As a Lead Engineer in the Founding Engineering Team, youʼll help set the technical direction and build the core systems that everything else will run on—product architecture, engineering standards, and AI-first capabilities embedded into real workflows. This is a challenging environment: short feedback loops, meaningful ownership, and problems that donʼt come with a playbook.

What Youʼll Do:

• Build and own core systems (web + backend + data) from scratch—designed to scale.
• Develop People-First AI capabilities: copilots, semantic search, automated workflows, and decision support—designed with guardrails, explainability, and human-in-the-loop controls.
• Drive architecture decisions: APIs, database design, eventing, caching, security basics, observability, and performance.
• Convert ambiguous business needs into clean product experiences with strong engineering discipline.
• Establish engineering standards: code quality, reviews, CI/CD, testing strategy, release readiness.
• Mentor engineers through example—this is a hands-on role, not a coordination role.
• Partner closely with founders/product/design; make trade-offs and ship outcomes, not just output.

What Weʼre Looking For:

• 2-4 years building production-grade software, ideally in product companies or high-growth startups.
• Strong expertise in Backend: Python/Java, APIs, scalability patterns Databases: PostgreSQL/MySQL + one NoSQL/search system (Elastic/OpenSearch/Vector DB is a plus)
• Proven experience building platforms/products from zero 1, then stabilizing for scale.
• Multi-tenant SaaS experience, RBAC, audit logs, and security-first design patterns.
• High ownership mindset; comfortable with ambiguity, tight timelines, and strong accountability.
• Strong communication—clear docs, crisp decisions, visible trade-offs.

Nice to Have:

• Practical AI experience (not just demos): LLM integrations, prompt/tooling patterns, evaluation, safety/guardrails RAG/semantic search, embeddings, vector stores, reranking, data pipelines
• Cloud familiarity: AWS/GCP/Azure, containers, basic infra-as-code, observability tooling.
• Experience shipping AI features with measurable quality (latency, accuracy, cost, adoption)

• Hands-on expertise in managing technical teams and work closely with business stakeholders
• Should be familiar with card testing and POS ecosystem.
• Experience with designing APIs and building platform integrations in Commerce, POS, FinTech and Payments
• Payment’s domain experience.
• Extensive experience on Base24 & SWITCH part for payment format.
• Exposure on ISO8583 Messaging system.
• API understanding and creation.
• Working knowledge on cryptographic algorithms (RSA, EC, AES, SHA variants), TLS/SSL protocols. C Symetric and A symetrics, K.M.S.
• Digital Payments technical knowledge - QR/ POS/ UPI/ BQR
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, containerization, Docker
• Must have strong technical skills in Android APK and iOS development Concept and Web services.
• Supportability, monitoring, ops in general.
• Accurate cost models to deploy and operate
• Extensive experience in TLOG’s, data integration with downstream applications, and impact of POS changes on different financial, legal, compliance, loss prevention, etc. applications.
• Extensive experience with payment systems 7861 (EMV, payment middleware, encryption, tokenization, settlement, offline scenarios,).
• Extensive experience with different types of payment methods including credit, debit, gift cards (Both closed loop and open loop), PLCC, PayPal, AliPay, checks, etc. as well as different payment form factors like Tap N Go, contactless, swipe, EMV, Mobile, etc.
• Extensive experience with payment devices (pin pads, printers, registers, scanners).
• Experience in Node.js / Java / Python, building REST APIs, with experience/exposure to front end stack like JavaScript & React / Angular. 
• Experience with Storage systems - RDBMS, NoSQL (Cassandra/MongoDB), Redis/Memcache/Aerospike.
• Experience in messaging tools like Kafka/AWS Kinesis etc...
• Design expertise for performance, scalability, fault tolerance and high availability

• Experience with POS systems and Payments domain.
• Demonstrated experience for systems architecture, design, and integration for POS systems
• Java and/or Node.js. Experience building micro services (REST APIs) using Node.js
• Experience with one or more RDBMS databases like MySql, PostGreSQL
• Experience with one or more NoSQL databses like MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB, Aerospike, Elastic Search, Redis, neo4j etc.,
• Caching technologies like: Redis, Elasticache,

Responsibilities

• Mentoring Team of Juniors, Code Reviews, and System Design Understanding
• Design and develop APIs using NodeJs, TypeScript, and deployment using the CICD pipeline.
• Apply code reviews and development quality reviews to make sure best practices are implemented
• Expertise with MySQL including the design of schemas and development for these databases
• Understanding of System Architectures, Design Patterns, and SOLID Principles
• Knowledge of git-based workflows such as git-flow, Proficient with code editors & linting tools

Requirements

• 2+ years of development experience with NodeJS, and Javascript frameworks related to the web stack
• Understanding the nature of asynchronous programming and its quirks and workarounds
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written

Good to have

• Experience with AWS Microservices
• Experience with payment gateways
• Exposure to AWS Services, policies, and the DevOps pipeline is a plus.
• Expertise with React, Redux, Hooks, and its core principles

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• B.Tech or higher in Computer Science from a premier institute. (We are willing to waive this requirement if you are an exceptional programmer).

• You are a strong coder, Love to explore multiple languages and tech stacks; We are language-agnostic, and we love people who like to explore multiple stacks. We’re looking for people who can write clean, effective code.

• Building scalable & performant web systems with clear focus on reusable modules.

• You are comfortable in a high paced environment and can respond to urgent (and at times ambiguous) requests

• Ability to translate fuzzy business problems into technical problems & come up with design, estimates, planning, execution & deliver the solution independently.

Follow Agile development model to incrementally build out the applications with regular reviews with Product

• Knowledge in AWS would be great to have.

• Ability to work with databases, data pipelines.

• Seven years of relevant software development experience
• 3 or more years using data interchange methods, including XML, JSON, RESTful, and SOAP
