Strong Engineering Manager / Lead Profiles

Mandatory (Experience 1) - Must have 8+ years of overall Software Engineering/Development experience

Mandatory (Experience 2) - Must have 3+ years of experience as Engineering Manager / Team Lead role, with ownership of technical direction, delivery, and people management

Mandatory (Experience 3) - Must have hands-on Backend development experience using Python or Java, with frameworks such as FastAPI / Django / Spring / Express (Node.js)

Mandatory (Note) - This role will be 80% team management and 20% IC (hands on coding required)

If you're an experienced back-end developer with experience using serverless architecture (AWS Lambda, DynamoDB) and microservices, this could be the ideal job for you!

You'll be at a senior position, developing & maintaining microservices, business logic, and optimization/maintenance of the global database(s) to ensure a high performance & responsiveness to requests from the front-end.

Resposibilities:

Building stable, testable, and reusable code libraries for future use.

Write & maintain REST APIs for front-end consumption.

Managing deployments, code pushes (CI/CD pipelines).

Ongoing optimization of backend applications for maximum speed and scalability.

Implementation of security and data protection.

Design and implementation of data storage solutions.

Ideal Candidate:

At least 3-4+ years of server-side programming experience.

Solid experience working with NoSQL databases & microservices architecture.

Solid experience with version control (we use Github).

Decent experience with serverless architecture, code deployment and cloud platforms like AWS.

GOOD TO HAVE: Any experience working with fintech projects.

As a Backend Engineer, you will

• Create and maintain server-side code
• Designing database schemas to support business requirements
• Building reusable code and libraries for future use
• Troubleshoot and debug applications
• Write unit tests
• Stay up to date with current best practices
• Collaborate with front end engineers
• Optimization of the application for maximum speed and scalability
• Work with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data, and Design teams to assist with web-application-related technical issues and support their requirements.

• 2+ years of relevant work experience as a Backend engineer using Python frameworks like Django, Flask, etc

• Configure and monitor replica sets and Sharded Clusters
• Ability and experience in working with applications that work with MongoDB such as Java, Node.js and/or others
• Experience with MongoDB security, managing roles and permissions
• Experience with MongoDB backups and restores, manually and using MongoDB and other tools
• Knowledge and experience in working with MongoDB Ops Manager and/or Cloud manager
• Knowledge and/or experience working with MongoDB Atlas
• Knowledge of at least one DevOps tool such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible or similar
• Experience with ORM tools such as spring data is preferred.

About the role:

We’re looking for a hands-on Engineering Lead/Managing Architect for our API/Backend Development team. In this role, you’ll lead the effort to develop channels and APIs for our marketplace channels and scalable data pipelines, which process over 5 billion products a day.

In your first 6 months and beyond, you will:

• Learn the ins and outs of our platform, our codebase and our engineering processes
• Help build features for software that works with large data sets
• Play a key cross-functional role within our team of highly talented Javascript and PHP developers
• Develop solutions for high availability software
• Receive customer requests from the Product Team and develop solutions in the form of new features or products
• Debug and maintain APIs
• Work closely within the Platform team and with the API team to develop internal APIs and client-facing interfaces.

What you bring to the team:

• 2+ years of demonstrated Tech leadership experience.
• 7+ years of experience in PHP (good knowledge of Slim, Silex, or Symfony frameworks) and MySQL
• Some knowledge of integration architecture patterns such as scalable microservices, API gateways, API scalability
• Deep knowledge in APIs, web services, command-line programs, TDD, and SOLID design principles
• Good understanding of B2B SaaS products and experience dealing with big data
• Knowledge of developing and securing APIs
• Extended database experience in Elasticsearch, MongoDB or Couchbase
• Outstanding communication skills in English
• Educational background in IT or Computer Science is a plus
