Responsibilities
- Our Site reliability engineers work on improving the availability, scalability, performance, and reliability of enterprise production services for our products as well as our customer’s data lake environments.
- You will use your expertise to improve the reliability and performance of Hadoop Data lake clusters and data management services. Just as our products, our SRE are expected to be platform and vendor-agnostic when it comes to implementing, stabilizing, and tuning Hadoop ecosystems.
- You’d be required to provide implementation guidance, best practices framework, and technical thought leadership to our customers for their Hadoop Data lake implementation and migration initiatives.
- You need to be 100% hand-on and as a required test, monitor, administer, and operate multiple Data lake clusters across data centers.
- Troubleshoot issues across the entire stack - hardware, software, application, and network.
- Dive into problems with an eye to both immediate remediations as well as the follow-through changes and automation that will prevent future occurrences.
- Must demonstrate exceptional troubleshooting and strong architectural skills and clearly and effectively describe this in both a verbal and written format.
Requirements

- 4+ years of designing, implementing, tuning, and managing services in a distributed, enterprise-scale on-premise and public/private cloud environment.
- Familiarity with infrastructure management and operations lifecycle concepts and ecosystem.
- Hadoop cluster design, Implementation, management and performance tuning experience with HDFS, YARN,
- HIVE/IMPALA, SPARK, Kerberos and related Hadoop technologies are a must.
- Must have strong SQL/HQL query troubleshooting and tuning skills on Hive/HBase.
- Must have a strong capacity planning experience for Hadoop ecosystems/data lakes.
- Good to have hands-on experience with – KAFKA, RANGER/SENTRY, NiFi, Ambari, Cloudera Manager, and HBASE.
- Good to have data modeling, data engineering, and data security experience within the Hadoop ecosystem.Good to have deep JVM/Java debugging and tuning skills.
● Manage AWS services and day to day cloud operations.
● Work closely with the development and QA team to make the deployment process
smooth and devise new tools and technologies in order to achieve automation of most
of the components.
● Strengthen the infrastructure in terms of Reliability (configuring HA etc.), Security (cloud
network management, VPC, etc.) and Scalability (configuring clusters, load balancers,
etc.)
● Expert level understanding of DB replication, Sharding (mySQL DB Systems), HA
clusters, Failovers and recovery mechanisms.
● Build and maintain CI-CD (continuous integration/deployment) workflows.
● Having an expert knowledge on AWS EC2, S3, RDS, Cloudfront and other AWS offered
services and products.
● Installation and management of software systems in order to support the development
team e.g. DB installation and administration, web servers, caching and other such
systems.
Requirements:
● B. Tech or Bachelor's in a related field.
● 2-5 years of hands-on experience with AWS cloud services such as EC2, ECS,
Cloudwatch, SQS, S3, CloudFront, route53.
● Experience with setting up CI-CD pipelines and successfully running large scale
systems.
● Experience with source control systems (SVN, GIT etc), Deployment and build
automation tools like Jenkins, Bamboo, Ansible etc.
● Good experience and understanding of Linux/Unix based systems and hands-on
experience working with them with respect to networking, security, administration.
● Atleast 1-2 years of experience with shell/python/perl scripting; having experience with
Bash scripting is an added advantage.
● Experience with automation tasks like, automated backups, configuring fail overs,
automating deployment related process is a must have.
● Good to have knowledge of setting up the ELK stack; Infrastructure as a code services
like Terraform; working and automating processes with AWS SDK/CLI tools with scripts

Here’s what we’re looking for:
- You have 2+ years* of experience using two or more development languages (Java, JavaScript, Ruby, C#, etc.) with experience in Object-Oriented programming
- You can write clean, high-quality code in a variety of languages and are also able to spot (and improve) bad code
- You’re resilient in ambiguous situations and can approach challenges from multiple perspectives
- You have experience with Agile, Lean and/or Continuous Delivery approaches such as Continuous Integration, TDD, Infrastructure as Code, etc.
