Java Developer

About the Position

We are looking for a passionate and experienced software engineer to join our team at Mumbai. In this role, your primary responsibilities will be to take ownership of developing user facing applications and features in an agile manner. You will design and implement scalable and performant front-end solutions from scratch, while also taking a hard look at the existing ones.

What you will do at QI?

• Design, develop and deliver new user-facing apps and feature and improve existing ones
• Take ownership of product(s), and contribute to dev cycles and sprints planning
• Ensure technical feasibility of UI/UX design, share inputs with other teams including product, design and QA
• Optimize applications for performance, user experience and SEO
• Build reusable code and libraries. Contribute to open source projects.
• Stay up-to-date with new technologies with an eye of constantly adapting and improving our systems and methods.

Basic Job requirements

• 2 years + work experience in a similar role
• Strong experience in HTML5, CSS, DOM and front-end tooling ecosystem (Gulp,Grunt, Webpack)
• Excellent concepts and command over JavaScript
• Strong concepts and commercial experience in Vue.js
• Solid foundation in software development ( algorithm design, data structure, SDLC)
• Good concepts of unit testing and automation testing for UI components
• Good understanding of web app performance including Google Core Web Vitals metrics.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field with 2-5 years hands-on experience with Java based open source tech stack
• Expertise in Core Java, Data Structures, J2EE with proven expertise in Spring MVC, Spring boot, Microservices architecture, Web Services (Rest) in distributed systems
• Practical experience with MySQL and /or NoSQL databases like Couchbase, DynamoDB, Cassandra
• Practical experience with Caching frameworks Memcached/Redis, Message Queues (JMS, RabbitMQ)
• Practical hands-on experience in JavaScript UI preferred
• Experience in building high performance, high availability REST APIs and REST clients
• Expertise with log file analysis using one or more of ELK, or Splunk
• Prior experience with CI/CD, Container architecture - Docker/Jenkins and build scripts Maven/Ant
• Prior experience in transformation to cloud platforms is preferred
• Experience with Kafka is a definite plus
• Experience with building analytics pipeline and analytics DB is a plus
• Strong practical experience in applying design patterns, multithreading concepts to solve complex problems, strong problem solving skills

Requirements:

• Required experience of 3 to 8 years

Responsibilities:

Your Day-to-Day Tasks Include: 

Ship product, independently and/or as part of a small team 

Collaborate with other engineers to build new features 

Debugging using dev consoles, firebug, firecookie, or any of your favorite tools. 

Help troubleshoot production issues and resolve critical customer facing issues Provide top-notch support to our customers 

You Should Have: 

A strong body of prior front end work, including significant projects written in JavaScript. Mastery of JavaScript; expertise in most of the following technologies, and proficiency in all of them: jQuery, CSS, HTML5, AJAX. 

Deep understanding of closures, prototypal inheritance, DOM manipulation, HTTP, web security, cross browser compatibility challenges. 

Strong Experience with NodeJS and Express JS. 

Hands-on with a code management system like GIT, SVN. 

Experience with NoSQL databases, preferably CouchDB or CouchBase. 

Good to have: Experience with ReactJS and Typescript. 

Level 3 Contractor-to-Fulltime-Programmer Role:

Must have 1-2 years (ideally 12 to 30 months) of post-collegiate professional programming experience at a top SaaS company in React, Typescript, Javascript working within Visual Studio Code and Yarn, leveraging superior techniques with Routing, Components, State, and Props to deliver elegant consumer applications based on dynamic data.

Ability to translate user story completely into exceptional functionality that consistently meets acceptance criteria and delights users.  Ability to convert complex workflows into elegant experiences highly prized.

Experience with Firebase, Firestore, MongoDB, Heroku and other Cloud-based technologies to deliver scalable, performant data-driven applications, with deployments on Kubernetes.  Ideally experienced working with colleagues over Discord.

Ability to exhibit judgment to independently author test suite and testing scripts to evaluate code additions, ensuring no regressions in functionality or user experience.

Proficiency in translating complex mathematical concepts into effective data structures and programming practices.  Personal pleasure in solving mathematical puzzles elegantly is a huge plus.

Bonus for those possessing keen interest in better investing, wealth creation, and FinTech/WealthTech experience.

Anticipated first year will be entirely working from home given COVID as Level 3 Contractor, and upon completion of first anniversary will be eligible for sign-on bonus as full time employee. Required to have own effective laptop/development set up and sufficient bandwidth to be exceedingly productive.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

• Lead one of the product verticals in the development of technology strategy, planning, hiring and execution of the next iteration of the WeInvest platform.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Masters /BE/ B.Tech from a reputed institute

• About 6-10 years professional experience in software development.

• Excellent logical and analytical reasoning capabilities combined with strong knowledge of core

computer science concepts like algorithms, data structures, software design patterns, OOP etc.

• Should have experience in all the phases of SDLC

• Must have experience in leading a team. (At least 2-3 people)

• Be an expert in ruby on rails with experience OR from Fintech, Wealth Management OR Investment

• Management Domain with experience in any of the programming languages (Java/Python/Ruby).

• Breadth of experience in multiple technologies, tools, frameworks and processes is a big plus.

• Excellent understanding of core computer science concepts like algorithms, data structure,

Software design patterns, OOP etc. Be able to lead the team in design & architecture discussions,

introduce new tools, concepts & process to the team and guide other members of the team.

• Experience working in an agile team with software engineering practices like automated testing,

test- driven-development, continuous integration etc is a big plus.

• Excellent oral and written communication.

The Java/Backend Developer is responsible for the development and maintenance of Bytemark’s backend APIs. This person utilizes their knowledge of Java development & web technologies as an integral part of the software development team.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, maintain, and deliver highly scalable and reliable APIs
• Collaborate with development team and product owners to analyze, design, and implement user stories using an agile methodology.
• Write high-quality software code that complies with design specifications and meets development and support requirements.
• Develop unit tests and test changes using an agile methodology.
• Use a variety of tools to perform unit testing, automated builds, and source control.
• Participate as a member in Agile teams, and work with other team member to review user stories, estimate effort for user stories, and participate in sprint reviews.
• Maintaining current web and back-end features
• Learning new skills and technologies as company products and industry standards warrant

Required Skills:

• 2-6 years of experience building RESTful APIs
• 2+ year of hands-on Java experience using Play 1.x framework
• Knowledge of Spring or Grails frameworks is a plus
• Ability to write SQL.
• Understanding of OOP
• Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD) using JUnit, Selenium or a similar technology
• Basic knowledge of Unix
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• 3-8 years of software development experience
• Undergraduate degree in the field of computer science or equivalent
• Able to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
