Backend Developer (Django)

About the Role:

We are looking for a highly motivated Backend Developer with hands-on experience in the Django framework to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate should be passionate about backend development and eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment. You’ll be involved in developing web applications, APIs, and automation workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain Python-based web applications using Django and Django Rest Framework.
• Build and integrate RESTful APIs.
• Work collaboratively with frontend developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
• Contribute to improving development workflows through automation.
• Assist in deploying applications using cloud platforms like Heroku or AWS.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.

Requirements:

Backend:

• Strong understanding of Django and Django Rest Framework (DRF).
• Experience with task queues like Celery.

Frontend (Basic Understanding):

• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript, and jQuery.

Hosting & Deployment:

• Familiarity with at least one hosting service such as Heroku, AWS, or similar platforms.

Linux/Server Knowledge:

• Basic to intermediate understanding of Linux commands and server environments.
• Ability to work with terminal, virtual environments, SSH, and basic server configurations.

Python Knowledge:

• Good grasp of OOP concepts.
• Familiarity with Pandas for data manipulation is a plus.

Soft & Team Skills:

• Strong collaboration and team management abilities.
• Ability to work in a team-driven environment and coordinate tasks smoothly.
• Problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.
• Good communication skills and eagerness to learn

Immediate to 30-day joiner and Mumbai-based candidate preferred.

Technical Proficiency : 
Must have : 

• Strong development experience in Python in the environment of Unix/Linux/Ubuntu

• Strong practical knowledge of Python and its libraries.

• Current working experience with cloud deployment of AWS/Azure/GCP, Microservice architecture, and Docker in Python.

• Good knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps practices

• Good Experience of Python with Django/ Scrapy/ Flask frameworks.

• Good Experience in Jupyter/ Docker/ Elastic Search, etc.

• Solid understanding of software development principles and best practices.

• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

• Proven ability to drive large-scale projects with a deep understanding of Agile SDLC, high collaboration, and leadership.
  
  Good to have : 

• Expected to have migration experience from one version to the other, as this project is about migration to the latest version.

• Preferred if had an OpenEdx platform experience or any LMS platform.

 Profile Brief:  

You will be an experienced Backend Engineer with an interest in data and analytics, developing our fast growing Analytics Team. Working closely as an active team member, having ownership & accountability to develop analytics stories, in delivering timely projects through Scrum. Working with product owners and team leads to clarifying requirements, challenge assumptions in order to ensure successful executions and push the client analytics to its best.  

Key Skills and Experience  

Required Skills: JavaScript (ES6+), SQL, Nodejs, AWS (Lambda, Athena, S3) 

Good to have: TypeScript, IoT, AWS Certifications 

Experience: 4-6 years  

• Data processing and manipulation expert 
• Able to easily comprehend and write complex & efficient SQL queries  

• Ability to understand, design and fully document end-to-end scalable IoT systems 
• Expert in in building Well-Architected solutions using AWS Services (eg Lambda, Athena, S3 etc) 
• Master in JavaScript with excellent understanding of asynchronous patterns  
• Comfortable with of ES6+, TypeScript & emerging web technologies  
• Experience of building secure, metered REST APIs and connectors for BI tools like Tableau and PowerBI
