Senior Android Developer

Position: Senior React Native Developer (4- 7 years)

Summary:

We're looking for a seasoned React Native developer who has shipped production-grade mobile apps on both iOS and Android — ideally in the high-traffic, high-stakes world of e-commerce. You'll own the mobile experience end-to-end: architecture, performance, and flawless UX across devices.

Note: We are looking for a senior expert who has delivered multiple apps that are built from scratch and hosted on Apple Store/ Play Store i.e. e2e lifecycle.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and build scalable React Native apps for both iOS and Android from scratch to App Store / Play Store deployment.
• Architect complex e-commerce flows — product catalogues, cart, checkout, payment gateway integration, and order tracking.
• Optimize app performance: reduce TTI, maintain smooth 60fps animations, and manage memory on low-end devices.
• Integrate REST and GraphQL APIs; manage state with Redux Toolkit, Zustand, or React Query.
• Implement push notifications, deep linking, in-app navigation, and offline-first strategies.
• Write clean, well-tested code; maintain CI/CD pipelines using Fastlane, GitHub Actions, or Bitrise.
• Collaborate with designers, backend engineers, and product managers in Agile sprints.
• Conduct code reviews and mentor junior mobile developers.

• You will be building and shipping robust apps to Android/ iOS devices using a single codebase.

We're looking for an experienced and mature engineer (2-6 yrs experience), who wants to build incredible products while shaping the architecture, tools, and engineering culture of our company

Responsibilities:

• Architect and build our native Android application using Java or Kotlin.
• Set up our backend using either the MEAN (Mongo, Node) or Django stack.
• Collaborate with the design team on feasibility and design reviews.
• Set up DevOps processes - CI/CD and release management.
• Hire an additional backend engineer to scale the application based on requirements.

Requirements:

• You possess strong computer science fundamentals.
• You have native Android application development skills - with Java/Kotlin as a framework.
• You have strong knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices.
• You have built backends for mobile applications - using the MEAN or Django stack.
• You have some mobile app projects that are worthy of public view (Play Store, Github).
• You like discussing a plan upfront, welcome open collaboration and are an excellent verbal and written communicator.
• We’re a fast-paced environment so while we value robustness, we also hope for speed. You’ll hop from project to project and should be a self-starter.
• You are open to learning new stuff (important).
• You are humble, kind, and are open to feedback (important)

• 2+ years of relevant experience in Android Development.
• Should be strong in Android fundamentals (including UI design), OOP & Java fundamentals.
• Should be strong in Kotlin fundamentals and coroutines.
• Familiar with Android Architectures, Multithreading Concepts, Testing framework like JUnit, Espresso, Mockito and Reactive Programming.
• Familiar with Dependency Injection and memory optimization techniques.
• Practitioner of SOLID principles.
• Working experience in Compose and KMM (Kotlin Multiplatform Mobile) is an addon
• Should have been part of a team which has shipped at-least one App and lived through the process without too many scars
• Stellar problem solving skills

 Who are we looking for? 

1. Someone who is annoyed by the build time it takes for an application to build and has actually done something to optimise it 

2. Has good experience in building Android applications 

3. Experience with the flutter ecosystem is a great plus. 

4. Who likes to think in terms of software and data architecture before opening Android studio. 

5. Comfortable with managing development and deployment of applications. 

6. Open and more importantly excited about learning the new technologies. 

Roles and responsibilities 

1. Participate and contribute in design and development of the core components of the Filo service. 

2. Ensure high quality of software development w.r.t to project architecture, code quality, testing and deployment. 

3. Implement testing frameworks and disciplines as part of every feature development. 

4. Own performance of app in production and implement/push for implementation of systems to monitor, debug and fix an issue in production in lowest TATpossible.
 Advocate good engineering has the highest priority with the only exception of value delivered to the end user.
