Software Development Engineer - II (Back End)

Requirements

• Design and implement a full-stack web application using Python Django framework and ReactJS.
• 1+ years of experience in building and deploying web applications.
• Experience in designing and using RESTful APIs.
• Basic knowledge in front-end technologies such as JavaScript, , ReactJS, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application.
• Understanding of databases, SQL and non-relational, plus the Django ORM.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript, including DOM manipulation and the JavaScript object model.
• Experience in web mark-up like HTML and CSS.
• Experience with data structure libraries.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs.
• A knack for bench marking and optimization.
• Knowledge of modern authorization mechanisms, such as JSON Web Token.
• Familiarity with modern front-end build pipelines and tools.
• Experience with common front-end development tools such as NPM etc.
• Strong knowledge of Git version control.
• Experience deploying Python applications into production.
• Amazon Web Services (AWS) knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Writing reusable, testable, and efficient code.
• Design and implementation of low-latency, high-availability, and performance applications using Django framework in Python.
• Create and use the REST APIs for communicating with other apps.
• Assess and prioritize feature requests and work in Agile framework.
• Implementation of security and data protection algorithms.
• Integration of data storage solutions like databases, key-value stores, blob stores, S3 etc.
• Improve the functionality of existing systems and applications.
• High commitment to work and taking ownership of deliverables.
• Help to research and influence our path forward with strategic technology initiatives.

• To take lead and manage the backend team.
• Taking ownership and developing new micro services/systems to improve the products.
• Managing and adding on to our linux based content management system as well as our web servers.

• 4+ years of hands-on experience working with serverless architecture.
• Hands-on experience with products at a scale of > 50K DAUs.
• Should be able to architect and implement complex services/systems in a simple and scalable manner.
• Self starter with the ability to lead a team.
• Should be an expert in: Python. AWS Lambda, RDS and EC2 SQL databases, specifically postgresql. NOSQL Database, specifically dynamoDB.
• Should be able to write automated test cases for developed code.
• Should be proficient in the linux environment.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge set to fetch data from multiple online sources, cleanse it and build APIs on top of it
• Develop a deep understanding of our vast data sources on the web and know exactly how, when, and which data to scrap, parse and store
• We're looking for people who will naturally take ownership of data products and who can bring a project all the way from a fast prototype to production.

Desired Candidate Profile

• Strong relevant experience of at least 2-3 years.
• Strong coding experience in Python3.
• Should have good experience with Django and NodeJs.
• Proficient on modelling applications on both RDBMS and NOSQL databases
• Should have experience in web scraping
• Good understanding and hands-on with scheduling and managing tasks with cron
• Should have experience with microservice architecture
• Compile and analyze data, processes, and codes to troubleshoot problems and identify areas for improvement
• Should have experience in shell scripting, GIT and docker
• Writing unit tests for 100% code coverage.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Writing high quality code, participating in code reviews, designing/architecting systems of varying complexity and scope, and creating high quality documentation supporting the design/coding tasks
• Lead out team meetings, stand-ups, and architecture/design discussions
• Identify areas of improvement in our frameworks, tools, processes and strive to make them better. Evaluate our success metrics and evolve our reporting systems
