Shopify and AI Developer – Full-Time Remote

AlphaPixels Media is a Canadian digital marketing agency serving clients across North America. We build complete growth systems for our clients: e-commerce stores, CRM pipelines, AI tools, and marketing automation. We are hiring a technical all-rounder who lives at the intersection of web development, automation, and AI, and who takes pride in clean, finished work.

The role

You will be the technical backbone of our client delivery. Your first project is a complete Shopify store build for an established North American business, followed by ongoing store builds, CRM setups, automation pipelines, and AI tool deployments across our client base. You take a brief and deliver working systems.

What you will do

• Build Shopify stores from scratch: theme setup, customization, custom sections (Liquid, HTML, CSS, JavaScript), payments, shipping, taxes, multi-currency
• Build conversion-focused product pages and landing pages
• Implement 301 redirect maps for site migrations without losing SEO rankings
• Set up and manage CRM systems: pipelines, calendars, forms, SMS and email sequences, workflow automations (GoHighLevel experience is a strong advantage)
• Build automations with Make (Integromat), Zapier, webhooks, and REST APIs connecting stores, CRMs, sheets, and ad platforms
• Deploy and configure AI tools: website chatbots, AI receptionists and voice agents, and content pipelines using OpenAI, Claude, or similar APIs
• Install tracking (Meta pixel, GA4, conversion APIs) and third-party widgets
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve everything you build

Must have

• 3+ years hands-on web development with live Shopify stores you personally built
• Strong Liquid, HTML, CSS, JavaScript
• Real experience building automations with Make, Zapier, or direct API integrations
• Working knowledge of AI APIs and prompt-based tools (chatbots, LLM integrations)
• Comfortable using AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar) in your daily workflow
• At least one full store migration or replatforming experience
• Strong written English and reliable daily communication
• Self-managed: you take a brief and return finished, tested work

Hours

Flexible, with a minimum 3-hour overlap with Canadian Central Time mornings (approximately 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM IST).

Design, develop, and maintain full-stack web applications using the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js)

Build reusable, efficient, and scalable front-end components using React.js and modern JavaScript (ES6+)

Develop RESTful APIs and microservices using Node.js and Express.js

Design and optimize database schemas, queries, and indexing strategies in both MongoDB and PostgreSQL

Qualification 

● 1-5 years of experience as a Software Engineer or similar, focusing on software development and system integration 

● Proficiency in Node.js, Typescript, React, Express framework 

● In-depth knowledge of databases such as MongoDB 

● Proficient in HTML5, CSS3, and responsive UI design 

● Proficiency in any Python development framework is a plus 

● Strong direct experience in functional and object oriented programming using Javascript 

● Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred) 

● Microservices architecture and containerization 

● Expertise in performance monitoring, tuning, and optimization 

● Understanding of DevOps practices for automated deployments 

● Understanding of software design patterns and best practices

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Build scalable and loosely coupled services to extend our platform
• Build bulletproof API integrations with third-party APIs for various use cases
• Evolve our Infrastructure and add a few more nines to our overall availability
• Have full autonomy and own your code, and decide on the technologies and tools to deliver as well operate large-scale applications on AWS
• Give back to the open-source community through contributions on code and blog posts
• This is a startup so everything can change as we experiment with more product improvements

Some specific Requirements:

• Atleast 2+ years of Development Experience
• You have prior experience developing and working on consumer-facing web/app products
• Hands-on experience in JavaScript. Exceptions can be made if you’re really good at any other language with experience in building web/app-based tech products
• Expertise in Node.JS and Experience in at least one of the following frameworks - Express.js, Koa.js, Socket.io (http://socket.io/)
• Good knowledge of async programming using Callbacks, Promises, and Async/Await
• Hands-on experience with Frontend codebases using HTML, CSS, and AJAX
• Working knowledge of MongoDB, Redis, MySQL
• Good understanding of Data Structures, Algorithms, and Operating Systems
• You've worked with AWS services in the past and have experience with EC2, ELB, AutoScaling, CloudFront, S3
• Experience with Frontend Stack would be added advantage (HTML, CSS)
• You might not have experience with all the tools that we use but you can learn those given the guidance and resources
