Backend Architect

Role & Responsibilities

Take end-to-end ownership of critical backend services — from architecture and development to deployment and scale.

Design systems for performance, reliability, and observability. Identify bottlenecks and eliminate them proactively.

Collaborate with product and design to deeply understand user pain points and build the right solutions.

Work independently and own complex modules with minimal oversight.

Champion clean, maintainable code and help set a high bar for engineering excellence across the team.

Stay up-to-date with new tools, technologies, and backend trends — and bring the best ideas into our stack.

Ideal Candidate

2+ years of backend development experience, ideally with Kotlin and Spring Boot (or willingness to ramp up quickly).

You’ve worked in fast-moving teams and thrive when given room to figure things out.

You take initiative and can drive complex modules to completion without needing constant guidance.

Strong with both low-level and high-level design; you know how to build scalable, reliable RESTful APIs.

Proficient with relational databases and aware of common performance pitfalls.

Confident with debugging and optimizing — memory leaks, latency issues, and other hard-to-find problems don’t scare you.

You write clean, testable code and know how to leave systems better than you found them.

You bring a product mindset — caring not just about what’s built, but why and how it delivers value to users.

• Work closely with software engineers, product managers, and sales teams to bring innovative solutions to market.
• Communicate and negotiate across teams to get buy-in and alignment towards a shared vision.
• Apply technical judgement and identify return-on-investment opportunities.
• Learn new technologies and apply them appropriately for bringing value to customers.

• Strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, programming languages, distributed systems, and information retrieval.
• Experience in architecting and developing distributed systems design.
• Experience in technical leadership, leading project teams, and setting technical direction.
• Proven record of test driven development.
• Experience with Java, Spring Framework or similar technologies.

• Experience in driving technical projects and providing leadership in an innovative and fast-paced environment
• Experience in working with other engineering teams internally and externally, and across geographies.
• Experience building web applications for 5+ years.

Following are the things that we are looking for in our NodeJS developer:

• Full SDLC knowledge, preferably in an agile environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong critical thinking & problem solving skills.
• Understanding of Unix / Linux based systems.
• Hands-on exposure to deeply linked relational databases – preferably in MySQL
• Ability to take a feature or product through the full Software Development Life Cycle.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to both collaborate well and also the ability to convey technical ideas and concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Identify the interaction needs and how the API. must be developed based on design comps, product specs, etc.
• Continuously evaluate and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency.
• Address and prioritize production level bugs and application performance improvements.
• An adaptable attitude and understanding of the agile methodology.
• Unit-test code for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and release new features.

• Design and develop cloud native enterprise applications 
• Define and establish conventions, standards and best practices for the SDLC process and ensure that quality control is of paramount importance at each step of the development life cycle
• Develop reusable frameworks and libraries that can drastically accelerate new application development in the future
• Participate in the requirement analysis and gathering process and also perform sit-withs with business teams to ensure there is full clarity of the problem statement
• Actively engage wih infrastructure team and take ownership of DevOps processes to ensure that build and deployment processes are efficient and optimal.
• Actively engage with project stakeholders to ensure all are in sync with the progress, risks and issues
• Quickly learn and adopt cutting edge technologies to help keep the org ahead of the curve
