Software Development Engineer Testing (SDET)

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and maintain scalable end-to-end automation frameworks using Playwright and TypeScript to ensure high test coverage and reliability across complex web applications.
• Design and execute advanced SQL queries in PostgreSQL to perform backend data validation, ensuring data integrity and consistency between the UI and database layers.
• Apply robust system design principles to develop modular, reusable test components and service-level abstractions that minimize framework technical debt.
• Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines to facilitate continuous testing and provide rapid feedback on build stability and regression impacts.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to conduct technical design reviews, identifying potential edge cases and architectural risks early in the SDLC.
• Mentor junior quality engineers on best practices for asynchronous programming in TypeScript and efficient selector strategies within the Playwright ecosystem.
• Analyze complex system requirements to create comprehensive test strategies that balance functional automation with performance and reliability benchmarks.

Success Metrics for this Role (first 6 months):

• Achieve maximum possible automation coverage for all high-priority regression test cases within the assigned functional module using Playwright and TypeScript.
• Reduce manual regression testing execution time by at least 40% through the implementation of optimized, parallelized test scripts and CI/CD integration.
• Design and implement a minimum of 5 complex utility functions or custom hooks in the Playwright framework to enhance code reusability and handle intricate PostgreSQL data validation workflows.
• Maintain a script stability rate of 90% or higher, ensuring that failures are due to genuine application defects rather than environment instability or flaky test logic.

Good-to-Have / Preferred Skills

• Proficiency in implementing and managing Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.
• Experience with Docker and containerization strategies to ensure consistent execution of test suites across various environments.
• Understanding of cloud infrastructure services, specifically AWS or Azure, for scaling automated test execution and managing cloud-native databases.
• Mastery of API contract testing frameworks like Pact to ensure service compatibility within microservices architectures.

Strong Lead Product Designer/ Sr product designer/ Product design manager Profile

Mandatory (Experience 1): Must have a minimum 6+ years of hands-on Product Design experience with product companies

Mandatory (Experience 2): Must have experience leading a team or mentoring junior designers (not a pure people manager)

Mandatory (Design Craft): Strong design craft with deep expertise in UX, interaction design, design systems, prototyping, problem-solving, and user-centered workflows. Should be able to individually assess and elevate design quality.

Mandatory (Collaboration): Proven ability to collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Research, and cross-functional teams. Must have driven design-led projects, influenced product roadmap, and balanced short-term and long-term design priorities.

Mandatory (Portfolio): Portfolio or team-led work showing shipped, real-world product impact, improved user journeys, solved UX breakage, and scaled design quality across multiple products/features.

General Accountabilities/Job Responsibilities

• Participation in the requirements analysis, design, development and testing of applications.
• The candidate is expected to write code himself/herself.
• The candidate is expected to write high level code, code review, unit testing and deployment.
• Practical application of design principles with a focus on the user experience, usability, template
• designs, cross browser issues and client server concepts.
• Contributes to the development of project estimates, scheduling, and deliverables.
• Works closely with QA team to determine testing requirements to ensure full coverage and best
• quality of product.
• There is also the opportunity to mentor and guide junior team members in excelling their jobs.

Job Specifications

• BE/B. Tech. Computer Science or MCA from a reputed University.
• 3 -12 Years of experience in software development, with emphasis on JAVA/J2EE Server side programming.
• Hands on experience in Core Java, Multithreading, RMI, Socket programing,
• JDBC, NIO, webservices and Design patterns.
• Should have Knowledge of distributed system, distributed caching, messaging frameworks,
• ESB etc.
• Knowledge of Linux operating system and PostgreSQL/MySQL/MongoDB/Cassandra database is essential.
• Additionally, knowledge of HBase, Hadoop and Hive are desirable.
• Familiarity with message queue systems and AMQP and Kafka is desirable.
• Should have experience as a participant in Agile methodologies.
• Should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills.
