Python Distributed System Engineer

We’re looking for a Backend Developer (Python) with a strong foundation in backend technologies and

a deep interest in scalable, low-latency systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and optimize backend applications using Python.

• Build and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices.

• Work with relational and NoSQL databases for data storage, retrieval, and optimization.

• Write clean, efficient, and reusable code while following best practices.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (frontend, QA, DevOps) to deliver high quality features.

• Participate in code reviews to maintain high coding standards.

• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing applications.

• Ensure application security, performance, and scalability.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 2–4 years of hands-on experience in Python development.

• Strong command over Python frameworks such as Django, Flask, or FastAPI.

• Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.

• Experience working with databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB.

• Proficiency in writing and consuming REST APIs.

• Familiarity with Git and version control workflows.

• Experience with unit testing and frameworks like PyTest or Unittest.

• Knowledge of containerization (Docker) is a plus.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Python AWS Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in backend development using Python, cloud infrastructure on AWS, and building serverless or microservices-based architectures. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, deploy, and maintain scalable and secure applications in the cloud.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain backend applications using Python and frameworks like Django or Flask
• Design and implement serverless solutions using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and other AWS services
• Develop data processing pipelines using services such as AWS Glue, Step Functions, S3, DynamoDB, and RDS
• Write clean, efficient, and testable code following best practices
• Implement CI/CD pipelines using tools like CodePipeline, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins
• Monitor and optimize system performance and troubleshoot production issues
• Collaborate with DevOps and front-end teams to integrate APIs and cloud-native services
• Maintain and improve application security and compliance with industry standards

Required Skills:

• Strong programming skills in Python
• Solid understanding of AWS cloud services (Lambda, S3, EC2, DynamoDB, RDS, IAM, API Gateway, CloudWatch, etc.)
• Experience with infrastructure as code (e.g., CloudFormation, Terraform, or AWS CDK)
• Good understanding of RESTful API design and microservices architecture
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD, Git, and version control systems
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker, ECS, or EKS) is a plus
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with PySpark, Pandas, or data engineering tools
• Working knowledge of Django, Flask, or other Python frameworks
• AWS Certification (e.g., AWS Certified Developer – Associate) is a plus

Educational Qualification:

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

Requirements

• Senior SD4 engineer/Principal Engineer/ Architect who has led or been part of platform teams inside a large/mid tech company
• Deep expertise working with any of the programming languages to write maintainable, scalable, unit-tested code.Python experience is a bonus - but not required
• Good understanding of REST APIs and the web in general and ability to build a feature from scratch & drive it to completion
• Experience with Kubernetes, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, Load Balancing
• Experience in building a platform team on AWS for Product based companies/start-ups

What You’ll Do

• Build the core technology platform, including Automated provisioning of infrastructure, deployment, and monitoring of services
• Build a central services directory within an organization that shows the cost and health of all services and makes the management of microservices extremely easy
• This involves working with core infrastructure and understanding them in great detail - like Kubernetes, ServiceMesh, Service security
• Mentor/coach engineers to facilitate their development and provide technical leadership

Software Engineer - II (Backend)

As a Software Engineer – II, you'll bring a good understanding of design and coding practices and apply these independently in development. In this role - you could expect to:

• Own the lifecycle of a feature from requirement analysis to deployment and post production processes
• Perform code reviews and support your team implement best practices
• Explore trade off's on module designs
• Continuously improve performance metrics of modules owned. Performs RCAs and deploys long term fixes.
• Implement initiatives that improve engineering efficiency and excellence
• Participate in the hiring and interview process for junior developers on your team

Type: Individual contributor with good hands on proficiency. 

Must have

• Strong proficiency in at least one of  Java, Ruby, Python
• Exposure to databases: any of  PostgreSQL, MySQL, Apache Cassandra
• Any NoSQL database experience is a plus
• Exposure to AWS cloud infrastructure: EC2 or S3 
• Proficiency with Git
• MUST: Using REST to make API calls. 

Great to have: 

• Experience working with one or more middleware, enterprise bus, queueing frameworks
• Any of Memcached/Redis, Apache Kafka / RabbitMQ / PubSub+ / AmazonMQ

Soft skills:

• Appreciation for clean and well documented code

What will you do at Tradyl:

• Build a shipping service module that is called by our website to query shipping rates from India to a destination country. Configure this to so that an Ops person can update shipping costs as and when they change. Own deployment and monitoring of this service. 
• Use Zapier to build a workflow to export a MixPanel report into a Google sheet every day.
• Change our supplier portal (built on bubble.io) to make an API call to our customer facing site, whenever a supplier modifies his profile.
• Write an alert mechanism that identifies catalogues with insufficient information and makes them non discoverable, which can run every day.
• Work with Business Team to design a workflow for product inwarding using Airtable. Write a small app within Airtable so that whenever a product is updated as “shipped” in airtable, it updates the customer facing website.
• Use an open source dashboarding framework to create a quick dashboard to track important business events.
