Senior Backend Engineer

Job Description:

We are looking for a highly skilled Software Developer with 3-5 years of hands-on experience in LAMP Stack development. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining web applications, ensuring high performance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to define and ship new features.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and optimize web applications using LAMP Stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP)

• Design efficient, scalable, and secure backend systems.

• Collaborate with frontend developers and project stakeholders to deliver high-quality products.

• Write well-structured and testable code, following best practices in PHP.

• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing applications.

• Develop APIs and integrate third-party services.

• Manage and maintain databases using MySQL.

• Perform system and server maintenance on Linux/Unix environments.

• Use Shell scripting to automate routine tasks and deployments.

• Work with the ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) for logging and monitoring.

Qualifications:

• BE/B.Tech in Computer Science/Information Technology/Electronics and Communications

• 3-5 years of proven experience as a Software Developer working with LAMP Stack

• Proficient in PHP, and MySQL.

• Solid experience with Linux/Unix environments, including command-line proficiency.

• Knowledge of Shell Scripting and basic system automation.

• Familiarity with ELK Stack for application monitoring and logging.

• Strong understanding of web protocols, API integration, and database optimization.

• Experience with version control systems like Git.

• Ability to work in an Agile environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with other Python frameworks besides Flask.

• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud) for deploying and scaling applications.

Our client is a rapid growth stage Edtech start-up focused on solving the teacher shortage crisis in the US education system using technology by bringing teachers to the classrooms and giving them access to the right tools to teach students in a highly engaging manner.

They have a development center in Mumbai and they are looking to scale up the teams in Pune and Bangalore as well.

What does the role entail:

● Lead User Stories and guide senior/software engineers in the development process

● Understand architecture principles, design patterns and implement them from architectural artifacts.

● Provide effort estimation of assigned work and be able to complete as per the estimations and timelines

● Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code including unit tests and integration tests to ensure software quality

● Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze requirements, design solutions, and implement new features

● Participate in design and code reviews

● Ability to resolve performance issues

● Mentor junior software engineers and help them grow their technical skills

Must Have Skills:

● B.E/B.Tech in computer science

● 8-11 years of experience

● Hands-on experience following skills

MS Technologies: NET CORE 5+, C#

Backend : MSSQL /MySQL/Postgres 

● Good understanding of Cloud technologies like Azure/AWS.

● Good understanding of Design Principles, Design patterns and Microservices Architecture.

● Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills

● Worked in an Agile software development environment

Must understand full stack development frameworks including knowledge of building scalable APIs, interfaces, software components, schema design, availability, and latency preferably in a cloud environment.

● Worked in a fast-paced environment preferably in a tech driven startup

● Understanding of different types of architectures.

• 5 +yrs of ITExperience
• A candidate with strong OOP skills as well as strong web front end skills(HTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery etc.)and a lot of MySQL/MsSQL exposure and ideally stored procedureGood Experience in Core PHP and any PHP Frameworks (Laravel/Symphony/Zend).
• Experience in AngularJs & AWS is plus

Job Description :

• 3 or more years of experience of server side web systems engineering and middleware in a project services or product engineering organisation
• Hands-on development experience using JavaScript on the Server Side with Node.js and associated frameworks
• Published sites/systems that are now online
• Self motivation and ability to manage your own time to get the job done at the high international quality levels we expect
• An engineering Degree in computer science or equivalent practical experience
• A solid understanding of networking, storage, operating/browser systems engineering as well as application/software systems performance optimisation and third party systems integration
• Hands on experience with Amazon Web Services
• Prior experience working within the Media, E-commerce, Telecommunications or similar large scale consumer facing industry
