Role Overview :

We are a funded AI startup seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to design, implement, and maintain a secure, scalable, and efficient infrastructure. In this role, you will focus on automating operations, optimizing deployment processes, and enabling engineering teams to deliver high-quality products seamlessly.

Key Responsibilities:

Infrastructure Scalability & Reliability :

• Architect and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS, GCP, or Azure for high availability, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
• Implement container orchestration using Kubernetes or Docker Compose.
• Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Pulumi or Terraform to manage and configure infrastructure.

Deployment Automation :

• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar tools.
• Implement deployment strategies such as canary or blue-green deployments, and create rollback mechanisms to ensure seamless updates.

Monitoring & Observability :

• Leverage tools like OpenTelemetry, Grafana, and Datadog to monitor system health and performance.
• Establish centralized logging systems and create real-time dashboards for actionable insights.

Security & Compliance :

• Securely manage secrets using tools like HashiCorp Vault or Doppler.
• Conduct static code analysis with tools such as SonarQube or Snyk to ensure compliance with security standards.

Collaboration & Team Enablement :

• Mentor and guide team members on DevOps best practices and workflows.
• Document infrastructure setups, incident runbooks, and troubleshooting workflows to enhance team efficiency.

Required Skills :

• Expertise in managing cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• In-depth knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, and IaC tools like Terraform or Pulumi.
• Advanced scripting capabilities in Python or Bash.
• Proficiency in CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar.
• Experience with observability tools like Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and Datadog.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for debugging production systems and optimizing performance.

Preferred Qualifications :

• Experience in scaling AI or ML-based applications.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and microservices architecture.
• Understanding of agile methodologies and DevSecOps practices.
• Certifications in AWS, Azure, or Kubernetes.

We are hiring DevOps Engineers (6 months - 1 year experience) to join our DevOps team. You will work on infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipelines, cloud deployments, container orchestration, and system reliability.

This role is ideal for someone who wants to work with modern DevOps tooling and contribute to high-impact engineering decisions.

What You Will Be Doing

CI/CD Pipeline Management

• Design, implement, and maintain efficient CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.
• Automate build, test, and deployment processes to increase delivery speed and reliability.

Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

• Provision and manage infrastructure on AWS, Azure, or GCP using Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
• Maintain scalable, secure, and cost-optimized environments.

Containerization & Orchestration

• Build and manage Docker-based environments.
• Deploy and scale workloads using Kubernetes.

Monitoring & Alerting

• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting systems using Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Datadog, or similar.
• Develop dashboards and alerts to detect issues proactively.

System Reliability & Performance

• Implement systems for high availability, disaster recovery, and fault tolerance.
• Troubleshoot and optimize infrastructure performance.

Scripting & Automation

• Write automation scripts in Python, Bash, or Shell to streamline operations.
• Automate repetitive workflows to reduce manual intervention.

Collaboration & Best Practices

• Work closely with Development, QA, and Security teams to embed DevOps best practices into the SDLC.
• Follow security standards for deployments and infrastructure.
• Work efficiently with Unix/Linux systems and understand core networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, NAT, VPN, TCP/IP).

What We’re Looking For

• Strong understanding of Linux distributions (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL) and Windows environments.
• Proficiency with Git and experience using GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket.
• Ability to write automation scripts using Bash/Shell or Python.
• Basic knowledge of relational databases like MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with web servers such as NGINX or Apache2.
• Experience working with AWS, Azure, GCP, or DigitalOcean.
• Foundational understanding of Ansible for configuration management.
• Basic knowledge of Terraform or CloudFormation for IaC.
• Hands-on experience with Jenkins or GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of Docker for containerization.
• Basic exposure to Kubernetes for orchestration.
• Familiarity with at least one programming language (Java, Node.js, or Python).

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with the development team to plan, execute and monitor deployments
• Capacity planning for product deployments
• Adopt best practices for deployment and monitoring systems
• Ensure the SLAs for performance, up time are met

Key Competencies (Functional):

• Proficiency in coding in atleast one scripting language - bash, Python, etc
• Has personally managed a fleet of servers (> 15)
• Understand different environments production, deployment and staging
• Worked in micro service / Service oriented architecture systems
• Has worked with automated deployment systems – Ansible / Chef / Puppet.
• Can write MySQL queries

Objectives :

• Building and setting up new development tools and infrastructure
• Working on ways to automate and improve development and release processes

• Identifying technical problems and developing software updates and ‘fixes’
• Working with software developers and software engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities :

• Deploy updates and fixes
• Build tools to reduce occurrences of errors and improve customer experience
• Develop software to integrate with internal back-end systems
• Perform root cause analysis for production errors

• Design procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance

Skills and Qualifications :

• Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering or BSc in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field
• 3+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar software engineering role
• Proficient with git and git workflows
• Good logical skills and knowledge of programming concepts(OOPS,Data Structures)
• Working knowledge of databases and SQL
• Problem-solving attitude

Your skills and experience should cover:

• 5+ years of experience with developing, deploying, and debugging solutions on the AWS platform using ALL AWS services such as S3, IAM, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, Cognito, Cloudtrail, CodePipeline, Cloud Formation, Cloudwatch and WAF (Web Application Firewall).

• Amazon Web Services (AWS) Certified Developer: Associate, is required; Amazon Web Services (AWS) DevOps Engineer: Professional, preferred.

• 5+ years of experience using one or more modern programming languages (Python, Node.js).

• Hands-on experience migrating data to the AWS cloud platform

• Experience with Scrum/Agile methodology.

• Good understanding of core AWS services, uses, and basic AWS architecture best practices (including security and scalability)

• Experience with AWS Data Storage Tools.

• Experience in Configure and implement AWS tools such as CloudWatch, CloudTrail and direct system logs for monitoring.

• Experience working with GIT, or similar tools.

• Ability to communicate and represent AWS Recommendations and Standards.
