Senior Backend Engineer

Position Overview:

As a .NET Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining web applications and systems that support Versatile Commerce digital presence. You will work with technologies such as .NET, ASP.NET, C#, SQL Server, MVC, Sitefinity CMS, and Azure to deliver high-performance and scalable solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, enhance, and maintain web applications using .NET, ASP.NET, C#, and MVC.

• Design and optimize database solutions using SQL Server.

• Work with Sitefinity CMS to manage and develop content-driven websites.

• Deploy and manage applications on Microsoft Azure, ensuring scalability and security.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers, testers, and project managers, to deliver high-quality solutions.

• Ensure application performance, security, and scalability by following best practices.

• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing applications.

• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry’s best practices. 

Required Qualifications:

• Proven experience in .NET development, including ASP.NET, C#, and MVC.

• Strong knowledge of SQL Server, including database design and optimization.

• Experience with Sitefinity CMS or other content management systems. • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure services for hosting and deployment.

• Understanding of RESTful APIs, web services, and third-party integrations.

• Knowledge of front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery is a plus.

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

• Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud security.

• Certifications in Microsoft Azure or Sitefinity are a plus

1. 4 to 6 years experience in backend engineering

2. Minimum 2+ years hands-on experience with:

TypeScript

Express.js / Nest.js

3. Strong experience with MongoDB (or MySQL / PostgreSQL / DynamoDB)

4. Strong understanding of system design & scalable architecture

5. Hands-on experience in:

Event-driven architecture / Domain-driven design

MVC / Microservices

6. Strong in automated testing (especially integration tests)

7. Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or similar)

8. Experience managing production systems

9. Solid understanding of performance, reliability, observability

10. Cloud experience (AWS preferred; GCP/Azure acceptable)

11. Strong coding standards — Clean Code, code reviews, refactoring

What you'll do:

·        Perform complex application programming activities with an emphasis on mobile development: Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, RESTful APIs and related backend frameworks

·        Assist in the definition of system architecture and detailed solution design that are scalable and extensible

·        Collaborate with Product Owners, Designers, and other engineers on different permutations to find the best solution possible

·        Own the quality of code and do your own testing. Write unit test and improve test coverage.

·        Deliver amazing solutions to production that knock everyone’s socks off

·        Mentor junior developers on the team

Basic Qualifications: 

·        Minimum B.S. / M.S. Computer Science or related discipline from accredited college or University

·        At least 4 years of experience designing, developing, and delivering backend applications with Node.js, TypeScript

·        At least 2 years of experience building internet facing services

·        At least 2 years of experience with AWS and/or OpenShift

·        Exposure to some of the following concepts: object-oriented programming, software engineering techniques, quality engineering, parallel programming, databases, etc.

·        Experience integrating APIs with front-end and/or mobile-specific frameworks

·        Proficiency in building and consuming RESTful APIs

·        Ability to manage multiple tasks and consistently meet established timelines  

·        Strong collaboration skills

·        Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Preferred Qualifications:

·        Experience with Apache Cordova framework

• Demonstrable knowledge of native coding background in iOS, Android

·        Experience developing and deploying applications within Kubernetes based containers

Experience in Agile and SCRUM development techniques

Job Description

We are looking for a Backend Engineer to work closely with the founding team. We are looking for a developer responsible for managing the interchange of data between the server and the users. Your primary focus will be the development of all server-side logic, definition and maintenance of the central database, and ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end.

Responsibilities

1. Develop platform and infra stack from scratch
2. Writing reusable, testable, and efficient code
3. Compile and analyze data, processes, and codes to troubleshoot problems and identify areas for improvement.
4. Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability.
5. Implementation of security and data protection
6. Collaborating with the front-end developers and other team members to establish objectives and design more functional, cohesive codes to enhance the user experience.
7. Developing ideas for new programs, products, or features by monitoring industry developments and trends.
8. Recording data and reporting it to proper parties, such as clients or leadership.
9. Participating in continuing education and training to remain current on best practices, learn new technologies, and better assist other team members.
10. Taking lead on projects, as needed.

Technology Skills

1. Proven work experience as a NodeJs Backend developer and frameworks available with it like Express, Apollo Graphql. Typescript knowledge is a plus
2. In-depth understanding of the entire web development process (design, development and deployment)
3. Hands-on with various Infrastructure pieces like databases, message queues/brokers
4. Familiarity with Unit Testing Frameworks, UI Testing, Monorepos and Graphql principles
5. Knowledge of Alerting and Monitoring tools.
6. Implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests
7. Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
8. Integration of multiple data sources and databases into one system.
9. Prior experience of the AWS cloud, knowledge about the Salesforce environment is a plus.
10. Excellent project and time management skills.
