Preferred Qualifications

 

 

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering with specialization in Computer science or related field
• 4-10 years of experience as a software engineer in a product development setting
• Deep experience in Python with demonstrated ability to build modern products
• Experience in designing APIs and integration patterns, implementing secure and sustainable products with a focus on quality and scalability
• Experience in FastAPI, Django, or equivalent
• Experience in data modeling and efficient usage of PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or equivalent
• Experience with modern components like async python, pedantic, sqlalchemy, alembic, celery, google products API integration, etc. is a plus
• Understanding of CI/CD practices including code check-in policies, automated unit tests, automated code deployments, etc.
• Experience in other programming languages is a plus, especially Javascript and/or Typescript
• Experience building feature-rich and scalable web apps is a plus
• Ability to grasp new technologies and use them effectively to create industrial-strength software

 

💥 What will you do?

As a Lead Backend Engineer, you will

• Build out and help scale our Django (+ReactJS / VueJS) based web application as we add new features and customers

• Help us transition from monolithic system architecture to microservices and serverless system architecture to help meet our future scaling requirements

• Collaborate on a daily basis with a small, nimble team of product managers, engineers, and UX designers to understand business requirements and user experience goals and pain points.
• Build out features to enable multi-channel customer acquisition include partner channels, enterprise channels, and government channels
• Integrate third-party plugins to enhance customer experience and internal tooling build internal tooling to improve internal team efficiencies.
• Actively participate in code reviews
• Work with our quality assurance team to improve coverage on our automated testing suites

• Prior experience of a few years (3+ years) with python based frameworks as Django or Flask would be essential to work on our application stack.

• You actively promote a culture of engineering excellence some of which could be writing efficient code, use of elegant design patterns, and styling your code through code-linting policies.

• You enjoy designing software architecture by collaborating with engineering managers, architects, and other lead engineers to explore existing systems, determining areas of complexity, potential risks to successful implementation.

• We will be flexible for the rest of the pandemic and work remotely; however, we are not a remote-first company, and the work location would be Bangalore when things settle.
• Our backend tech stack includes Django, FastAPI, Postgres, Redis, Clickhouse, and TigerGraph. Our environments are managed through Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.

Job Description 
XB is looking for driven & talented engineers to build highly scalable, reliable and performant cloud-
based platforms to drive the logistics business. You will have opportunities to make a big impact at XB
on the software solutions being built for Logistics businesses. We build a variety of technology products
that span multiple businesses. 
The challenges that SDEs at XB solve are big (handle 50 Lakh shipments per day!) and influence the E-
Commerce business in India in coming years. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about
creating new products, features, and services from scratch while managing ambiguity and the fast pace
of the company. The challenges span areas like highly scalable and reliable orchestration
platforms, Client Integration API frameworks, Billing Solutions, Workforce Engagement. Further you may
solve complex optimization problems like Vehicle routing, Allocation, Network Optimization etc. 
Roles & Responsibilities 

 You will be responsible for working with cross functional teams to deep dive into the
business and technology problems related to our portfolio of products, understanding the
gaps that exist in our current tools, and work within our team and with partner teams to
design best in class solutions.  
 You will have the opportunity to influence, invent, and design system architecture
across multiple product and technology spaces. 
 You will lead and mentor other talented engineers. You will be responsible for building
the best customer experience, keeping latency, security, and usability in mind. 
 You will interact with Product Managers and Designers and convert their vision into
a technical solution.  
 You will own portions of software deliverables including major critical path code from
your designs while finding opportunities to grow and mentor the team around you. 
 You will collaborate with other engineering leads and guide the team on software
development best practices and set examples by using them in solutions that you build.  
 You will own the end-to-end design of major deliverables, working closely with a team
of SDEs and Front-End Engineers to execute them. This is a high visibility and fast-paced
environment where you will make a direct impact on the customer experience and the
bottom line of the company. 

 
 You should have a commanding understanding of object-oriented design, data
structures and algorithms which you use to mentor a team of engineers. You should have
experience with agile methodologies, experience building scalable services and robust user
interfaces. We make extensive use of AWS Services (API Gateway, Lambda, SQS, etc.) and
prior experience is a plus. Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (like angular,
react, backbone, and node.js) would be a plus. 

Qualifications 

 Experience developing cloud software services and an understanding of design for
scalability, performance, and reliability. 
 Development experience defining, developing and maintaining web service API's 
 Demonstrated ability to mentor other software developers to maintain architectural
vision and software quality. 
 Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior
management to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs,
and product strategy. 
 Experience taking a leading role in building complex software systems that have been
successfully delivered to customers. 
 Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full
software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control
management, build processes, testing, and operations. 
 Experience with distributed computing and enterprise-wide systems 
 Deep understanding of CS fundamentals including data structures, algorithms and
complexity analysis. 
 Experience building large-scale, high-performance systems in a complex, multi-tiered,
distributed environment. 
 Design and architecture expertise as well as familiarity with object-oriented analysis and
design patterns (OOA/OOD). 
 Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

Understand systems enabling third party integration 

Translate business requirements to the APIs and SDKs exposed by these systems. Figure out the optimum interfaces to interact with these. 

Build generic connectors to interact with these technologies. 

Design, implement, deploy and maintain the connectors. 

Minimum Qualifications 

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related fields. 

Experience needs to be around 8+ years 

Strong problem-solving skills. 

Ability to understand the technology and its APIs in quick time. 

Strong design pattern fundamentals. 

Good core java skills like Multi-threading, collection framework. 

Good communication and mentorship skills 

Ability to put together architecture diagrams and designs
