Job Summary

Vihaas Design Technologies is seeking an experienced Embedded Developer with a focus on microcontroller-based systems for telecommunications applications. As part of our team, you will design, develop, and maintain embedded systems that integrate seamlessly with our advanced communication solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize embedded firmware for microcontrollers, ensuring efficient performance and low power consumption.
• Write clean and maintainable C/C++ code for low-level microcontroller programming and peripheral interfacing.
• Implement drivers and manage communication between microcontrollers and external devices via I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, and other protocols.
• Integrate microcontrollers with sensors, actuators, and modules, ensuring smooth hardware-software interaction.
• Debug and troubleshoot using tools like oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers, resolving issues in hardware-software integration.
• Collaborate with hardware teams, optimizing firmware for resource and power efficiency in battery-powered devices.
• Work with RTOS or bare-metal systems as needed, ensuring real-time performance in embedded applications.
• Maintain code integrity through Git, manage repositories, and write comprehensive documentation for firmware architecture.
• Provide post-deployment support, including firmware updates and system integration.

Qualifications

• 3-4 years in embedded development focused on microcontroller systems.
• Proficient in C/C++ with experience in low-level programming and peripheral management.
• Solid understanding of microcontroller architectures (e.g., MSC-51, STM ARM Cortex-M, AVR, PIC) and peripheral interfaces (e.g., GPIO, ADC, DAC, PWM, Timers).
• Hands-on with communication protocols like I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, and real-time performance with RTOS or bare-metal systems.
• Strong debugging skills using hardware tools (oscilloscopes and logic analyzers).
• Knowledge of low-power design and firmware optimization for energy-efficient systems.

Requirements:

• Strong C/C++ programming and debugging skills in a Linux environment.
• Experience with Design Patterns, ACE Framework, and Socket Programming.

What you’ll do at Ather:

A successful candidate is expected to lead the Firmware development and integration effort for various Ather products and be responsible for qualifying and integrating FW at various stages with HW. Responsibilities include:

• Understanding requirements from different stakeholders and translating these to application features

• Writing high quality source code to program complete applications within deadlines

• Unit-testing code for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability

• Performing functional and non-functional testing

• Troubleshooting and debugging applications

• Designing creative prototypes according to specifications

• Evaluating existing applications to reprogram, update and add new features

• Developing technical documents and handbooks to accurately represent application design and code

• Identifying and communicating possible risks along with preventive and corrective measures

• Designing HW/SW integration while working with HW/Algorithms/Cloud teams to deliver an integrated solution.

• Create conceptual system designs, assess risks, conduct design trade studies, and develop a product that meets feature requirements for integrating sensor, processing and software systems. 
• Lead innovative system development projects with responsibility for achievement of cost, schedule, and technical requirements, with an eye toward technology maturation, transition, and follow on work. 
• Generate comprehensive engineering documentation.
• Responsible for end-to-end system firmware development to include power management, boot loaders, scheduling, RTOS and /or bare metal implementations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex software problems in embedded real-time systems.
• Source code development, review & maintenance (C/C++).
• Dive into & take ownership of critical design issues.
• Analyse & propose solutions for performance bottlenecks.
• Address all aspects of technology readiness, including manufacturability.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
