Sr. Developer - Python

Location: Bangalore/ Mangalore 

Experience required: 1-3 years.  

Key skills: Python, Django/Flask and FastAPI, databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL and MongoDB) 

We are seeking a skilled Python Developer with 1-3 years of experience who can contribute as an individual performer while also supporting technical decision-making and mentoring junior developers. The role involves designing and building scalable backend systems using Django/Flask and FastAPI, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions. 

Responsibilities:  

• Develop robust, scalable, and efficient backend applications using Python (Django/Flask and FastAPI). 
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs that are secure, performant, and easy to integrate. 
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver seamless and impactful software solutions. 
• Participate actively in all phases of the software development life cycle: requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance. 
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code that meets industry best practices. 
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing systems for performance and scalability. 
• Contribute ideas for continuous improvement in development processes and team culture. 

 Requirements:  

• 1-3 years of hands-on development experience in Python, with proficiency in frameworks like Django/Flask and FastAPI. 
• Strong understanding of OOP concepts, design principles, and design patterns. 
• Solid experience working with databases. 
• Good knowledge of designing and consuming RESTful APIs. 
• Comfortable working with version control systems like Git and collaborating in code reviews. 
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is an added advantage. 
• Familiarity with Docker and containerized application development is a plus. 
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines is desirable. 
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills. 
• Solid experience working with databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL and MongoDB)

Core Responsibilities:

• Design & Development: Architect and implement scalable backend services and APIs using Python or Golang, ensuring high performance, resilience, and extensibility.
• System Ownership: Take end-to-end ownership of critical modules, from design and development to deployment and support.
• Technical Leadership: Conduct design and code reviews, enforce best practices, and mentor junior engineers to raise the team’s technical bar.
• Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, architects, and other engineers to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Performance & Reliability: Troubleshoot complex issues in production systems, identify root causes, and design sustainable long-term solutions.
• Innovation: Evaluate new technologies, contribute to proof-of-concepts, and recommend tools that can improve developer productivity.
• Process Improvement: Drive initiatives to improve coding standards, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing practices.
• Knowledge Sharing: Document designs, create technical guides, and share insights with the broader engineering team.

Experience and Expertise:

• 4–7 years of backend development experience with Python or Golang.
• Strong expertise in designing, developing, and scaling microservices and distributed systems.
• Solid understanding of concurrency, multi-threading, and performance optimization.
• Proficiency with databases (SQL/NoSQL), caching systems (Redis, Memcached), and messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).
• Hands-on experience with Linux development, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) and related services.
• Strong debugging, profiling, and optimization skills for production-grade systems.
• Experience with AI-powered development tools is a strong plus; familiarity with concepts like 'agentic coding' for workflow automation or 'context engineering' for leveraging LLMs in system design is highly desirable.

Required Skills:

• Experience in implementing Object-Oriented Python, Django.
• Good understanding on Django
• Experienced in interfacing with *third party API’s using REST
• Worked with varieties of Relational Databases (RDBMS) like SQLite, MySQL, PostgreSQL.
• Experience in Version Control with Git and Bitbucket.
• Experience with JIRA the development progress and tracking deadlines of the project

You have 5 years or more of Backend end development experience with expertise in designing and implementing high-performance applications.

Worked with and built high-performance products using Node Js/GoLang/ Python and have seen the product evolution cycle from PoC to Production

You have a deep understanding of design principles and can rightly judge/implement solutions to complex problems

You are capable of writing high-quality code that conforms to the standards and best practices in a particular language/framework.

You have experience building a product using a mainstream library or framework.

You love to own end to end responsibility, starting from defining the problem statement (either yourself or alongside your peers), development (PoC if needed), testing, releasing in staging & then production environment, and finally monitoring.
