Senior DevOps Back-End Developer

At Egnyte we build and maintain our flagship software: a secure content platform used by companies like Red Bull and Yamaha.

We store, analyze, organize, and secure billions of files and petabytes of data with millions of users. We observe more than 1M API requests per minute on average. To make that possible and to provide the best possible experience, we rely on great engineers. For us, people who own their work from start to finish are integral. We have 300+ engineers spread across the US, Poland, and India.

You will be part of our DevOps Team working closely with our DBA team in automating, monitoring, and scaling our massive MySQL cluster. Previous MySQL experience is a plus. 

Your day-to-day at Egnyte

• Designing, building, and maintaining cloud environments (using Terraform, Puppet or Kubernetes)
• Migrating services to cloud-based environments
• Collaborating with software developers and DBAs to create a reliable and scalable infrastructure for our product. 

• 2+ years of proven experience in a DevOps Engineer, System Administrator or Developer role, working on infrastructure or build processes
• Programming prowess (Python, Java, Ruby, Golang, or JavaScript)
• Experience with databases (MySQL or Postgress or RDS/Aurora or others)
• Experience with public cloud services (GCP/AWS/Azure)
• Good understanding of the Linux Operating System on the administration level
• Preferably you have experience with HA solutions: our tools of choice include Orchestrator, Proxysql, HAProxy, Corosync & Pacemaker, etc.
• Experience with metric-based monitoring solutions (Cloud: CloudWatch/Stackdriver, On-prem: InfluxDB/OpenTSDB/Prometheus)
• Drive to grow as a DevOps Engineer (we value open-mindedness and a can-do attitude)

• Bachelor of Computer Science or Equivalent Education
• At least 5 years of experience in a relevant technical position.
• Azure and/or AWS experience
• Strong in CI/CD concepts and technologies like GitOps (Argo CD)
• Hands-on experience with DevOps Tools (Jenkins, GitHub, SonarQube, Checkmarx)
• Experience with Helm Charts for package management
• Strong in Kubernetes, OpenShift, and Container Network Interface (CNI)
• Experience with programming and scripting languages (Spring Boot, NodeJS, Python)
• Strong container image management experience using Docker and distroless concepts
• Familiarity with Shared Libraries for code reuse and modularity
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)

• Experience of building a range of Services in a Cloud Service provider

• Expert understanding of DevOps principles and Infrastructure as a Code concepts and techniques

• Strong understanding of CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Ansible, GitHub)

• Managed an infrastructure that involved 50+ hosts/network 

• 3+ years of Kubernetes experience & 5+ years of experience in Native services such as Compute (virtual machines), Containers (AKS), Databases, DevOps, Identity, Storage & Security

• Experience in engineering solutions on cloud foundation platform using Infrastructure As Code methods (eg. Terraform)

• Security and Compliance, e.g. IAM and cloud compliance/auditing/monitoring tools

• Customer/stakeholder focus. Ability to build strong relationships with Application teams, cross functional IT and global/local IT teams

• Good leadership and teamwork skills - Works collaboratively in an agile environment

• Operational effectiveness - delivers solutions that align to approved design patterns and security standards

• Excellent skills in at least one of following: Python, Ruby, Java, JavaScript, Go, Node.JS

• Experienced in full automation and configuration management

Essential Skills :

• Demonstrable Cloud service provider experience - infrastructure build and configurations of a variety of services including compute, devops, databases, storage & security

• Demonstrable experience of Linux administration and scripting preferably Red Hat

• Experience of working with Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Delivery (CD) and continuous testing tools

• Experience working within an Agile environment

• Programming experience in one or more of the following languages: Python, Ruby, Java, JavaScript, Go, Node.JS

• Server administration (either Linux or Windows)

• Automation scripting (using scripting languages such as Terraform, Ansible etc.)

• Ability to quickly acquire new skills and tools

Required Skills :

• Linux & Windows Server Certification

• Design, develop, test, debug and maintain components of the cloud infrastructure
• Manage operational priorities of the DBaaS
• Establish a process for handling and leading response to security new vulnerabilities
• Lead certification efforts from the security perspective
• Participate in penetration testing efforts
• Design and build DBaaS processes for key management, rotation storage, encryption, and password management

Requirements:

• Strong software design and implementation skills in building infrastructure frameworks
• Experience building and operating extensible, scalable resilient data systems
• Working knowledge of Java and Python Experience using public cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Containerization tooling (Docker, EKS, Kubernetes)
• Infrastructure as Code Tooling (Example: Terraform, Cloudformation, Etc.)
• Configuration Management Tooling (Ansible, Chef, etc.)
• Automation Scripting (Python preferred)
• Solid understanding of basic systems operations (disk, network, etc)
• Willingness and ability to learn new languages and concepts
• 5+ years of relevant experience

• Process Template Customization and Deployment model
• Migration, Upgrade, Monitor, and Maintenance of ADS Instance
• Automation using REST API to build Extensions and Custom Reporting
• Expert in all Modules of Azure DevOps Server/Service (Work Item, SCM/VC, Build, Release, Test, Reporting Management)"

• CICD Orchestration tools and other SCM/VC tools

• Microsoft MCSD Application Lifecycle Management certified
• A bachelor or master degree with a minimum of 6 years relevant work experience in Azure DevOps Server/Services (SaaS)
• Good communication skills
• Strong knowledge of application lifecycle workflows and processes involved in the design, development, deployment, test, and maintenance of software systems in the Windows environment

Scope & Responsibilities

As a Department Leader, you will be responsible for managing and mentoring the team of

Linux systems administrators on a daily basis. You will help build and grow the sys admins

team and lead them to success. As Systems Management Department Leader, you will work

both as a People Manager and a Senior Systems Administrator.

As Manager you will recruit and retain a high motivated and professional team of

administrators. Together with our CTO and HR team, youre going to define recruitment

needs in your team and participate in the recruitment process. You will also work on

improving the onboarding process for new employees.

More tech part of the job contains designing and managing systems, tools, and infrastructure

to match our customers needs and provide them with outstanding, safe and reliable

solutions.

This position requires you to be able to devise proactive solutions to project-related issues

Skills & Certifications

- Proven team building and management background (2+ years)
