Java/Scala + Data Engineer

Required Skills:

·       5+ years of software development experience.

·       Excellent skills in Java and/or Scala programming, with expertise in backend architectures, messaging technologies, and related frameworks.

·       Developing Data Pipelines (Batch/Streaming). Developing Complex data transformations, ETL Orchestration, Data Migration, Develop and Maintain Datawarehouse / Data Lakes.

·       Extensive experience in complex SQL queries, database development, and data engineering, including the development of procedures, packages, functions, and handling exceptions.

·       Knowledgeable in issue tracking tools (e.g., JIRA), code collaboration tools (e.g., Git/GitLab), and team collaboration tools (e.g., Confluence/Wiki).

·       Proficient in Linux/Unix, including shell scripting.

·       Ability to translate business and architectural features into quality, consistent software design.

·       Solid understanding of programming practices, emphasizing reusable, flexible, and reliable code.

Product Responsibilities:

As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of one or more products and solutions.

10+ years of relevant industry experience.

Be technically strong and deliver product excellence.

Collaborate with your team and cross-functional partners to define and influence strategy.

Drive roadmap creation and execution.

Collaborate with various functions, drive engineering initiatives, and have an impact at an organizational level.

Participate in technical design. You will be the owner of the technical direction of the products.

Define clear OKRs and measure the impact of your team and individual members.

Evangelize your products across various teams and also to external customers.

Work with the GTM team to deliver success for the products.

Collaborate with the Recruitment/HR team to hire exceptional talent for your own team and also for other teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor degree preferably in Computer Science from a reputed engineering college.

10+ years of proven experience, with 2+ years of leading a team.

Very strong in hands-on coding.

8+ years of combined experience in JVM languages(Java, Scala, Kotlin, etc), any scripting language like python, relational and non-relational databases.

Very strong in system design. You should have designed and implemented large-scale Web applications or data systems.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrated experience recruiting and managing technical teams, including performance management.

Good to have:

Familiarity with technologies such as Apache Spark, Apache Hadoop ecosystem, and modern warehouses like Snowflake, AWS Redshift, etc.

Experience working with public cloud systems such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

Experience with containerization and technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker.

 Knowledge of large-scale, data-heavy distributed systems.

Push team is one of the core teams at MoEngage, responsible for sending close to a billion notifications everyday to help clients engage their users better. As a member of the Push team, you will be working on developing high performance solutions to deliver personalised and context-based notifications across various channels to help achieve increased customer retention as well as customer LTV. You will also be working on designing and building features to help clients to provide customised experience for end users allowing them to have a more personalised experience at scale. Here you will have a chance to own systems and develop features end to end i.e right from inception to deployment. Though we work at scale, reliability is of utmost importance for us and we build in house solutions like Campaign Watcher & AutoBatchRunner to ensure 100% transparency and delivery of notifications

• Proven experience in handling large infrastructure and distributed systems
• Familiarity with Python related technologies and frameworks like Django or Pyramid.
• Familiarity with at least one of the cloud computing infrastructure - GCP / Azure / AWS
• Familiarity with task queue frameworks like Celery or Pika is a plus.
