General Manager – Sales & Barter Deals

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead the Sales & Barter Deals team at BXI – Barter Exchange of India. The role involves managing Pan-India sales operations, driving annual revenue goals,

and ensuring strong business governance through P&L, MIS, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the Pan-India sales team to achieve revenue targets.

• Manage P&L, MIS, and business reporting for performance tracking.

• Build CXO-level relationships and close high-value barter deals across categories: Media, Hotels, Gift Vouchers & Electronics.

• Represent BXI at national industry forums and networking events.

• Ensure operational efficiency and day-to-day team performance.

• Travel across India to support team activities and client engagements.

Requirements

• Education: MBA preferred.

• Experience: 6–10 years in Sales / Business Development, including 4+ years in leadership.

• Proven track record of managing P&L and delivering revenue growth.

• Strong leadership, client management, and negotiation skills.

• Strategic thinker with execution focus; open to extensive travel.

Requirements:

• MS or PhD. in Statistics, or a related field, with relevant work experience, preferably in a laboratory science environment.
• Demonstrated application of statistical methods, including descriptive and inferential statistics, general linear and mixed models and statistical design of experiments.
• Strong computational/programming skills: proficient in programming with html, R, Python, SQL or equivalent, knowledge of a variety of commercial statistical/computational packages, familiar with Linux, cloud computing and high performance computing environment.
• Independently develop and deploy statistical / computation applets using Python and R.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, with an ability to clearly explain statistical concepts in the context of experimental goals.
• Good team player with demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships.
• The ability to be independent and learn new skills quickly.
• Flexibility to manage multiple projects and stakeholders concurrently.

Desired:

• Coursework in a scientific discipline (chemistry, biology, engineering).
• Prior experience working in pharmaceutical research and development.
• Knowledge of data visualization tools such as Spotfire or Tableau.

Job Summary

You will be responsible for driving sales of Flight, Hotel, and Holiday bookings by making outbound calls to travel agents, managing the entire sales cycle from lead generation and quoting to final payment follow-up.

Key Responsibilities

1. Outbound Sales & Lead Generation:

• Initiate outbound calls to travel agents to generate sales leads for company offerings (Flight, Hotel, & Holidays).
• Actively cold call business owners and utilize referrals, direct mail, email, and networking to develop a database of qualified leads.

1. Sales and Quoting:

• Listen to customer (travel agent) requirements and present product/service information appropriately to close the sale.
• Ensure that price quotes are sent promptly to all qualified leads.

1. Follow-up and Payment:

• Conduct timely follow-ups with travel agents after quotes have been sent.
• Manage payment follow-ups and ensure all payments are secured before the travel dates.

1. Client Relationship Management:

• Source and develop strong client relationships and referrals.
• Maintain the customer database by inputting customer profiles, updates, and preparing monthly reports.

1. Team & Knowledge:

• Attend all team meetings and actively share best practices with colleagues.
