Why this role exists

ThunderClap is a branding-led design agency. We’ve scaled from 0 to 33 people and $1.8 Million revenue - in under two years.

We started as a Webflow-first agency and today, we partner with fast-growing B2B companies on websites that support positioning, content, and growth - not just visuals.

As client needs expand beyond Webflow, WordPress has become a recurring requirement - especially for content-heavy sites, performance-sensitive builds, and teams that already operate inside WordPress.

We want to build this capability deliberately.

That means clear technical standards, strong architecture, and long-term ownership. This role exists to create and lead that WordPress practice from the ground up.

This is not a page-builder role. This is ownership.

What you’ll own

• The WordPress tech stack at ThunderClap

• Code quality, performance, and scalability
• Hiring, mentoring, and reviewing future WordPress developers

You’ll be the first WordPress specialist on the team, with the mandate to define how this function is built and scaled.

This role is for you if

• You have 5–7+ years of hands-on WordPress experience, with a strong background in an agency or client-services environment.
• You’ve led or owned WordPress projects end to end, not just executed tickets.
• You’ve built custom themes and/or plugins and are comfortable working in PHP.
• You have solid fundamentals in PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• You understand WordPress internals - hooks, actions, filters, REST API, and rendering flow.
• You care deeply about performance, security, and maintainability.
• You’ve mentored developers, reviewed code, or set standards for others.
• You communicate clearly with designers, PMs, and clients, and can explain trade-offs without hiding behind jargon.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build WordPress websites ranging from marketing sites to complex, content-heavy builds.
• Own WordPress-only projects end to end in an agency setup - timelines, scope changes, and client communication included.
• Design and maintain custom themes and reusable components.
• Ensure best practices across performance, security, accessibility, and SEO.
• Collaborate closely with design, accounts and marketing teams for clean, predictable execution.
• Define standards, workflows, and documentation for WordPress work at ThunderClap.
• Mentor, review, and eventually manage future WordPress developers.
• Manage freelancers or contractors when required and maintain quality.

If your experience is limited to assembling themes and plugins without touching PHP or architecture decisions, this won’t be a fit.

You’ll work on content-heavy marketing sites, performance-sensitive builds, and WordPress setups designed to integrate with existing internal teams. Different industries, different maturity levels, different constraints. You won’t be boxed into one type of build.

Position - RoR Developer

Responsibilities - 

Candidate should 

• Write clean, maintainable and efficient code
• Design robust, scalable and secure features
• Contribute in all phases of the development lifecycle
• Follow best practices (test-driven development, continuous integration, SCRUM, refactoring and code standards)
• Drive continuous adoption and integration of relevant new technologies into design.

Skills -

• Proven work experience in software development
• Demonstrable knowledge of front-end technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS and JQuery
• Experience developing highly interactive applications
• A firm grasp of object oriented analysis and design
• Passion for writing great, simple, clean, efficient code
• Good knowledge of relational databases
• Working knowledge of NoSQL databases

Experience - 3 years of experience as a Ruby on Rails developer

• Create an engaging and knowledgeable online Shopify store to increase sales and revenue
• Extensive knowledge in HTML5
• Create bespoke Shopify themes and change pre-existing templates per pre-defined brand guidelines
• Be an expert in all aspects of the ECommerce platform
• Work with the UX and UI Design Teams to create unique, strong, and inventive front-end user experiences
• Ensure a smooth connection with Marketing Tools, Platform APIs, and Shopify Apps to optimize the shop for overall efficiency and functionality
• Test and debug websites regularly to improve performance
• Based on their findings, they provide technical support and coordination, protecting enterprises against failure
• Increase conversion rates by optimizing your website

We are looking for a Full Stack Developer, to be a core member of our Engineering Team, who is a great problem solver, can learn quickly, and communicate clearly. You like to work in a fast-paced environment, want to own the work, get recognized for it and therefore startup environment excites you.

Responsibilities

• Work on end to end website development including frontend, backend and deployment. Build useful and handy tools in field of Admissions and consultancy
• Work on the core platform for Higher Education Aspirants with respect to admissions, resume building, interview experiences and application for B-Schools
• Build efficient, testable, and reusable modules and components
• REST API development for integration with frontend web components which would be easy to manage and scale
• Accurately understand and translate business and user needs into functional backend or frontend code to build robust features
• Participate in a culture of code reviews, writing tech specs, and collaborating closely with other people
• Writing standalone services with business logic to support automation workflows and integrations
• Support Marketing and Operations team with small tools, scripts or automations across multiple tools

Criteria

Hunger for learning and getting out of comfort zone to build amazing web applications & websites would be enough. Otherwise

• Basic understanding of backend, database and Server technologies
• Knowledge of Frontend technologies (HTML, CSS, JS, ReactJS, VueJS)
• Knowledge of atleast one Backend technologies (NodeJS, Python, ROR, GoLang etc)
• Understanding and knowledge of Database technologies (MySQL, MongoDB)
• Clear understanding of RESTful API development standards.
• Creating database schemas that represent and support business processes. Integration of multiple data sources and databases into one system.
