Front End Developer

We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join our team in a long-term contractor capacity to continue development of a production-grade platform hosted on AWS.

This application supports policy processing, third-party integrations, compliance workflows, reporting, and intelligent automation capabilities. The ideal candidate is a strong software engineer first, capable of contributing across the full stack while helping scale and evolve the platform.

This role requires someone who can step into an existing system, understand complex workflows quickly, and independently deliver high-quality solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain full-stack application features across frontend and backend systems

• Build and support integrations with third-party systems and APIs

• Develop workflow-driven processes using Temporal

• Build scalable APIs and backend services using Python

• Maintain and optimize relational databases using PostgreSQL

• Develop reporting and analytics capabilities using charting libraries

• Contribute to AI-enabled features and integrations within the platform

• Improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes

• Participate in architecture discussions and help shape long-term technical direction

• Work closely with business and technical stakeholders to deliver production-ready solutions

Required Qualifications

Engineering

• at least 7+ years of full stack software engineering experience

• Strong proficiency in Python

• Strong frontend development experience with modern web frameworks

• Strong backend API development experience

• Experience designing and building scalable applications

• Strong understanding of software architecture and best practices

• Experience working in complex, integrated systems

Workflow and Orchestration

• Proven experience with Temporal

• Experience building and managing workflow orchestration patterns

• Familiarity with asynchronous processing and event-driven systems

Database and Reporting

• Strong experience with PostgreSQL

• Strong SQL and data modeling experience

• Experience building reporting dashboards and analytics features

• Experience with charting libraries such as Chart.js, D3.js, or Plotly

DevOps

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines

• Familiarity with containerized deployments

• Experience with cloud environments and modern development workflows

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in insurance, surplus lines, or compliance-based applications

• Experience integrating with third-party vendors and external APIs

• Experience with AI tooling, LLM integrations, and context engineering

• Experience building intelligent automation features

Founding Engineer:

As a Founding Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing, building, and launching our product to customers. Specifically,

• Since our team is lean and we plan to keep it that way - you’ll be one of the first five engineers in leading the zero-to-one journey of a product our customers are hungry for
• Lead technical design and implementation of the frontend and backend of the product with coaching and mentorship from world-class technical architects
• Have knowledge of (or learn) how to work with Shopify’s CLI
• Iterate quickly to create delightful user experiences, working closely with customers/ design partners
• Help us hire a world-class engineering team in the months ahead
• Our team is currently fully remote (with offices to be opened in Bangalore and Mumbai over next few months) and cross-border across San Francisco, Boston, and India - help us cultivate a remote-first, inclusive, diverse, and friendly culture

Skills and Experience:

• Prior experience working with backend tech stacks (e.g. Spring Boot, Ruby on Rails, Django, Laravel)
• Experience with service service-oriented architecture, writing REST APIs, unit testing, and architectural design
• Understanding of modern web stacks and architecture (HTTP, REST, GraphQL, WebSockets)
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases and other technologies (e.g. Mysql, Redis, Kafka)
• Prior experience working with frontend tech stacks (e.g. React, Angular, Vue.js)
• Prior experience working with frontend UI frameworks (e.g. Bootstrap, Tailwind CSS)

• Drive the architecture and design of large-scale, multi-tiered, distributed software applications, tools, systems and services using object-oriented design, distributed programming, Java/Node/ Python, .Net.
• Hands on experience in delivering high quality software products.
• Gather business and functional requirements from external and/or internal customers and end-users, and translate requirements into technical specifications to build robust, scalable, supportable solutions that work well between a ranges of complex systems.
• Serve as technical lead throughout the full development lifecycle, end-to-end, from scoping, planning, conception, design, implementation and testing, to documentation, delivery and maintenance.
• Provide design reviews for other engineers, including feedback on architecture and design issues, as well as integration, performance and scalability.
• Manage resources on multiple technical projects and ensure schedules, milestones, and priorities are compatible with technology and business goals.
