About the Role

We are looking for an AI Engineer who has experience building and shipping real-world AI products—not prototypes or notebook experiments.

You will own AI systems end-to-end, from LLM integration and prompt engineering to structured outputs, retrieval, async processing, evaluation, and observability.

The ideal candidate is a strong TypeScript backend engineer who has hands-on experience working with LLM providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar platforms and understands what it takes to make AI systems reliable in production.

You should think like a product engineer: take ownership, ship quickly, monitor what breaks, debug non-deterministic behavior, and continuously improve system quality.

What You'll Do

• Design and build production-grade LLM-powered features and pipelines using TypeScript.
• Integrate and work with LLM providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar APIs.
• Design, test, and optimize prompts and structured LLM outputs.
• Implement robust schema validation and enforcement for AI-generated responses.
• Build and optimize retrieval and vector search pipelines.
• Work with PostgreSQL and optimize database/vector search performance.
• Design async AI workflows and background jobs for reliable LLM processing.
• Implement fallback strategies and routing across different LLM models/providers.
• Build evaluation frameworks to measure and improve AI quality at scale.
• Set up and maintain AI observability, including monitoring, tracing, logs, and failure analysis.
• Debug non-deterministic LLM behavior in production and identify root causes.
• Work closely with product and engineering teams to turn AI capabilities into reliable user-facing features.
• Take end-to-end ownership of the systems you build—from architecture and implementation to deployment, monitoring, and iteration.

Must Have

• 2–4 years of software engineering experience, with meaningful production ownership.
• Strong TypeScript / Node.js backend development experience.
• Hands-on experience integrating LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or similar.
• Strong understanding of prompt engineering and production LLM workflows.
• Experience with structured outputs, JSON schemas, validation, and schema enforcement.
• Strong working knowledge of PostgreSQL.
• Experience with vector databases or PostgreSQL-based vector search.
• Experience building async/background processing systems.
• Understanding of LLM evaluation and production observability.
• Ability to debug and improve AI systems where outputs are probabilistic and non-deterministic.
• Strong product engineering mindset with a focus on shipping, reliability, and quality.

Good to Have

• Experience with Langfuse or similar LLM observability/evaluation platforms.
• Experience with Inngest or similar async job/workflow platforms.
• Experience implementing LLM fallback routing and multi-model strategies.
• Experience building AI products in SaaS, Recruiting Tech, HR Tech, or AI/ML platforms.
• Experience optimizing retrieval pipelines and vector search.
• Experience working in an early-stage startup environment.

Key Requirements / Skills

• 6+ years of overall experience in software development with strong expertise in building scalable web applications.
• 2+ years of experience as a Technical Lead, managing development teams and driving project delivery.
• Strong technical decision-making ability, including architecture design, technology selection, and implementation of best practices.
• Front-end expertise: Strong experience in React, JavaScript, TypeScript, and building responsive and user-friendly UI/UX.
• Back-end development: Hands-on experience with Node.js, RESTful APIs, API design, and server-side architecture.
• Gen AI Expertise: Experience in building RAG & LLM Systems, implementing AI/ML models or integrating AI-based solutions to solve business problems.
• Cloud & DevOps exposure: Experience with AWS/Azure, understanding of CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-based deployments.
• Code quality & best practices: Experience in code reviews, Git version control, and ensuring maintainable and secure code.
• Team leadership: Ability to mentor developers, guide technical discussions, and collaborate across teams.
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience working in high-compliance environments such as healthcare systems is a plus.

Education Qualifications:

• B.Tech/M.Tech in CSE/IT/AI/ML from a good university

Design and develop scalable web applications using MEAN/MERN stack.

Build & optimize AI/LLM workflows using LangChain or LangGraph.

Implement vector storage & semantic search using FAISS / Pinecone / Chroma / Milvus.

Build APIs, microservices, and integration layers.

Optimize application performance and ensure code quality.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, design, backend, DevOps).

Must-Have Skills

• Strong experience in Node.js, Express.js, MongoDB, and Angular/React.
• Hands-on experience in LLM apps, RAG pipelines, Vector Databases.
• Practical knowledge of LangChain / LangGraph.
• Experience with REST APIs, authentication, and integrations.
• Solid understanding of Git, CI/CD, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).

Desired Profile

 Feasibility assessments – Outline Risks , Design , Effort / Cost Estimate.

 Analyse, design, document, and agree - Solutions to meet requirements / timelines.

 Produce refined estimates of effort, time, resource, and costs for work requests.

 Work effectively with Product Managers and Product Owners to ensure delivery against agreed priorities.

Skills:

Significant “hands on” software development/support experience gained in a commercial environment with React & Node.

Demonstrable knowledge of Postgres database technology.

Proven experience of using automated test tools/frameworks (e.g. Spock, Selenium, JEB) and Continuous Integration tools (e.g. Hudson, Jenkins).

Experience in a range of software development methodologies (e.g. Agile/SCRUM, Waterfall, DevOps) and secure coding standards (e.g. OWASP).

Knowledge of payment processing regulations (PCI-DSS) and security standards (ISO 27001).

Knowledge of other software development tools (e.g. Stash, Jira, Git).

 Degree in a relevant IT discipline, or equivalent experience gained in a relevant industry
