Lead Backend Engineer

We’re building financial data systems that power real business decisions — and we need someone who knows how to make Django, PostgreSQL, Celery, and APIs play nicely at scale.

You know what clean, reliable backend systems look like — because you’ve built them. You’ve handled authentication quirks, rate limits, and webhooks; you build code that’s maintainable, performant, and correct.

If you’re curious about financial data, transactions, and KPIs, and enjoy turning numbers into insight, this role is for you. (Experience with banking or accounting APIs is a big plus.)

What You’ll Do

• Build and maintain Django-based systems using Celery for async and scheduled tasks
• Integrate and manage data from multiple APIs (banking, accounting, analytics, etc.)
• Design and optimize internal APIs
• Improve reliability, scalability, and performance
• Collaborate closely with product and frontend engineers

Your Profile

You’re an experienced backend engineer who is strong in all core areas of modern Python development:

• Python, Django, Django REST Framework
• Celery and asynchronous / distributed task handling
• PostgreSQL and robust data modeling
• Docker and containerized deployment workflows
• Unit testing (pytest or equivalent) and maintainable test structures
• Git, CI/CD, and reliable deployment automation
• API integrations (REST, OAuth, webhooks)
• Caching strategies & background job handling (preferred Redis experience)
• Solid understanding of security, permissions, and performance optimization

You’ve already built or scaled production-grade systems and can take ownership from architecture to deployment.

Experience with fintech or data integration systems is an advantage.

• 5+ years experience in a highly technical role at a hyper-growth startup or fast-paced company.
• Extensive background designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and improving software.
• Good understanding of Node.js & Javascript.
• Demonstrated ability to translate business goals and initiatives into technical requirements.
• Strong understanding of SQL database.
• Demonstrable experience architecting scalable and cost effective solutions to ensure and support customer growth.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers in all aspects of planning, development and testing.
• Strong understanding of system design and architecture.
• Interest in engaging with latest technologies and evaluating strategies to keep the Novo technology stack up to date.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical teams effectively.

Required Skills:

• 3+ year of experience in Development in JAVA technology.
• Strong Java Basics

• Hands on experience on Relational Databases (SQL query or Hibernate) + Mongo (JSON parsing)

Good to Have Skills:

• 3+ years of experience in using Java/J2EE tech stacks

Node.js Developer Responsibilities:

• Developing and maintaining all server-side network components.

Roles and responsibilities:

• Responsible for understanding functional and business requirements and translate them into effective code
• Provide support till deployment of code into production.
• Ownership for ensuring code optimization, problem diagnosis, and on-time delivery
• Implement solutions as per the pre-defined framework /guidelines and adherence to processes
• Finding an optimal solution for the problem statement
• Conduct peer code review.

What candidate should know about:

• Excellent hands-on experience with Node.Js, Express.Js, JavaScript
• Understanding the nature of asynchronous programming and its quirks and workarounds
• Excellent hands-on experience with MongoDB, Mongo aggregation, MySQL
• Ability to build REST services, Authentications, MVC applications
• Excellent Object Oriented Programming skills and ability to write modular, secure, scalable, and maintainable code
• Experience with Elastic Search, Redis.
• Knowledge about AWS components (S3, EC2, Cloudfront, Redis Clusters, etc.)
• Self-learning abilities are required
• Familiarity with upcoming new technologies is a strong plus
