About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Backend Engineer who can own complex product and platform problems end-to-end. You will work across AI agents, workflow orchestration, enterprise integrations, and distributed systems that operate reliably in real-world IT environments.

This role requires strong engineering judgment, product thinking, and the ability to transform ambiguous requirements into scalable, production-ready systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Build the core platform powering agentic IT operations.
• Design reliable multi-step workflows with retries, approvals, rollback mechanisms, and recovery.
• Develop AI pipelines for intent understanding, planning, validation, and execution.
• Build integrations with Microsoft 365, PSA, RMM, and other IT management platforms.
• Design secure, scalable multi-tenant enterprise systems.
• Improve production observability, monitoring, and reliability.
• Own major features from architecture and development through deployment and production support.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to raising the technical standards of the team.

Required Skills & Experience

• 6–10 years of experience building backend platforms, distributed systems, or enterprise applications.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and system design expertise.
• Experience building REST APIs, asynchronous/event-driven systems, databases, and cloud-native applications.

Job Description:

We are looking for a Lead Java Developer – Backend with a strong foundation in software engineering and hands-on experience in designing and building scalable, high-performance backend systems. You’ll be working within our Digital Engineering Studios on impactful and transformative projects in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor backend development teams.
• Design and develop scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Ensure high standards of code quality through best practices such as SOLID principles and clean code.
• Participate in pair programming, code reviews, and continuous integration processes.
• Drive Agile, Lean, and Continuous Delivery practices like TDD, BDD, and CI/CD.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and clients for successful delivery.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 9–12+ years of experience in backend development (Up to 17 years may be considered).
• Strong programming skills in Java and backend frameworks such as Spring Boot.
• Experience in designing and building large-scale, custom-built, scalable applications.
• Sound understanding of Object-Oriented Design (OOD) and SOLID principles.
• Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies, TDD/BDD, CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, Docker, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Good understanding of cloud technologies – especially AWS, and exposure to GCP or Azure.
• Experience working in a product engineering environment is a plus.
• Startup experience or working in fast-paced, high-impact teams is highly desirable.

Essential Skills:

3. Profound insight of Java and JEE internals (Data structure, Algorithm and time complexity, Memory Management, Transaction management etc)
4. Excellent knowledge of Relational Databases, SQL and ORM technologies (JPA2, Hibernate)
5. Experience in the Spring Framework
6. Experience in developing web applications using at least one popular web framework (JSF, Wicket, GWT, Spring MVC) and UI technology (Angular/React JS)
7. Ability to operate independently while establishing strong working relationships with co-workers and cross-functional teams

9. Demonstrate critical attention to detail and deadlines, and are self-motivated

1. Knowledge in any UI technology (Angular, React, JS)
2. Intermediate level knowledge of Unix environment (User commands, not System Admin commands)

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (About 10 - 11 years and at least 9 years relevant experience)

Develop Java webservices and components according to a detailed design document.

Build efficient, reusable and reliable Java code per industry best practices.

Follow TDD approach and ensure unit-test coverage meets quality requirements.

Develop Integration tests to ensure coding adheres to acceptance criteria and verify end-to-end behavior of the system.

Ensure best possible performance, quality and responsiveness of applications.

EXPERIENCE / SKILLS

Must have experience developing in Java latest version (least version is 8)

Must have experience in design and development using Micro service architecture

Solid knowledge in OOP concepts, and design principles/patterns for developing scalable applications

Must have experience developing Spring Boot applications

Must have experience developing database access layer using Spring Data JPA/Hibernates

Must have experience in developing REST Services using Spring

Good working experience in development of event driven systems using any framework

Must have experience with any RDBMS and at least one NoSQL database preferably PostgresSQL and Mongo DB

• Hands on Java experience with minimum 8 yrs. More experience is a plus but need to be hands on.

• Experience of designing and developing end-to-end solutions.
