About the role and responsibilities

The UI/UX designer’s role encompasses a couple of the following responsibilities.

To be able to communicate and tell stories with animations

To understand, conceptualise and create storyboards for micro-animations and animations before the final animation

Working alongside UI/UX designers to enhance the experience of digital products

Frequently identify opportunities where motion design would enhance the user experience in digital solutions

Create high quality, creative and innovative animations in 2D and/or 3D

To have a keen interest in learning new tools and expand their horizon of knowledge

About the requirement

The UI/UX designer should have the following abilities

Proven motion design experience and a diverse portfolio to showcase one’s work

Strong storytelling skills and a solid foundation in the fundamentals of visual and motion design

Display the ability to work in different styles

Proficient in softwares like After Effects(presets and plugins), Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma, etc.

A keen eye for design aesthetics and details

Able to articulate ideas, both written and spoken, to drive impact

Good communication skills

Ability to work methodically and meet work in a fast-paced environment

The ability to create illustrations will be a plus

Prior experience with product company or digital products will be a plus

Degree / Certification in Design, Fine Arts or related field is a plus

Our Team:

The Engineering team at Whatfix provides end-to-end engineering throughput that forms part of core platforms and services that drive Whatfix's business.

Our team is responsible for creating the Customer Platform and everything around it - be it Analytics, Infrastructure, or Core Algorithms. The team owns and is responsible for all pieces that we design, build and support end to end for Whatfix product/ business.

Our product is built around a core of JAVA with enterprise businesses using the Whatfix system. On a monthly basis, millions of interactive guides are processed. Building, testing, and deploying to any of our environments are as simple as pushing a commit to a git branch. We like to keep our technology up-to-date. All of the technology is built and maintained by this small development team, so from day 1, the software you write will be used by people from all over the world.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design and develop highly scalable, reliable, and fault-tolerant systems for one of the world’s fastest-growing startups
• Work with business to define requirements
• Perform technical design and hands-on coding for development and enhancement efforts
• Develop new user-facing features
• Building reusable code and libraries for future use
• Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
• Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability
• Assure that all user input is validated before submitting to back-end services
• Promote best practices in design and coding
• Conduct design and code reviews
• Understand the customer needs & implement
• Articulate complex problems communicating viable architecture and design approaches in a clear and concise manner
• Enhance the agile SDLC within the Development Team through new learning, continued growth, and applying industry best practices and processes
• Occasionally participate in customer demos & provide inputs wherever required
• Keep optimizing & automating mundane tasks

You'll be a core member of the team.

Individual growth is important to us. We schedule time every week to explore an interest or learn something new. Team members have also used it to do everything from learning new algorithms to playing with the new framework, to exploring what the new analytics layer could be used for. We also take some time each day to discuss what we're working on, and even pair programs to teach each other about parts of the codebase. There's no risk of stagnation in this job, you would still be hands-on after a few years.

REQUIREMENTS:

We are looking for a Front-End Engineer to help us scale and go deep on our technical capabilities.

• 4 -12 years of professional front-end development experience
• Hands-on experience with Front end technologies - JavaScript, Typescript, HTML, CSS
• Experience with React Ecosystem (React Router, Styled-components, Server-side rendering, Context API, React Hooks) is strongly preferred
• Experience with state management libraries such as Redux is a huge plus.
• Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around such issues
• Experience in backend programming languages such as Java is strongly preferred 
• Experience in building Web applications using frameworks like Spring, Microservice architecture
• Work experience, preferably from internet companies, products, or startups
• Expertise in design principles and their application
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

You have:

• Proficiency in Angular 4+, Typescript, JavaScript, JQuery, HTML/CSS
• Thorough understanding of OOJS & commonly used design principles and design patterns
• Working knowledge of State management using NgRxState management & custom npm packages
• Hands on ES6 features to reduce code and keep code clean
• Working knowledge of RxJS
• Working experience in writing automated unit tests using Jasmine, Mocha or any other similar framework.
• Experience of integrating RESTful Web APIs in Web Application.
• Written efficient and production ready code
• Working experience building high performance and scalable applications
• Ability to troubleshoot and debug application for functional and common problems
• At least 6 years of experience in software development 
• Knowledge of databases - NoSQL or RDBMS. 
• Experience working with version control like Git / Bitbucket
• Experience working in Agile Scrum Methodology
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

• Experience working on Web APIs
• Working knowledge of modern programming/scripting languages and runtime environments including node.js, Python/Ruby/Java, and experience in mid-tier web services development.
• Experience building proof of concepts, architecting new systems, and improving existing systems to solve business problems and support scaling
• Exposure to various tools that help in maintaining code quality like SonarQube
• Exposure with Atlassian JIRA application lifecycle management tool
• Exposure to Cloud Platforms like Azure or AWS or GCP

• Build responsive web-pages
• Experience in Javascript, jQuery, CSS, HTML5
• Expert in JavaScript who can build up a JavaScript framework from scratch.
• Possess good knowledge in front-end performance tuning.
• Understands how to use the page speed tool and tackle on issue based on its suggestions.
• Consume REST API's provided by the backend team
• Experience in some modern JavaScript framework like easyUI or reactJS would be a plus
