Lead Mobile Engineer - Android & iOS, AI-Native Healthcare Apps

Role Overview

Lead design, development, and delivery of mobile apps across Android and iOS. Own architecture, quality, and mobile engineering practice. Integrate Voice AI, conversational AI, and real-time features into patient-facing healthcare applications.

Key Responsibilities

Mobile Architecture & Delivery

•    Lead architecture and development of native or cross-platform mobile apps (Android & iOS)

•    Set technical direction, coding standards, and best practices for mobile

•    Deliver performant, polished, accessible mobile experiences at scale

•    Own app release process: app store submissions, versioning, mobile CI/CD

AI & Real-Time Integration

•    Integrate Voice AI, conversational AI, and LLM-powered features into mobile

•    Build real-time patient engagement experiences (streaming, push, WebSockets)

•    Collaborate with backend, product, and design on cohesive AI experiences

Quality & SDLC

•    Monitor app performance, crashes, and user feedback; drive continuous improvement

•    Champion mobile SDLC practices: testing, CI/CD, code review, release management

•    Leverage AI coding tools (Cursor, Copilot, Claude Code) to increase velocity

Leadership & Mentorship

•    Mentor and guide mobile engineers; conduct technical reviews

•    Own mobile engineering standards and drive architectural decisions

Requirements

•    5–7 years mobile development (Android & iOS)

•    Strong native expertise: Kotlin/Java (Android) and/or Swift (iOS)

•    OR cross-platform expertise: React Native or Flutter

•    Proven mobile architecture and technical decision leadership

•    Deep mobile performance, offline support, and security knowledge

•    Full app release lifecycle and store guidelines experience

•    Track record mentoring engineers and leading delivery

•    API integration and mobile-backend communication expertise

•    Strong ownership mindset and AI-first working style

Nice-to-Have

•    AI/LLM or conversational AI features in mobile apps

•    Video stack experience: streaming, recording, real-time communication (WebRTC)

•    Real-time/streaming and push notification systems at scale

•    Mobile open-source contributions or published apps at scale

• 6+ years of experience in Software Development and writing Unit tests for Mobile Apps
• Excellent designing, debugging and programming skills in an Object oriented programming language like C#, Java, javascript, Swift, Dart etc.
• Experience with Native Mobile development (Android or IOS) and Cross-Platform mobile development (preferably Flutter)
• Solid understanding of SOLID principles
• Strong knowledge of writing code for testability, modularity and extensibility
• Knowledge of test methodologies and corresponding unit test framework tools like JUnit etc.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  
  

• Experience working with BloC Pattern and Dependency Injection
• Knowledge of Eventing based programming patterns. 
• Exposure to integrating Performance, Analytics, Attribution tools
• Experience of using Flavors in application development
• Knowledge of Multi-module development in Flutter (ex- via Melos)

• Work with the product team and drive design, development and delivery of new features.
• Investigate and fix issues referred to by the support team. Write code to automate tests to automate regressions.
• Work on improving stability, debuggability, testability of existing functionalities/modules/components
• Integrate REST and GraphQL APIs and consume in app.
• Serve as a technical lead for the team
• Mentor team members

• Building and Designing advanced Android applications for the Android platform.
• Cross-functional team collaboration to design, define and ship new features.
• To use and work with outside APIs and data sources.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience specifically on MVVM architecture creating B2C applications.
• Should have developed at least 1 app from scratch.
• Good knowledge in Java
• Excellent debugging skills
• Good understanding of Kotlin, jetpack components, Android Studio, Android NDK, etc
• Experience and understanding of large and complex code bases and architectures
• Experience in API design, SDK architecture, and mobile software lifecycle development practices
• Strong UX/UI design exposure and experience in making apps work intuitively and with pixel perfect interfaces

The Must-Haves

• Should have developed at least 1 app from scratch.
• Good knowledge in Java
• Excellent debugging skills
• Good understanding of Kotlin, jetpack components, Android Studio, Android NDK, etc
• Experience and understanding of large and complex code bases and architectures
• Experience in API design, SDK architecture, and mobile software lifecycle development practices
• Strong UX/UI design exposure and experience in making apps work intuitively and with pixel perfect interfaces
• Strong CS fundamentals  (with competencies in algorithms and data structures)

Required Skill Set: Android SDK, Java, Kotlin, and Agile environment.

Job Description:

3) Experience using RESTful APIs to integrate mobile applications to server-side systems

4) Experience with the infotainment system.

5) Good understanding of software development best practices.

6) Worked on embedded devices and changing the framework of android apps.

7) Experience working in an agile environment.

8) Working knowledge of SCM with a strong emphasis on Git and proper Git Flow.

9) Must reference at least one application you developed that is available today

10) Decent communication skills.

• Strong knowledge of Android SDK. 

• Experience with Android Studio and Gradle Build System. 

• Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services.

• Strong knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices. 

• Experience with offline storage, threading, and performance tuning.

• Knowledge of the open-source Android ecosystem and the libraries available for common tasks.

• Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications.

• Experience working in Git, Jira and other productivity tools. 

• Familiarity with Kotlin is helpful.
