Senior BackEnd Engineer

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building scalable applications, a deep understanding of back-end technologies, and experience with cloud infrastructure. As a Back End Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining a scalable workflow management system. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to build robust and efficient applications that meet the needs of our users. Your expertise in Scala, Python, AI Agents/APIs, and GCP will be crucial in ensuring our system is reliable, performant, and scalable.

Key Responsibilities:

Back-End Development:

• Build and maintain back-end services and APIs using Scala.
• Implement and optimize Orchestration workflow system involving database queries and operations.
• Build API integrations with Third Party APIs and services.
• Ensure robust and scalable server-side logic.

Cloud Integration:

• Deploy, manage, and monitor applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Utilize GCP services to enhance application performance and scalability.
• Implement cloud-based solutions for data storage, processing, and analytics.

Collaboration And Communication:

• Work closely with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to sharing team knowledge.
• Document development processes, coding standards, and project requirements.

Qualifications:

• Educational Background:
• Completed a masters/bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in Scala programming language.
• Strong experience with React and ReactJS.
• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and its services.
• Knowledge of front-end development tools and best practices.
• Understanding of RESTful API design and implementation.
• Soft Skills:
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
• Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and challenges.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with version control systems such as Git.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Understanding of workflow management systems and their requirements.
• Experience with containerization technologies like Docker.

The tech stack looks like the below (expect this to change as we scale):

1. Typescript for APIs (REST and GraphQL)
2. Kafka, Spark, and data warehouses for ML pipelines (spark on python/scala)
3. Solidity + hardhat for smart contracts (in the future, rust, go and move)
4. AWS & Terraform
5. Full nodes

You can expect to do some or all of the following:

1. Read through protocols’ whitepapers and smart contracts to derive metrics and analyze risks
2. Architect the backend for APIs, async jobs, and blockchain integration
3. Build clean, concise APIs for customer integration, along with the documentation
4. Setup, run and maintain full and archive nodes across different chains
5. Integrate with multiple partners like exchanges and custody providers
6. Fool-proof security across the stack - encryption, hashing, privacy, VPC, etc.
7. Infrastructure as code - build terraform scripts and ensure easy replication of the infra across different regions
8. Research the top DeFi protocols to uncover better insights for our customers and evaluate their risk profiles, security, and historical returns
9. Manage production deployments, logging, and monitoring

We expect you to be fairly comfortable with working with both web3 and web2 stacks. We do not expect that you have web3 experience on day 1, but you should be willing to wear multiple hats, learn things quickly and move fast.

3. Understand the fundamentals of building and integrating APIs and secure systems. Bonus if you know a bit about blockchains and protocols
4. You can be strong on the backend, front-end, or can dabble everywhere. We want you to play to your strengths and will provide enough opportunities to learn and do things outside of your comfort zone

Primary Skills:

.Net/.Net Core, C#, OOPS and SQL Server as a key technology, which covers frontend and backend work. Knowledge of DevOps (building and deployment) and the Cloud is nice to have.

Eligibility

3+ years of experience in building web applications. Passion for building and delivering great software with a strong sense of ownership

Advanced proficiency in C#, very clear OOPS concepts, In-depth knowledge of the .NET framework, ASP.NET, MVC, Web API, REST APIs, OAuth 2.0/ Authentication/ Authorization

Strong expertise in SQL programming, with experience of writing & optimizing queries that access/process millions of records

Good to have any scripting(powershell) knowledge, JS based UI Frameworks

Outstanding analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Experienced in complex logic designing and implementation

Should have worked in Agile development environment and best practices

Good to have experience in secure development practices

Required skills:-

• 2+ years of experience in the Development of JAVA technology.

• Hands-on experience on Relational Databases (SQL query or Hibernate) + Mongo (JSON parsing)

• 2+ years of experience in using Java/J2EE tech stacks

• Understanding of AI/ML algorithms is a plus.

Primary Duties

• Build a broad knowledge across various systems and processes via knowledge transfer and capture any missing information on the wiki

• Gather software requirements by talking to various stakeholders and document them

• Implement software solutions after discussing the requirements and taking direction from the Technical lead and talking to other colleagues within and outside the team

• Provide necessary effort and time estimates for tasks to aid scheduling and prioritization

• Provide necessary 3rd line support to the Operations teams including software fixes as needed

• Work on any BAU development activity including on-boarding new data sets and delivering new markets into the system

• Work with external vendors from time to time to gather necessary requirements for new data or changes to existing data specifications

• Maintain pro-active communication with relevant stakeholders and keep them updated on progress

Experience, Knowledge & Skills

Essential

• 4+ years’ experience of programming in Java.
• 4+ years’ experience working with SQL including complex queries, stored procedures, views, database design and solid understanding of database concepts (preferably SQL Server)
• Experience of both Linux and Windows environments, scripting and tools
• Willing to carry out operational data tasks alongside developing new solutions
• Well organised with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple streams of work
• Excellent communication skills

Beneficial

• Experience working with Cloud environments (preferably AWS)
• Experience in handling financial data sets and familiarity with financial instruments (equities, futures, FX)
• Experience working with data pipelines and building ETL solutions

Educational & Professional Qualifications

• Educated to degree (or equivalent) level or higher.
• A degree with mathematical and computing content (e.g. Computer Science, Maths, Physics)
