About the Role

Important: Laravel-only experience is not qualifying; proven Symfony experience is mandatory!!!

We’re hiring a Senior PHP & Symfony Software Engineer to work on mission-critical backend systems where code quality, reliability, and accountability are non-negotiable. This role goes far beyond feature delivery; it’s about engineering craftsmanship, technical ownership, and building systems you can truly stand behind.

You’ll be part of a highly collaborative Agile team, working closely with product, QA, and other engineers across the full lifecycle from ticket definition and design through testing, review, and production deployment. This role is ideal for someone who values clean architecture, Test-Driven Development, thoughtful technical decisions, and mentoring others while building robust, scalable solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality backend systems using PHP and Symfony
• Own features end-to-end, from ticket creation and technical design to production release
• Write clean, strongly-typed, maintainable, and testable code that meets strict quality standards
• Apply design patterns thoughtfully and consistently
• Build and maintain comprehensive automated test coverage using PHPUnit and similar tools
• Follow and promote Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices
• Use static analysis, linters, and code quality tools to ensure reliability and consistency
• Participate actively in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback
• Collaborate closely with product, design, and QA teams to deliver robust solutions
• Break down complex initiatives into well-defined, actionable tasks and guide implementation
• Monitor systems and participate in a rotating on-call schedule when required
• Promote secure coding practices and ensure code is free from known vulnerabilities
• Document architecture, decisions, and processes to support team-wide knowledge sharing
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and contribute to a strong engineering culture

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience with PHP (7.4 / 8+)
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with the Symfony framework
• Strong understanding and practical use of design patterns
• Solid experience with unit and integration testing (PHPUnit, Behat, or similar)
• Hands-on experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD)
• Familiarity with static analysis tools (PHPStan, Psalm, or similar)
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, code coverage, and deployment workflows
• Excellent technical communication skills and ability to explain and defend technical decisions
• High ownership mindset and strong sense of accountability

Nice-to-Have

• Experience working with MongoDB
• Familiarity with JavaScript, React, Node.js, and/or TypeScript
• Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes
• Experience working on high-availability or mission-critical systems

Role Overview

As a PHP Developer – Pimcore & Symfony, you will design, develop, enhance and support enterprise applications and digital experience solutions using Pimcore, Symfony and PHP. You will customize Pimcore, build integrations and APIs, work with complex product and digital asset data, and collaborate with Solution Architects, Tech Leads, PMs, QA and DevOps in a client-focused consulting environment.

Location: Noida, Sector 62 (Full-time, On-site)

Key Responsibilities

Pimcore Development

• Design, develop, customize and maintain enterprise solutions using Pimcore.
• Configure and extend Data Objects, Assets, Documents, Class Definitions, Relations and Workflows.
• Develop PIM and DAM capabilities for complex product information and digital assets.
• Build custom Pimcore bundles, services, event listeners and extensions.
• Develop product-data models, classifications, attributes, validation rules and workflows; support bulk import/export and data synchronization.
• Work with Pimcore DataHub, REST APIs and GraphQL; integrate Pimcore with ERP, CRM, eCommerce, marketplaces and third-party platforms.

PHP & Symfony Development

• Build scalable backend applications and services using PHP 8+ and Symfony.
• Apply strong OOP, MVC, design patterns and clean-code principles.
• Build and consume RESTful APIs; work with Composer, dependency injection, Symfony services, events and console commands.
• Optimize application performance, database queries, caching and backend processing.

Data & Integration

• Work with MySQL/MariaDB and relational data models.
• Develop integrations for product, customer, asset and reference data across enterprise systems.
• Implement data validation, transformation, mapping, error handling and reconciliation; troubleshoot data-quality issues.

Quality, Delivery & Collaboration

• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies – sprint planning, estimation, stand-ups and retrospectives.
• Perform unit testing, debugging, peer code reviews and root-cause analysis.
• Support deployments, production troubleshooting and post-release activities.
• Follow secure coding, version control and documentation best practices.
• Contribute to technical design discussions and guide junior developers where appropriate.

AI-Enabled Engineering

AI is part of how we build. You should be comfortable using AI-assisted development tools to improve coding, testing, debugging, documentation, code reviews and productivity – while reviewing and validating AI-generated output before it reaches production.

Required Qualifications

• 3–6 years of professional PHP development experience.
• Hands-on development experience with Pimcore (Data Objects, Assets, Documents, Class Definitions).
• Strong experience with Symfony and PHP 8+.
• Experience developing or supporting PIM and/or DAM solutions.
• Strong understanding of OOP, MVC, design patterns and clean coding.
• Experience building RESTful APIs and integrating enterprise systems.
• Strong SQL skills with MySQL or MariaDB; experience with Git.
• Experience debugging application and integration issues in Agile environments.

Preferred Skills

• Pimcore: Workflows, DataHub, GraphQL, Import/Export, product-data modeling.
• Backend: Composer, JSON, OAuth/JWT, queues/background processing.
• Frontend exposure: JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap/Tailwind, Twig, React or Vue.js.
• Database & caching: PostgreSQL, Redis.
• DevOps: Docker, Linux, Apache/Nginx, CI/CD pipelines.
• Cloud: AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Experience in IT consulting/technology services, eCommerce, CMS, enterprise integrations or multi-client environments.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline.
