Job Description – Senior Java Developer (Spring Boot / Microservices)

About the Role:

We are looking for a highly skilled Java Developer with over 5 years of hands-on experience in building scalable backend systems using Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices architecture. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, deep knowledge of backend frameworks, and a solid understanding of JUnit-based testing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend systems using Java and Spring Boot
• Develop and deploy RESTful microservices in a distributed architecture
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features
• Write clean, scalable, and testable code following best practices
• Implement unit and integration tests using JUnit and other testing frameworks
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving team processes
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in a timely manner

Key Skills:

• Strong proficiency in Java
• Expertise in Spring Boot and related modules (Spring Data, Spring Security, etc.)
• Solid understanding of Microservices architecture, REST APIs, and inter-service communication
• Experience with JUnit and writing automated test cases
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git)
• Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus
• Exposure to messaging systems like Kafka or RabbitMQ is a plus
• Familiarity with databases (SQL/NoSQL)

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including front-end developers, product managers, and designers, to understand project requirements and translate them into technical specifications.

• Design and develop server-side logic, APIs, and database schema to support the functionality and performance requirements of our SaaS platform.

• Write clean, modular, and well-documented code using any relevant programming language preferably Java with SpringBoot.

• Optimize the backend systems for maximum speed and scalability, ensuring high performance and responsiveness of the application.

• Implement data storage solutions using PostgreSQL or other relational databases, ensuring data integrity and security.

• Conduct thorough testing and debugging to identify and resolve any issues or bugs in the backend code.

• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in backend development and contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes.

Requirements:

• Proven work experience as a Backend Developer or similar role, with a focus on server-side development.

• Proficiency in working with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, and writing efficient SQL queries.

• Familiarity with SaaS concepts and architecture.

• Experience with API design and development, including RESTful APIs.

• Solid understanding of software development principles, including object-oriented programming, design patterns, and data structures.

• Experience with version control systems, such as Git.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with keen attention to detail.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred, but not mandatory

As a Backend Engineer you will be responsible for creating REST APIs which are used to drive the User Interface. Given the nature of the application, these APIs need to be very efficient and high performing. This requires optimizing queries for faster execution and introducing database changes that may be required. Responsibilities:

• Develop, test, implement and maintain application software
• Take part in software and architectural development activities

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• 3+ years of experience with Java and Spring frameworks.
• Having good knowledge in a scripting language like python is a plus
• Experience with Spring and Hibernate/ ORM
• Understanding of relational database and normal forms
• Understanding of NoSQL / RDBMS (Mongo or Postgres) and ability to write optimized and high performing queries
• Strong understanding of Java concurrency, concurrency patterns, experience building thread safe code
• Experience building RESTful web services
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Experience with GIT as a VCS, Unix based systems
