Oni Cares is a health care startup with the vision to cater to the initial years of child development starting from the pregnancy period. This initial period has impact for the rest of life and sets the base for Immunity, health, social quotient, emotional quotient and intellectual quotient.
Human development and more specifically the brain starts to develop in week 4 of pregnancy. The brain is the only organ which is not fully developed at birth. The brain grows 4X in the first 2 years of life. 80% of human EQ is developed in the first 4 years of life. In the next 20 years, EQ is what matter considering access of information and hence IQ alone would not be a differentiator.
Parents have no formal education in parenting. Pregnancy, New-borns and Early childhood are extremely complex and the breaking of family structure causes increased complexity in modern world. Also, changing lifestyles, poor physical fitness, and poor emotional health increase the complexity and poor health of our future generations Parents - the primary caregiver in the first 1,000 days of life need to be educated and provided with tools to handle this. A formal process like any other education which an individual takes. From an emotional standpoint, the customer is at its weakest. What they require is quality advise at the right time.
Medical fraternity / Gynaecs - the primary medical point of contact, have limited time purely because of the poor patient to doctor ration. The average transaction time is limited to 4-5 mins max, once a month. With the almost 80 changes which a mother goes through during pregnancy, her list of questions to adapt to these changes in unlimited. Outcome: she search for them in google. The data available is not scientific / research based. It is a peer-to-peer sharing of personal experience and remedies that may or may not have worked.
Data in the space is unavailable purely because of its form being physical. Medical science is purely observational and the impact is to be computed over long studies. Hence this space has challenges of lack of data which can be used to substantiate any claims / observations. Hence experience counts as quality. It has become an industry with the top ObGyns doing phenomenally well, vis-a-vis freshers having limited business and requirements to establish credibility in the market.
The space is poised for disruption. Service, Data, Aggregation would lead to increased value generation both for the market /trade and also the customers.
