As Senior/Lead Software Engineer, you will play a significant role in turning our product vision into reality, while working within the Product Engineering team to add value across our product. You’ll draw on your experience to help us establish contemporary, web application software that is highly scalable, durable, and based on current best practices.

Our product is written mainly in Java (Spring, Hibernate) and ReactJS with our Design System, Electric. Our architecture is a combination of microservices, decoupled AWS service architectures, and a well-maintained monolith. The product is deployed on AWS across multiple regions. We use tools like Docker and Buildkite and deploy our systems and monitor our technology using CloudWatch, New Relic and SquadCast. We’re looking for someone to help us evolve how our systems operate together while we grow our team and capability.

What will I be doing?

• Creating change in a complex system. Working within our product stream, making well-considered decisions around patterns, principals, frameworks, languages and tools, thinking through and mitigating for potential cascading impacts of those changes.
• Designing and developing well-architected systems. Understand and contribute to our product source code and cloud infrastructure.
• Designing holistically, delivering iteratively. Work with the team to break down system-wide architecture recommendations into small, intelligently planned increments for delivery. 
• Advocate for technology needs. Translate technology risk into opportunity during product and technology roadmap discussions.
• Coach and mentor. Assist with career development of less experienced staff on our teams.
• Putting Customers First. A regular rotation on support for the systems we develop.

 What we’re looking for

• Demonstrated experience as a software engineer, with 4-8 years experience in technology roles
• Experience working on complex systems and cloud architectures
• Significant experience with across the full stack:
• The Java programming language and frameworks such as Spring & SpringBoot 
• Front-end Javascript frameworks such as ReactJS
• Good knowledge of AWS services, design patterns and practices - ideally certified but if not, we’ll help you get there
• Some knowledge of optimising databases and SQL queries for high-performance 
• Experience and keen understanding of the value of working in agile teams
• A “quality-first” mindset, with experience working in continuous integration environments and supporting the systems you contribute to
• Highly effective at communicating, and comfortable whiteboarding design ideas with teams of engineers, product managers, and business analysts
• Desire to challenge the status quo and maturity to know when to compromise
• Respect for other team members and a highly collaborative approach to working and learning together

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Understand and troubleshoot technology problems and offer solutions
• Understand the technology infrastructure and Application architecture end to end
• Code review for the source code delivered by team
• Understand the business requirements and deliver it through outsourced team
• Support/lead new technology initiatives and related technology deliveries
• Take part in evaluation of new products, POC, Time bound RND and solution deliveries
• Manage teams (both internal and external)/projects within given cost and time
• Plan, execute, track and report progress of initiatives taken up
• Adopt new processes/ improve existing processes to deliver better business solutions
• Adhere to quality / info-security guidelines and processes including maintain adequate documentation
• Attend review meetings, business user meetings, IT meetings etc

• Minimum qualification required is Graduation in computers / electronics with an experience of 2-6 years
• Require good written and spoken communication skills
• Require ability to lead a team and manage delivery with help of partners.
• Require hands on experience in developing applications with Angular, .Net Core, Asp.Net, MVC, SQL and Node JS.
• Require proven abilities to analyze, debug and find solution to technology issues
• Require process orientation, ability to adopt new processes and improve existing processes on ongoing basis
• Require experience in developing responsive web applications
• Require hands on experience in scaling/load balancing applications
• Require hands on experience in writing queries on SQL technologies
• Require knowledge of Windows operating systems

• High School diploma or GED required 
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience designing and building scalable web based applications 
• Experience with RESTful web services, Java/Spring framework, NodeJS applications, React & Vue Frameworks 
• Strong relational database modeling and SQL experience (Oracle, MSSQL)f 
• Solid knowledge of testing principle and ability to build comprehensive test suite  
• Demonstrated UI design and UX sensibilities 
• Experience in scripting against Windows/Linux i.e. PowerShell, VB or Unix Shell Script, Python  
• Ability to coordinate the release/deployment process and versioning, code, configuration management 
• Experience with Git/Bitbucket and Opensource Tools and Agile methodologies 
• Experience leading software developers on development best practices as a technical lead 
• Experience with using JIRA (for defect tracking and for ITSM ticketing with Incident/Problem/Change)

• Good experience in code optimization, performance tuning, debugging 
• Web/App server: TOMCAT/JBOSS/WAS 
• Knowledge of OOPS concepts, SDLC, and design patterns 
• Good Analytical ability and Problem Solving Skills 
• Good communication skills in both written and verbal 
• Java Certification will be an added advantage
