We’re building enterprise software for companies of all sizes. It means that every day we’re dealing with a large scale. We build our apps with React, we use SASS and CSS modules for styling, Webpack for bundling, Jest and Enzyme for testing, and Redux with Sagas for state. We do have some older bits of tech in our stack too, like Backbone with Marionette, but we’re actively working on removing them from our codebase. 

Since our app is fairly complex, we care about writing a fair amount of tests for it. We have thousands of unit and functional tests and this number is getting bigger. We are aiming to move to continuous delivery when our coverage is satisfactory. Our app is used by thousands of people every day—it’s a tool for them to do their job which is why we care a lot about not having any regressions in the app. 

As engineers, we have strong product ownership. It means we are part of product development from early designs to deployment and monitoring. This allows us to have a deep conversation with Design and Product teams about not only how we build things but also what we build.

What You’ll Do will include

• Developing system components throughout the whole product lifecycle. Your task will be to build user interfaces that are usable and informative. In order to do that, you’ll need to combine and process data from different parts of the system. Building a scalable and maintainable product used by over 350 thousand users every day
• Influencing the development strategy and technologies of a global product deployed on hundreds of servers around the world
• Supporting other team members to help them fulfill their potential
• Leading and owning projects end to end, from design to deployment
• Learn, collaborate, and teach other Frontend Engineers.
• Lead large-scale projects exerting significant influence on long term vision and goals for your team
• Collaborating with other frontend developers to design, architect, implement, and build a frontend project
• Being part of a professional team collaborating with QA and backend developers
• Cooperating closely with UX designers and product owners to bring state-of-the-art frontend experience of a product.
• Coming up with your own ideas for product enhancement and productivity boosts

Your Qualifications

• Experience leading team of engineers
• Hands-on experience designing and developing highly scalable applications from both functional and performance perspective
• Expert knowledge of ES6+, HTML5, CSS3
• Experience with React ecosystem (our stack is based on React, Redux, Webpack)
• Practical experience with TDD
• Understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues
• Adaptability in a dynamic environment
• Practical experience with unit testing and end-to-end automation

About the role: 

You’ll be an early engineer in a newly formed engineering team. This is a unique opportunity for you to learn, build, demonstrate, and subsequently own diverse components of our tech stack and evolve as we scale our business. As a core engineer in a small team, the role demands a high degree of self-drive and ownership, on a path to achieving outsized impact.

In this role, you will:

• Work with a diverse multidisciplinary team across Engineering, Product & Operations, to translate product specs into clean, functional, production-ready code.
• Participate actively in defining of the systems architecture vision to better support our team’s needs
• Grow our technical capacity by mentoring other engineers and interviewing candidates
• Collaborate with team members to identify systems, practices & technologies that suit our needs the best

Minimum Qualification:

• 4+ years of experience in software engineering building SaaS platforms & products, particularly frontend development
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript (ES6+), HTML, CSS and React. Working knowledge of other frameworks is desirable.
• Proficient in software design, modularity, testability and software quality
• Fast self-learner, with the willingness & interest to learn new technologies, languages & frameworks
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

Additional desired qualifications:

• 4-7 years of overall experience in software engineering either as a Frontend engineer or a Fullstack engineer, with significant frontend experience
• Deep understanding of integrating with a variety of backends and APIs (ReST, GraphQL). Experience with node/Python/RubyOnRails is desirable
• Strong flair for usability, consistency, and balancing aesthetics with functional design.
• Experience working with data-intensive applications and data-visualisation libraries such as Chart.js, and D3.js is desirable
• Expertise in building debugging, improving the performance of web applications

Will there be nights and weekends? 

• - Nights and weekends are not scheduled, however we are looking for someone that takes pride in their work and will lean in to hit a deadline or to fix a bug if it has a significant impact on the platform.

Should they be expected to lead?

• - Yes, you should be expected to lead and to communicate/ cooperate with other devs as a team. Some coding might be alone but the hope of the app is that it all works seamlessly together and to ensure that there needs to be communication among all devs front end and back end.

Who will they report to?

• - They will report to Product OwnerRob and Product ManagerJulietta daily for standups and well as pushing tasks through the appropriate structure of review, QA, and production. 
• They will also report and check in with Client SuccessCourtney as we look to make the app have a seamless customer experience and customer value. The goal of Attribute should be to try and give as much value as quickly and easily as possible.

Will they work alone or in a team?

• In some spots they might be expected to work alone and on a separate sprint from others, however, everything needs to tie in and work together, because of that the developer must be team oriented in both development and problem solving.
• Additionally, there will be times that they should expect to work with people who are not particularly tech savvy ( ie. sales, marketing, customer success etc.) to collaborate on a specific feature to produce the best thing for the product.

Accountability

• The developer is both accountable for their code and the code of the team. They should take care and responsibility in the work that is done and if there are problems with the code in QA or production work as diligently as possible to fix that problem ( whether it is their code directly or not).
• As part of this all code will be attached from Github to Jira for developers to constantly upload their commits to Jira tasks
• A mistake is completely fine and expected, bugs are to be expected. What is asked is that you report it as soon as possible and are honest about it so that we can move forward in resolving it as soon as possible.

Customer, Usability, and Value Focused

• The end user of our product will be marketing professionals/head of marketing. At all times the developers need to take this into account and spend time thinking of the ease and the use cases that people will utilize their code or features in real life versus what is a way to make something work but in a vacuum. 

Quality focused

• Pushing out code is awesome, but if the code has a ton of bugs and does not do the required action that is practical for the user then it does not matter. We want a developer who is Quality focused and also hold their other developers accountable.

Focused on the whole 

• When producing a feature it is easy to sometime get sucked into how that features works in a vacuum. The developers need to be able to work together and understand the software architecture as a whole in order to make whatever feature they are working on be able to work with the other features that are built within the app ( and will be built or are on the roadmap for the future).

• Developers are expected to work within structures, however, they are always encouraged to take time to think of creative solutions and to collaborate on new features or ways of making the product better.

• Knows SPA and frontend technologies well
• Has used atleast 1 web framework: Angular / React / Vue / etc. and comfortable with Javascript/Typescript.
• Experience with styling (CSS / SCSS / others) frameworks like bootstrap, material, foundation, tailwind, etc. is a plus
• Knowledge on visualization frameworks like D3, plotly, highcharts, chart.js, etc. to make customizable dashboards.
• Has used testing libraries like karma, jest, jasmine, cypress, selenium, etc.
• Familiar with with frontend processes like State management (Redux), Reactive programming (rxjs), Authentication methods (JWT, SAML) etc. 
• Basic knowledge about APIs (flask, django, nodejs) and worked on deploying web applications (nginx or apache or cloud technologies like AWS, GCP, docker, etc.) will be beneficial.

We are looking for a skilled react.js developer to join our front-end development team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing user interface components using React.js concepts and workflows such as Redux, Flux, and Webpack. You will also be responsible for profiling and improving front-end performance and documenting our front-end codebase.

To ensure success as a react.js developer, you should have in-depth knowledge of JavaScript and React concepts, excellent front-end coding skills, and a good understanding of progressive web applications. Ultimately, a top-class react.js developer should be able to design and build modern user interface components to enhance application performance.
