• Work very closely with the Head of Engineering and the CEO directly
• Own major parts of our tech stack (Node.js/React.js) and your job will be focused primarily on backend (Node/SQL/MQs etc.), but with some front-end JS work (React) as needed
• Design, code, and deliver top-quality software that performs beautifully at scale
• Take ownership for your job and treat it like it is your baby
• This job is based in Chennai (NOT Remote). But we have a lot of flexibility for when life situations require you to work from home
• We are only a 40 person company (by choice) - so you will get amazing ownership!

A Bit About You.

• Really strong in Javascript especially in Node.js with at least 5 years of experience - if you are genuinely not super strong, please do not apply as you will find our interviews challenging and it might be a waste of your time
• Also has React.js experience so that you can support the front-end work as needed
• A strong Engineer who LIKES building software - not just someone who knows the frameworks and can code
• We don't care about college degrees or if you are self taught - we only care that you're exceptional in your work and can be professional
• Must have strong communication skills
• Must be organized, and deliver their own work within deadlines, professionally
• Strong sense of ownership and take pride in your work.

Settlin is a PropTech DFY (done-for-you) and ‘The digital broker’ - the first of its kind and the only end-to-end platform (from Property Intent to Registration) - majorly targeted for ‘Resale Home’ Buying. Despite all the digital transformations everywhere, proptech for residential property resale and purchase, has been limited to classifieds (DIYs) so far.

All retail & services industries across India and the globe witnessed the shi from DIY startups to more fundamental DFY unicorns - eg. Justdial to Flipkart, OLX to Spinny. Except Property buying.

With the technology and the capability to execute millions of property inspections across geographies at the same time, by deploying a white-collar gig-workforce, Settlin is the first and only end-to-end platform for resale and purchase of residential Real Estate.

What is your role?

Engineers at Settlin are expected to

- be strong problem solvers with a deep understanding of how to make soware modular. If you’ve ever built a complete application/module all by yourself, that’s a major plus - train and coach other engineers on the team

What should you have mandatorily?

Full Stack Developer - Responsibilities:

1. Perform design, development and support of existing and new products.
2. Understand product vision and business needs to define product requirements and product architectural solutions.
3. Develop architectural and design principles to improve performance, capacity, and scalability of product.
4. Work with Product Manager in planning and execution of new product releases.
5. Consult business management team to clarify objectives and functional requirements for new or modified products.
6. Work with domain, product management and product engineering teams in the solution engineering efforts.
7. Work with pre-sales and product management teams in solution demonstrations.
8. Maintain product roadmap and architectural standards that assure product development projects optimally align with business objectives.
9. Define product validation policies so as to deliver products that meet system and project expectations.
10. Facilitate the creation, review, and sign off of project deliverables.
11. Provide support for production escalations and problem resolution for customers.
12. Assist technical team with issues needing technical expertise or complex systems knowledge.
13. Develop broad knowledge about current and future product features.
14. Analyze market segments and customer base to develop market solutions.
15. Define product requirements that address market opportunities.

Skills:

Spring, Spring Microservices, Spring Data, SPRING BOOT & HIBERNATE, Java, JPA Oracle Certified Professional (Desirable), Java SE 8, SQL, AWS, JavaScript, Angular, ElasticSearch

• Expertise in Java server-side development: Core Java, Golang Servlets, Spring Core, React JS, Spring Boot with GRPC, and Hibernate.
• Exposure to microservice design patterns.
• Good knowledge in Data Structures, Algorithms, Object-Oriented Design, Analysis, Design patterns, and other computer science concepts.
• Knowledge of GraphQL, Kafka, PostgreSQL will be added advantage.
