
- 7+ years of Java development experience
- Expertise in Spring Boot and REST APIs
- Strong experience in Microservices Architecture
- Knowledge of Netflix OSS or Spring Cloud
- Proficient in writing JUnit test cases
- CI/CD pipeline experience in real-time projects

Technology skill sets required for a matching profile
1. Work experience between 2 years to 8 years in building large scale high user traffic consumer facing applications with desire to work in a fast paced startup.
2. Knowledge on reactive and asynchronous programming is preferable. If you have worked with coroutines, goroutines, high concurrency or optimized number of threads for processing on your backend server you could be a good fit.
3. Extremely proficient at writing performant, scalable and production ready code in Kotlin, Java (8 or above, comfortable with concepts like lambda, streams, multithreading etc), Elixir, Rust, or Golang. Should be familiar with static code analysis, code coverage and code reviews.
4. Experience with NoSQL DBs like MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis or Aerospike is required.
Knowledge of graph DBs like Neo4j is preferred.
5. Strong in algorithms, problem solving and data structures.
6. Knowledge of TDD and experience with building applications integrated with CI-CD pipelines (automated build, tests and deployments).
7. Exposure to micro-services with good understanding of containers, kubernetes, logging, alerting and monitoring. Inter services communication. Should know how to handle multiple versions of APIs.


• As a member of the development team, become deeply familiar with the product goals, and provide thought leadership on the technical aspects of realizing the product goals
• Contribute to the SDLC best practices, modeled after contemporary industry standards, and ensure the practices are diligently followed
• Encourage automation in various aspects of software development such as code reviews, unit tests, continuous integration, system testing. Identify appropriate tools, and create best practices around automation
