Who we are: My AI Client is building the foundational platform for the "agentic economy," moving beyond simple chatbots to create an ecosystem for autonomous AI agents and they aim to provide tools for developers to launch, manage, and monetize AI agents as "digital coworkers."

The Challenge

The current AI stack is fragmented, leading to issues with multimodal data, silent webhook failures, unpredictable token usage, and nascent agent-to-agent collaboration. My AI Client is building a unified, robust backend to resolve these issues for the developer community.

Your Mission

As a foundational member of the backend team, you will architect core systems, focusing on:

• Agent Nervous System: Designing agent-to-agent messaging, lifecycle management, and high-concurrency, low-latency communication.
• Multimodal Chaos Taming: Engineering systems to process and understand real-time images, audio, video, and text.
• Bulletproof Systems: Developing secure, observable webhook systems with robust billing, metering, and real-time payment pipelines.

What You'll Bring

• My AI Client seeks an experienced engineer comfortable with complex systems and ambiguity.

Core Experience:

● Typically 3 to 5 years of experience in backend engineering roles.

● Expertise in Python, especially with async frameworks like FastAPI.

● Strong command of Docker and cloud deployment (AWS, Cloud Run, or similar).

● Proven experience designing and building microservice or agent-based architectures.

Specialized Experience (Ideal):

• Real-Time Systems: Experience with real-time media transmission like WebRTC, WebSockets and ways to process them.
• Scalable Systems: Experience in building scalable, fault-tolerant systems with a strong understanding of observability, monitoring, and alerting best practices.
• Reliable Webhooks: Knowledge of scalable webhook infrastructure with retry logic, backoffs, and security.
• Data Processing: Experience with multimodal data (e.g., OCR, audio transcription, video chunking with FFmpeg/OpenCV).
• Payments & Metering: Familiarity with usage-based billing systems or token-based ledgers.

1-2 years of experience working with Ruby on rails as well as libraries like Resque and RSpec.

Good experience with Redis, Sidekiq, and Docker.

Ability to write clean ruby code.

Proficiency with code versioning tools including Git, Github, Gitlab, and SVN.

Experience with AngularJS or React JS is a plus.

Familiarity with MVC, Mocking, RESTful, and ORM.

Good understanding of front-end technologies including HTML5, JavaScript, Jquery, and CSS3.

Knowledge of server-side templating languages including Slim, Haml, and ERB.

Familiarity with tools like Jira, Postman, Slack, and Microsoft Teams.

Skills and Qualifications

• Deep understanding of OOPs and OOAD.
• Expert and hands-on in Java JEE and Spring framework, Spring Boot.
• Should have experience with RESTful web services and API standards.
• Should know various integration patterns in distributed environments.
• Working knowledge of microservice architecture and different design patterns.
• Hands-on in writing unit tests with Mockito and code coverage tools.
• Hands-on data modeling (Logical physical).
• Knowledge of RDBMS, SQL and any ORM framework (JPA, Hibernate etc.)
• Should know Event-driven and asynchronous programming using message broker.
• Should know about cloud IaaS, PaaS, SaaS and Serverless models of any cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP), preferably AWS.
• Knowledge of JavaScript frameworks like NodeJS (For the Backend) and Angular React (For Frontend) will be added advantage.
• Good to have DevOps related technologies like Container (Docker), Container Orchestrator (Kubernetes EKS)
• Excellent in communication

Ruby on Rails Developer Responsibilities:
• Designing and developing new web applications.
• Maintaining and troubleshooting existing web applications.
• Writing and maintaining reliable Ruby code.
• Integrating data storage solutions.
• Creating back-end components.
• Identifying and fixing bottlenecks and bugs.
• Integrating user-facing elements designed by the front-end team.

Ruby on Rails Developer Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• Experience working with Ruby on Rails as well as libraries like Resque and RSpec.
• Ability to write clean Ruby code.
• Proficiency with code versioning tools including Git, Github, SVN, and Mercurial.
• Experience with AngularJS or BackboneJS.
• Familiarity with MVC, Mocking, RESTful, and ORM.
• Good understanding of front-end technologies including HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS3.
• Knowledge of server-side templating languages including Slim and Liquid.

• Databases- MongoDb, Postgres. 

What will I be doing? 👩‍💻👨‍💻

Leading parts of the product from inception to launch, and own large parts of the product’s execution.
Working with our Sales and frontend team to build products with the goal of delighting and increasing the success of our users.
Architecting, building, testing, and releasing product-facing features.
Contributing to our side projects and free tools for the education industry.

What do I need? 🤓

1-2 years of industry experience in a software engineering role, preferably building a SaaS product. You can demonstrate significant impact that your work has had on the product and/or the team.
Deep knowledge of a high-level programming language (for example, PHP, Python, etc.) but it doesn’t need to be a language that we use here! Great people are effective and learn what we use quickly (or introduce us to better ways of working)
Deep knowledge of SQL Databases
Experience with scalable distributed systems, both built from scratch as well as on AWS primitives
Willingness to learn and use new technologies
Extremely data-driven
Ability to debug complex systems
