Role and Responsibilities:

• Participate in the creation and maintenance of CI/CD solutions and pipelines.
• Leverage Linux and shell scripting for automating security and system updates, and design secure architectures using AWS services (VPC, EC2, S3, IAM, EKS/Kubernetes) to enhance application deployment and management.
• Build and maintain secure Docker containers, manage orchestration using Kubernetes, and automate configuration management with tools like Ansible and Chef, ensuring compliance with security standards.
• Implement and manage infrastructure using Terraform, aligning with security and compliance requirements, and set up Dynatrace for advanced monitoring, alerting, and visualization of security metrics. Develop Terraform scripts to automate and optimize infrastructure provisioning and management tasks.
• Utilize Git for secure source code management and integrate continuous security practices into CI/CD pipelines, applying vulnerability scanning and automated security testing tools.
• Contribute to security assessments, including vulnerability and penetration testing, NIST, CIS AWS, NIS2 etc.
• Implement and oversee compliance processes for SOC II, ISO27001, and GDPR.
• Stay updated on cybersecurity trends and best practices, including knowledge of SAST and DAST tools, OWASP Top10.
• Automate routine tasks and create tools to improve team efficiency and system robustness.
• Contribute to disaster recovery plans and ensure robust backup systems are in place.
• Develop and enforce security policies and respond effectively to security incidents.
• Manage incident response protocols, including on-call rotations and strategic planning.
• Conduct post-incident reviews to prevent recurrence and refine the system reliability framework.
• Implementing Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and maintaining Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to ensure high standards of service delivery and reliability.

Best suited for candidates who: (Skills/Experience)

• Up to 4 years of experience in a related field, with a strong emphasis on learning and execution.
• Background in IT or computer science.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), and programming languages like Python, JavaScript, or Ruby.
• Solid understanding of network layers and TCP/IP protocols.
• In-depth understanding of operating systems, networking, and cloud services.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a 'hacker' mindset.
• Knowledge of security principles, threat modeling, risk assessment, and vulnerability management is a plus. 
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, GWAPT, OSCP) are a plus.

As part of the Cloud Platform / Devops team at Upswing, you will get to work on building state-of-the-art infrastructure for the future. You will also be –

• Building Infrastructure on AWS driven through terraform and building automation tools for deployment, infrastructure management, and observability stack

Problem Statement-Solution

Only 10% of India speaks English and 90% speak over 25 languages and 1000s of dialects. The internet has largely been in English. A good part of India is now getting internet connectivity thanks to cheap smartphones and Jio. The non-English speaking internet users will balloon to about 600 million users out of the total 750 million internet users in India by 2020. This will make the vernacular segment one of the largest segments in the world - almost 2x the size of the US population. The vernacular segment has very few products that they can use on the internet.

One large human need is that of sharing thoughts and connecting with people of the same community on the basis of language and common interests. Twitter serves this need globally but the experience is mostly in English. There’s a large unaddressed need for these vernacular users to express themselves in their mother tongue and connect with others from their community. Koo is a solution to this problem.

About Koo

Koo was founded in March 2020, as a micro-blogging platform in both Indian languages and English, which gives a voice to the millions of Indians who communicate in Indian languages.

Currently available in Assamese, Bengali, English, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu, Koo enables people from across India to express themselves online in their mother tongues. Technology skill sets required for a matching profile 

• Experience between 3 to 7 years in a devops role with mandatory one or more stints at a fast paced startup.
• Mandatory experience with containers, kubernetes (EKS) (setting up from scratch), istio and microservices.
• Sound knowledge of technologies like Terraform, Automation Scripts, Cron jobs etc. Must have worked with goals of putting infra as code like setting up new environments with code.
• Knowledge of industry standards around monitoring, alerting, self healing, high availability, auto scaling etc.
• Exhaustive experience with various cloud technologies (especially on AWS) like SQS, SNS, Elastic Search, Elastic Cache, Elastic Transcoder, VPC, Subnets, Security groups etc.
• Must have set up stable CI-CD pipelines with capabilities to do zero downtime deployments on any one of rolling updates, blue green or canary modes.
• Experience with VPN and LDAP solutions for securely login to infrastructure and proving SSO. 8. Master of deploying and troubleshooting all layers of application from network, frontend, backend and databases (MongoDB, Redis, Postgres, Cassandra, ElasticSearch, Aerospike etc).

• Candidate should have good Platform experience on Azure with Terraform. 
• The devops engineer needs to help developers, create the Pipelines and K8s Deployment Manifests. 
• Good to have experience on migrating data from (AWS) to Azure. 

• To manage/automate infrastructure automatically using Terraforms. Jenkins is the key CI/CD tool which we uses and it will be used to run these Terraforms. 
• VMs to be provisioned on Azure Cloud and managed. 
• Good hands-on experience of Networking on Cloud is required. 
• Ability to setup Database on VM as well as managed DB and Proper set up of cloud hosted microservices needs to be done to communicate with the db services. 
• Kubernetes, Storage, KeyValult, Networking (load balancing and routing) and VMs are the key infrastructure expertise which are essential. 

• Requirement is to administer Kubernetes cluster end to end. (Application deployment, managing namespaces, load balancing, policy setup, using blue green/canary deployment models etc). 
• The experience in AWS is desirable. 
• Python experience is optional however Power shell is mandatory. 
• Know-how on the use of GitHub 
• Administration of Azure Kubernetes services 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for design, implementation, and continuous improvement on automated CI/CD infrastructure
• Displays technical leadership and oversight of implementation and deployment planning, system integration, ongoing data validation processes, quality assurance, delivery, operations, and sustainability of technical solutions
• Responsible for designing topology to meet requirements for uptime, availability, scalability, robustness, fault tolerance & security
• Implement proactive measures for automated detection and resolution of recurring operational issues
• Lead operational support team manage incidents, document root cause and tracking preventive measures
• Identifying and deploying cybersecurity measures by continuously validating/fixing vulnerability assessment reports and risk management
• Responsible for the design and development of tools, installation procedures
• Develops and maintains accurate estimates, timelines, project plans, and status reports
• Organize and maintain packaging and deployment of various internal modules and third-party vendor libraries

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience with good technical knowledge regarding build, release, and systems engineering

Technical Skills:

• Experience with Apache, Nginx, Tomcat, Prometheus ,Grafana
• Ability to learn/use a wide variety of open-source technologies and tools
• Sound understanding of cloud technologies preferably AWS technologies

• 6 years of experience in DevOps practices, with a good understanding of DevOps and Agile principles
