SDE 1/2/3 - Backend (NodeJS/Scala)

Experience: 6+ years building production backend systems in Node.js for B2C products at meaningful scale.

• System Design: This one matters a lot to us. You can reason clearly about scalability, reliability, and trade-offs under real constraints.

• Fundamentals: Strong grasp of API design, service-oriented architecture, data structures, algorithms, and clean code.

• Databases: Depth in SQL and/or NoSQL, data modeling, query optimization, and performance tuning.

• AI-Native: You already use LLMs and agentic approaches to maximize your own efficiency as an engineer.

• Mindset: You enjoy the pace and breadth of a small team, and you are happy picking up whatever moves the product forward.

Key Responsibilities

Backend Development

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Rust, Python, and TypeScript.
• Build high-performance microservices and APIs for AI-driven products.
• Develop fault-tolerant, secure, and maintainable distributed systems.
• Design event-driven architectures and asynchronous processing pipelines.
• Implement caching, message queues, and database optimization strategies.

AI & Machine Learning Integration

• Build and maintain backend infrastructure supporting LLMs, Generative AI, RAG systems, and AI Agents.
• Integrate models from providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, and open-source LLMs.
• Develop vector search solutions using Pinecone, Weaviate, Qdrant, or similar technologies.
• Build AI workflows for content generation, summarization, sentiment analysis, and conversational intelligence.
• Optimize AI inference pipelines for performance and cost efficiency.

System Architecture

• Design scalable architectures capable of handling high traffic and large volumes of data.
• Develop real-time processing systems and data pipelines.
• Implement observability, monitoring, logging, and alerting mechanisms.
• Drive performance tuning and latency optimization across services.

Cloud & DevOps

• Deploy and manage applications on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Work with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Ensure system reliability, security, and scalability.

• Relentlessly improving performance, scalability, and maintainability on top of being responsible for entire products
• Owning the design process, implementation, and verification of framework components leveraging standard software engineering methodologies
• Translating functional and technical requirements into detailed architecture and design.

🤝 What makes you a good fit?

• 0-2 years of experience in product development, architecture, data structures, algorithms and design.
• Experience with API integrations, database design, and backend frameworks on NodeJS and/or Python
• Experienced with an agile team environment and you prefer being a self-starter.

Role & Responsibilities :

• Work with a team of skilled engineers to improve the Squadcast product.
• Control what you work on, how you deliver and the roadmap of the product.
• Solve service reliability problems for teams and companies worldwide.
• Build delightful experiences and scalable, reliable systems for fellow engineers, the end users of our platform.
• Plan & develop tooling, processes and technical improvements to improve the multiple codebases.
• Work closely with the product team to plan, spec and deliver features, bugfixes and documentation.
• Work with the SRE and Customer Success teams to help customers and troubleshoot issues during our paid on-call rotations.
• Build, deploy and manage services and Backend Coding using Go/Node.
