Are You Up To The Challenge?

As our Software Engineer - Frontend you’ll be designing and producing excellent web interfaces, working closely with the server and analytics teams. 

Your Team Mates

The frontend team consists of both our frontend developers and designers, we work closely with all parts of the business to create tools that vary across the whole company, from the publishing team to create a portal for people to submit games, the marketing team on things like our website, all the way to our internal teams for things like administration and analytics.

What Does The Job Actually Involve?

• You'll be working directly with the server and client teams to create our games server admin interfaces. And closely with the analytics team developing features for our analytics platform.
• A portion of the work involves maintaining/improving our extensive games server admin interface and our in-house Analytics platform.
• You will be working with a lot of different technologies that make up our worldwide cluster where we support millions of daily players.
• On some projects specific gameplay features rely on server side counterparts and complex web UI interfaces making for a good change of pace from Analytics and Data entry interfaces.

Your Hard Skills

• Minimum 2 years browser-based programming experience
• A proven track record of programming high quality and innovative web pages using Javascript, HTML5 & CSS3 and relevant frameworks (ideally ReactJS but could also be others e.g. AngularJS, NodeJS, Handlebars, jquery, gulp)
• An excellent working knowledge of various programming languages, databases and scripting tools including at least one of bash, MySQL, CouchBase, Python, Java, C#, JSP, PHP
• A creative mindset motivated by challenges and constantly striving for the best
• Interest in mobile games

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Determining the structure and design of web pages.

• Ensuring user experience determines design choices.

• Developing features to enhance the user experience.

• Striking a balance between functional and aesthetic design.

• Ensuring web design is optimized for smartphones.

• Building reusable code for future use.

• Optimizing web pages for maximum speed and scalability.

• Utilizing a variety of markup languages to write web pages.

• 1+ years of experience in related field

• Solid understanding of how the web works and its underlying communication protocols.

• Understanding of key design principles.

• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript(ES5 & ES6)

• Knowledge of JavaScript framework React.js

• Experience with responsive and adaptive design.

• Understanding of SEO principles.

• Good problem-solving skills.

• Develop Proof-of-Concept and prototype applications using new technologies and frameworks. In addition to collaborating with internal teams and clients to create innovative solutions.
• Help establish GUI best practices and JavaScript frameworks for web development.
• Provide context and guidance for integration and implementation of Front-End Interfaces
• Translate wireframes, comps, and functional requirements into functional HTML/ CSS / Javascript.
• Develop standards-compliant mark-up and code for web sites and applications
• Develop JavaScript using standard Frameworks (jQuery, etc.)
• Develop small to medium size custom JavaScript libraries for reuse across the application
• Provide technology and implementation expertise to the domain, projects, or client
• Maintain leading-edge knowledge in emerging technologies and frameworks
• Participate in knowledge sharing and lessons learned sessions from project experiences

Experience in years: 3+.  Less than 7.

Type: Individual contributor with good hands on proficiency.

Specifics:

• Writing HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Being up on latest practices is a must, e.g., HTML5, CSS3, and ECMAScript 6 (minimum)
• Familiarity with a relevant and globally supported framework— both front-end and back-end, if necessary — React & React Native.
• Ideally, familiarity with CSS preprocessors, bundlers, and associated languages/syntaxes/libraries - Sass, Less, webpack
• Experience implementing testing platforms and unit tests
• Integrating front-end UI with the constructed API, using REST, GraphQL api

Soft skills:

• Appreciation for clean and well documented code

What you will do at Tradyl

• Partner with a highly skilled external consultancy and lead the effort of building a new modern front end to our website. 
• We use a no code platform for rapid development in this phase of our Journey. You will develop features on this platform. This might involve integration with back end APIs via REST.  
• Do short experiments: Example,  Evaluate a backend headless commerce software as a potential candidate for our backend tech stack.

Learn from the best: Learn from leaders who have built Comm100 from ground up. Work under other engineers who handle different layers of the infrastructure.

Work in a data-driven team: Understand the importance of validating assumptions about user behaviour. Use various types of testing to ensure we're right (or discover where did we go wrong). Utilize data collection, enrichment, analytics, and visualizations to improve our systems.

KEY SKILLS

• Strong computer system analysis and design skills in current methodologies and patterns including vanilla JavaScript,

• Familiar with web security, SEO, accessibility, and internationalization.
